    When I used to squat one of my housemates had one, we named it the crack box. Once you started playing around on it you didn't want to give it back.
    This video has made me break my abstinence, I have my own k01 being delivered next week!

    The kaossilator family went far up on the wishlist somewhere between the app release at the start of quarantine and finding out that they look like klingon control panels. 🤤

    WE ARE REALLY RELATED SOME HOW!!! I also have one of these!! I even had the big one but sold it as I'm more of a mobile musician. Also I have the second version ha ha. This one is the best!! also There is a special secret function where you can make loop for 16 beats and not just 8 beats. You have to hold down something when you are turning it on and right now I can't remember what but let me see if I can conjure it up~~ You are going to have so much fun with it! and you can also chop it up by recording and pressing some stuff...( ha ha you can see it's been a while since I played it!) it's really a blast. AND you are gonna find many uses for it! I enjoyed your excitement. I was lucky because I sold the one I bought new and really missed it and one of my fellow iPad musicians asked me if I wanted his that he didn't use and how could I say no? the music friends I've made have been the best !! like you~~ Enjoy

    Great video! Thanks so much!! Could you talk more about your setup, bc I'm currently limited to using headphones to listen and don't know what I'd need for an RCA setup? Also, is there any way to record directly into a DAW - my Kaossilator's buttons aren't fully functional (loop/record, scale & key buttons)...

    • @musicalmiscellany
      @musicalmiscellany  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure. In this case I'm using an RCA to 1/8" stereo converter, then I'm using a 1/8" stereo to dual 1/4" mono cable into the recording interface (Presonus AudioBox 44). BTW, I would've used an RCA to dual 1/4" cable but I only had 1 and it wasn't long enough to reach. In any case, that's an easy way to get the audio in your DAW. Thanks for watching.

    Good thing I found this video, it saved me from having to buy this POS. I had this memory of some of the kaossilators being cool, like I remember them from the 90s... The big ones have a point to them - sorta - this absolutely doesn't, unless you absolutely NEED a groovebox you can put in your pocket, and pull out and look like a jackass with behind the gym building at school where the cool kids smoke... I'll stick to my novation circuit OG for such occasions. I bet I can throw together a generic rnb, techno or whatever basic song faster on my OG circuit than any man alive can on the KO-1... AND it also won't completely suck as a bonus!

      @noth606 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@musicalmiscellany Maybe I was a bit too harsh, as I read it now... I'd still want one some day, but I had the impression of them being more... complete? As a groovebox type thing I mean. I'm used to things like the old Roland gear and my Novation where in very short time you can throw together something without knowing that much about the device itself.

      @@noth606 it’s definitely not as powerful as some of those other devices. It’s not really a performance-oriented synth at all. No memory or presets or ability to recall anything like that. I like to think of it as simply a producers sketchbook. Still I’ve used it quite a bit. is there a way of giving this a factory reset?
    I set mine to play in the key of C last week and all I get now is that one note wherever I touch the pad instead of being able to play different notes right across the pad. The manual is useless and I can't suss out how to reverse this.
    Very frustrating so it is.
    If anyone can help that would be much appreciated.

      According to the manual, a complete power cycle (removing the batteries) resets everything to the default values. If that's not working, you may have a touchpad failure.

    • @musicalmiscellany
      @musicalmiscellany  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TinkersTales I honestly don't think there's any secret to it, if your computer has an audio in jack, you'd just need a RCA to 1/8" cable (or whatever the computer has for input) and plug it in that way. If the computer doesn't have an audio input, you'd need a USB audio interface like this. www.amazon.com/dp/B071W6YVDR/ Do a search for "USB audio interfaces compared" there's a lot of videos out there about this.
