Pilicast: here is an extremely niché trick you can use to your advantage in a dogfight. Most WT players: uhm what is energy fighting? What do you mean I shouldn't just always hold S?
As a prior F-15 aircraft armament, I think it's slightly under 6 feet of offset, because whenever we had to install it (which absolutely sucks btw), I'd be laying from about where the drum is to about where the gun is to tension the feed, and I'm 5'10. great vid though!
@@Pilicast Yeah, I tried going through my Career Development Course study guide once again to see if I could find it, but it didn’t really say. Boresighting that gun though after a reinstall was a b*tch and a half. They developed a new easier method that uses a laser, but we weren’t authorized to use it yet so we had to use a scope that we put down the barrel, a piece of paper, a huge board, and a whole lot of time adjusting mounting brackets.
@@Pilicast very unrelated to this comment section but I must know, did you abandon your sparta aircraft sound mod for war thunder, or will it be updated, because it's one hell of a sound mod to let go to waste
just seeing massive chunks of metal falling with a massive flame coming from one end while firing a gun to fall in a certain way to kill another chunk of metal in the sky is quite the trick, I am impressed
This seems like the type of maneuver that is gonna be forgotten by almost everyone who knows about it up until they're actually in an "unwinnable" dogfight and remember their plane can do it.
Honestly never thought that the gun firing would have that much impact on the plane in the air. I guess you dont really notice it in the fast pace games of top tier. Neat to see that a 20mm cannon firing can give the F-15 equally crazy turns like the yak141.
nobody uses it because in real life, unlike Warthunder, the cannon does not provide enough recoil to perform a maneuver. Besides, an airplane has far too little ammunition to afford to shoot around wildly. an f15 has enough ammunition for 15 seconds of continuous fire...
Doom Eternal music for an F-15 is extremely fitting. I always viewed Doom Slayer as an F-15, if he were a jet. Not to mention the heavily synthed chainsaw is perfect for cannon.
fun fact you can use some custom loadouts and gunpods to do pull this off and have a far more extreme effect (also gun pods generally have more ammo and are farther off center)
An informative video that isn't stretched to an hour of background info??? I didn't think this was possible with modern youtube... But yeah, outstanding stuff mate!
this also work for props. when one side is jammed and the other isnt, it will work. also with custom setups the ju-87 can gun yaw with one side using 37mm and the other using bombs and misc
The Flanker really doesnt need it with how powerful the engines are. If you're in a stall fight, keep full 110% WEP and use full or realistic controls to guide the gun in. Given that needs practice too, but it's a very strong plane. Waiting for the Su-30SM, so I can thrust vector my way into ez SL gain.
There is a very valid reason why nobody does this, both IRL and in WT. The speed regime where a "gun yaw" is even possible or remotely effective is so low, you are left vulnerable to air to air missiles. Plus with so little ammunition as you have with the Vulcan or comparative rotary autocannons, it is wasteful and just not worth it.
The real F-16 kicks its rudder to the side in order to keep the gun on target. Important as without it strafing ground targets would be near impossible
here's hoping the next amraams patch decreases the 16v16 player matches so we can see these cool techniques! there's just no way to do this outside of custom battles as long as missile spamming is around and big furballs in the middle of the map ruining 1v1s..
Did you know that Russian aircraft's ballistic computer (MiG-29 & Su-27) takes care of firing the gun and all the pilot has to do is fly the aircraft to give the gun the highest probability of a hit?
Mom, can we have thrust vectoring ?
No, we have thrust vectoring at home.
Thrust vectoring at home :

This video reminded me that you can choose to carry a single left or right wing mounted 30mm cannon on the SAAB-105G. Might be worth a shot.

You make War Thunder look so good visually.
Jokes on you, I play Trailmakers. If I want, the entire *propulsion* system for my aircraft can be built out of guns, let alone half-axis yaw control.

The music sycronisiation made me "ignite my afterburner"

I don't see a practical use for this in ARB unless it's literally down to a final 1v1 after the other 30 players have been wiped out.
When I saw the title I thought that it was the ability for the gun to rotate independently from the aircraft
