    For this video, we go save my good friend Ron who recently purchased a Mitsubishi Evo 8- we were all excited but worried about it since it was "already built" and we weren't sure about what parts were on it. With no surprise little issues arose and Ron broke down. We will continue showing off this evo in the future to show what happens! Thanks for watching!

    Build it right. Once. Stick to your hp goals and beat the shit out of slightly under the limit while maintaining the car correctly. I now track my fully built Evo I used to daily from 8 years ago. Same built block. Same goddamn setup. Too many people build car piece by piece with shady ass parts. That's mostly your problem.

    • @lmo2021
      @lmo2021 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +1
      people either skimp on parts of the build due to not wanting to spend heaps but then also want max hp or they just skimp on the whole parts list and expect more power than possible without the motor going out on them
      they also don't see why chasing numbers will end in rebuild after rebuild

      Agreed! When these cars have problems, it's usually a result of something that the owner did. Mods that aren't done correctly or shitty driving. The weak point in these cars are the transfer case which is why the mechanic stated he would get these in the shop all the time with burnt clutches. It's just a result from bad driving when launching the car. That's why I bought mine bone stock because you never know how much of a beating the last guy put on the car.

    If you hacks would just order the $25 metal clip that holds the sensor harness, the amount of "breakdowns" would have been greatly reduced.

    Don't see how a loose MAF sensor plug is a catastrophic failure. Also, electrical tape would work better to hold that in place until you can replace the connection. Looks like a nice Evo.

I actually don't know how many times but it's over 10. But god is it fun when it's not falling apart.

    It's the owners that don't maintain their cars, Mitsubishi are fine. Out of a 1999 eclipse, 2003 eclipse, 2008 eclipse, 2015 Lance and a 2016 outlander the total cost of repairs across all of them was $38 for a thermostat on the 99 eclipse and a motor mount for the 03.

    There is no problem with any car as long as you know how to take car of the specifics. like some people here have said, its the owners. If you want to tune the car, find out what the limits are. All cars have different weak points. And not all sports cars need to be tuned or modified to be enjoyed. Drive it stock, light tune it. Get to know the car as the engineers designed it for. Maybe you can enjoy it more. Don't expect too much thinking you need to drag race everthing at the lights or whatever hooning you do. It's also a matter of age and maturity too. Young guys just think they NEED to modify everything. You don't.

  • @mrJayGarage
    @mrJayGarage 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    evos are awesome, but to enjoy them this is what you have to do:
    1st buy a car lift and all tools necessary.
    2nd befriend a machinest at you local machine shop.
    3rd train yourself to go without food for a while.
    same for eclipses, talons and lasers.

    as an ex tme evo 6 owner I love the fact that you Americans cam now get Evos.
    but they're designed as back road rally cars not straight road dragsters.
    they're shaped like a house brick is a good clue! yes you can make them go fast in a straight line but that's not actually the point of the car.
    if you want to see what they're actually made for Google 'circuit of ireland' or 'rac rally'. wish I still had my mak btw - I'd be rich! 👍🏻

    Its cute how many sub 300whp evo owners are in the comments claiming theyve never had issues.. I mean i would hope they wouldnt just break down stock. A light bolt on pump gas evo is a little different than the fully built evos these guys all have. Building high power cars is always a game of figuring out the weakest link and upgrading it. Well in evo's that game is a lot harder, considering the drivetrain is like glass and the 4g internals are like plaster.

    So basically this Evo has a problem that needs to be fix cause when you give it boost then something pops off. Um that's your Evo's problem NOT EVERY EVO HAS THE SAME DAMN PROBLEM!!! Why would you hate on something cause you have encountered one or two evos with that problem, not every evo in the world is like that cause I know a rally racer and his mechanic and they never had that problem, maybe you guys don't know how to fix the car SIMPLE!!

  • @edwardsteinjolt3720
    @edwardsteinjolt3720 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Same thing happens with Evo´s Impreza´s Stang´s and several other cars, they come fine from factory, some guy "tunes up" the car and breaks it, they sell it and the 2nd owner (and so on) have to deal with the "mods" and end up hating the car saying it sucks and has a ton of trouble....yeah theres factory issues, trannys on evos, rods on imprezas, alternators on mustangs, driveshafts on challengers and all that but most of the issues come from wanna be tuners that add cheap parts and fuck up their cars!

      I agree. I live in the Middle East and the Evo is on the list of some of the most common cars to have accidents. It pisses me off when I take my X to the shop and people keep telling me about the dangers of the car and selling it. They think it's the car, but when you see some of these young Arabs drive...

    So yall are hating on Evos, but everything you mentioned sounds like user error (no clip on sensor, user error. going to court because customers are stupid and burned their clutches up early, user error, the Evo stopping multiple times because of the same sensor that you Still have not secured properly.. you see what I'm saying). AND to top it all off, both your 240s are down as we speak. priceless lol

    I own an Evo, my dream car! Problematic and expensive; but the feeling you get from a good hoon is truly unmatched; keep the power numbers down and treat the transfer case right and you'll be fine... but the mod bug and age brings many problems LOL. But still, finding and fixing problems with your friends is part of the appeal of being a car enthusiast right? The Evo ticks all the boxes! :P

    "Buying a built car from somebody is very risk" - dude it's literally only a missing clip and you are judging Evos from that?

    • @meCmoni
      @meCmoni 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Looool It was so noobish of him to say that... The car didn't break down because a rod went through the engine block. The friggin MAP sensor kept falling off because of a lost clip... Dude's throwing shade at EVOs for that...

  • @xaviercastruita6932
    @xaviercastruita6932 7 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    Bro you have been doing car reviews for such a long time and you still don't know what a common intake manifold looks like? Lmao that's the exhaust manifold. No wonder you have had such a hard with the 2jz 240 you probably never try to fix it yourself and hand it to the pros to be butt fucking you everytime you think something major broke.

  • @BaberBuilt
    @BaberBuilt 7 ปีที่แล้ว +117

    Oh yea, lets act like the car had a major failure because owner wasn't knowledgeable enough to spot an unplugged map sensor that is literally right in your face on the manifold and it was the cars fault a .05 cent paper clip type retainer wasn't in place.....first video thats ever bothered me..

      @christophermay4366 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Androyd Rzr I think the point is the owner has more money than tools....if the guy doesn't learn how to work on it....it's going to get really old really fast breaking down all the time because the owner doesn't know anything about his car

      You shouldnt have to "build" anything just so it doesnt break. Id be damned to spend this much money on something that I cant even spank on without breaking it or dumping a shit ton of money to make it reliable.
