      Best build I've seen because it was very intuitive...
      1991 notchback Base:
      - Mustang ('01) engine 3.8L
      - T-bird Supercharger
      - Ranger 4.0L crank (now 4.2L stroker)
      - Windstar intake manifold
      Extras:
      - Aftercooler (washer fluid injection) +75hp
      - NOS (200 shot)
      Iirc it broke into the 10s for less than $5k total build cost invluding the car (in ~2004)

    2.0 is a closed deck vs 2.3 so its better suited to handle more boost/bigger turbo. Most swaps will use the 2.3 head w/ the 2.0 block for better head flow and stronger bottom end.

    • @kennethelliott5985
      @kennethelliott5985 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +24

      The bottom ends for both blocks ar the same strength. This issue of 2.3 is the casting of the block its self is not a strong from it open deck design. The most popular thing is to stroke and or bore and stroke the 2L block to 2.3L-2.5L take the 2.3L head upgrade the springs put on ford performance came or use Esslinger stage 2 cams!
      Or if you have the money just call up mountune or MAPerformance and they will have complete longblocks for you. At the power best suited for what you want!

      I had a 2014 ST3 FBO Stratified Pops/Crackles Tune, dyno @ 253whp/315wtq prior to intercooler install so like 260-265whp/325wtq post install, very fun car fasho I miss the 6spd💯 But the cylinder head cracked and the turbo went, so I traded it for a 2k16 Mk7 GTI Autobahn DSG stock 216whp/273wtq, I’m JB4 stage 1 now. 4” intake/single exit exhaust/res delete, it would blow the doors off of the Focus now, it handles and feels much better around corners. The bucket seats in the ST are better though tbh. EA888.3 motor is potent af and more expensive than the Ecoboost. Overall both motors would be sick for rwd swaps 💯🔥

    Cool build! I always love to see EcoBoost swaps in older Mustangs, and it sounds like the 4 cylinder versions are a lot more cost effective than the 6. Usually the sound kills it for me with the EcoBoost 4 cylinders, but this sounds pretty darn good!

    My friend and I built a track car out of my 1972 celica parts car. We put the 2.3 ecoboost into it. We were the first guys to swap a 2.3 ecoboost into something. But having each having our own growing family’s and buying/building houses it’s taken a while to get the car going. So we are probably the last ones to get it running 🤦‍♂️. The car is highly modified. It’s getting tuned this week.

    Had a 90 Z24 that had the 3.1 liter 6 in it & a 5-speed. It was fairly quick (BITD) as long as you could control the torque steer. Beat many muscle cars that weren't expecting it be as quick as it was. ...and either did that Turbo Coupe T-Bird , but it was me who was surprised. Now, in an actual 1/4 mile I had him, but that next 1/4+ mile he was GONE !

    As someone who also owned a Focus ST for a while, most of the problems stemmed from the drivetrain and not really the motor itself. The trans was terrible, torque steer sucked, and axles snap when you do get traction and make any power. After seeing this I’m definitely tempted to do a similar swap in something.

    I’ve been trying to tell people the 13-16 Fusion 2.0s are slept on. Same exact motor that is in the Focus ST so it has all of the same aftermarket support. 90% of the parts are a direct swap. More tunability than the later models and was more reliable because it didn’t have the coolant intrusion issues.

    Just keep an eye when yall are buying used 2.0s, some of them have been having coolant jackets cavitation issues and making them consume coolant/ run rough, so Ford has a redesign to fix said issue

    • @logantylerb.5299
      @logantylerb.5299 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The single scroll didn't have those issues, only the twin scroll did. Twin scroll has a similar head to the 2.3, and a block more similar to the 1.6 and 1.5 4 cylinders. Open deck block, and it causes the coolant consumption issues.

    The 4 cylinder Ecoboost is the modern version of the Lima motor of the 80's. Found in the SVO Mustang and the Thunderbird Turbo Coupe there's a guy who put one in a Pinto. This engine made 1000hp and was a drag car. Check out late 90's Hot Rod magazines for more info.

  • @afout07
    @afout07 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Ford put these and the 1.6 ecoboost in soooo many suvs. They're functionally the same as the engines they put in the focus and fiesta too. I think they'll become more and more popular as time goes on because they're everywhere so they're pretty cheap, they respond well to mods, and they're both quite capable of respectable power without having to go for built internals. Slap on a bigger turbo and supporting bolt ons and a tune and you're good to go.
    Also, i think the 3071 might be my favorite turbo. I have one in my mazdaspeed and it absolutely rips.
