Ugly Painted MCM Dresser Reveals Something Hidden Underneath!

- This dresser was a doozy. I picked it up for free from Facebook Marketplace and spent hours and hours sanding, stripping, and scraping all the paint away. In the end, you'll see how I transformed this ugly duckling into a beautiful swan :)

For those very narrow grooves, I wrap the edge of a metal putty knife with sandpaper and run that edge down the groove. Works darn well.
GOOD JOB on this dresser it's lovely.
I'm always amazed by how much effort makers go through to make a dresser look different from other dressers. This particular build is not an attractive one IMO, so, the fact that you can make this into something good looking is a testament to your skill.

I laughed my head off when I first saw this piece with the awful paint. You displayed a lot of patience with this but it paid off big time! Loved the veneer hacks.

Whoa! That was a seriously an awkward looking piece. The pastels remind me of Saved by the Bell for some reason. Your patching was great! It will only get better with more practice 🙂 . This piece looks waaayyyyyyyyy better now! Beautiful work! Excited for your store to open!
Thanks Emily! Yes extremely awkward looking hahaha. Somehow I think the black helps it not have such a weird dimensional effect. I def need to get better at veneer patching. Watching all your work with plugs and stuff too is so inspiring!
Omg yes!!! This is so good! Try acetone with a stiff nylon brush to get the paint out of the grain. The acetone works so much better than the mineral spirits for that!

I love how modern it looks now. 😍 hey, a side note, just in case it's helpful - your end screen recommended videos are showing up so soon on the video that much of your great "swan" footage is covered up by them. I love that you keep your videos shorter and very much to the point, but I really did personally want to see another minute or so of the "after" footage without other things on the screen on top of it. Watching that paint self level in the sunlight was super satisfying 😌 Great color choice, instantly turned this from ugly to classy! You saved this piece, Clara! Funny side note, I just talked to my dad (a contractor) and told him I was getting a plumbing coupling to attach my sander to my shop vac. Great minds girl! Can't wait for your launch!
