  • Korg's new KAOSSILATOR PRO Dynamic Phrase Synthesizer/Loop Recorder may look like the KP3 KAOSS Pad Dynamic Effects Sampler, but they are very different... This video shows you what makes them unique.

    Damn. I was going to get a KP3 but then I was curious about the K-Pro (thinking it was an update of the KP3 rather than an entirely different machine). Now that I know the differences I'll have to get both. Poor me :P

    I was fortunate enough to buy the KaossPad K3 off my friend for $100 and a case of beer. He had it stashed in his garage because he lost the power adapter... One quick stop at RadioShack solved that problem! I soon realized how flawless this device worked with sampling. I've had it for about a year now, still one the best effects processors for sampling, especially if your using a independent sampling machine!

    I can answer some questions.
    1) the kaossilator has many presets
    2) the kaossilator can do many interesting effects to the output but the KP3 is simply geared more towards that
    3) no you do not need both. Think of the Kaossilator as a live synth for your performances that has looping capabilities and the KP3 as a looper with alot of dynamic modification possibilities.

      byouno93 it’s funny how no one could understand that lol kaossilator is your (keyboard) kaoss pad is your effects pedal

  • @KorgOfficial
    @KorgOfficial  14 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    @MathBaps You can record live audio (from the inputs) onto a pad, and as long as the REC button is lit, the selected bank will continue to record as it loops. It will overdub on top of what is already recorded, so you can build layered performances the same way you can with the internal sounds.

  • @DjHurt78

    The Kaossilator has more features that involve beat creation, with 200 preset sounds. The Kaoss Pad K3 speaclizes in effects, with just around 120 effects (including drum/synth sounds) in all. Between these two machines, its not about which one is better... its what tour looking for. If your into sampling, get the Kaoss Pad K3, if your looking for beat production, go for the Kaossilator Pro. Either way, you can't go wrong, there both great products made by a great company!

  • @KorgOfficial
    @KorgOfficial  14 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @daeser1 You can't delete a single layer from the Loop Recorder Banks. To record drums by hand, we'd recommend first recording one of the rhythm patterns to another bank, and using it as a metronome for your manual drum recording.

    The second one is C085- Filter Chord.
    Yes, they are both built in.

  • @KorgOfficial
    @KorgOfficial  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ObamaJoker Yes, it is. The KOPro doesn't have as many effects as the KP3, but this filter is one of the effects that they both share.

  • @KorgOfficial
    @KorgOfficial  14 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    @NiGhtprOwIeR Using the KP3, you'd be able to add effects to the guitar, and with the drum machine connected to the MIDI in port, the KP3 could sync to its tempo (and vice-versa using the MIDI out port).
    We do recommend using a preamp with your guitar, and connecting to the line inputs instead.

  • @KorgOfficial
    @KorgOfficial  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @mcrulez13 There is a selection of effects on the KOPro, but not nearly as many as on the KP3. Yes, you can use it with a DJ mixer, and since it has RCA inputs and outputs, connection should be very easy.

  • @KorgOfficial
    @KorgOfficial  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @MaylynnNg That depends. If you're mostly recording from an external source, the KP3 will offer more manipulation. If you want to use built-in sounds to record, you'll want the KAOSSILATOR PRO.

  • @KorgOfficial
    @KorgOfficial  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @dhmacko91 Yes, you absolutely can. The KP3 is better for manipulating external audio, and the KOPro is better for looping it.

  • @KorgOfficial
    @KorgOfficial  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @KungfuMuythaiguy6 Both the KP3 and KOPro have RCA inputs and outputs, as well as 1/4" microphone inputs and headphone outputs. They also have MIDI in/out ports, and USB connections.

  • @KorgOfficial
    @KorgOfficial  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @wiglebienie In both the KOPro and the KP3, You can set the length of the banks individually. If you're referring to time-stretching, that's something you'll only find in the KP3.

  • @AtomicProjects
    @AtomicProjects 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    This video is super-informative! I could not really tell the difference between the KP3 and the KaossilatorPro before.

  • @KorgOfficial
    @KorgOfficial  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @AtomicProjects Plugging a MIDI controller directly into the KOPro will only work if the keys can send customizable CC messages instead of note data. The Axiom does not do this, so it's probable that they were using a computer program (such as MIDI-OX) to translate the MIDI notes from the keyboard to the required CC messages.

  • @KorgOfficial
    @KorgOfficial  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @towsc33 You can trigger WAV or AIFF files, which can be loaded onto the Loop Recorder Bank buttons... but the KP3 has more options for sample triggering and manipulation.

  • @KorgOfficial
    @KorgOfficial  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @cicciobarbara You'll need a computer between the two, but yes, it can be done by using software like MIDI-OX to translate the controller's note messages into the 3 MIDI CC messages needed to trigger the KOPro.

  • @KorgOfficial
    @KorgOfficial  14 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @deroevis You don't even need a computer. The only thing you'll need is a destination for the audio outputs... This could be an amplifier, powered speakers, headphones, a computer, or many other things.

  • @KorgOfficial
    @KorgOfficial  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know this is more of a sampler thing and I have the Pro, but the manual does say that I can load WAV files into it via SD card. In fact, the SD portion of the two manuals is virtually identical. My question is: how do I play the samples (my own songs in WAV form) in the Pro Plus once they are loaded? The manual doesn't say and I don't know which buttons to push to start the song.

  • @KorgOfficial

  • @PHeMoX
    @PHeMoX 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd buy that too, as the sampler-orientated KP3 is almost lacking when it comes to the sound library. I think the Kaossilator Pro on the other hand could do with more sampling.
    Both could do with a 8-track, 16 or 32 beat pattern recorder too. It would be killer to combine the both.

  • @SlicerJen
    @SlicerJen 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @sven209 unless u already have a sound generating device, get the kaossPro. Kp3 mainly manipulates your sounds. I was using the older kaossilator to feed sound to my kp3 until i got the pro.

    Seems to me that we can summarize these tools in terms of existing technology with an analogy:

    More or less.

    @dottdedo I don't get what's your point... What is the matter with them having the same price? Should they price them differently, just so that they are... different?! Wouldn't that be daft? As for the design, they are both part of the same series so they SHOULD look similar!
    By the way, brilliant demo! I think the summary at the end will really help you choose which one to get!

  • @MarctheDarc
    @MarctheDarc 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @deroevis Actually, you shouldnt expect it to work with a computer at all, since Korg doesnt bother to update any of their software - this includes in particular USB-drivers that make any sort of connection to the computer possible... All Mac OSX-users that have updated their OSX are currently without ANY USB-functionality on ANY piece of Korg gear, and several windows users have reported similar problems, although at this point this more circumstantial (soon to get worse no doubt)...

  • @AtomicProjects
    @AtomicProjects 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Intosia Yea, 400 is alot..I waited a year and got my KP3 for 350. But consider that you are getting a synth that you can plug a midi control into and turn it into a 69 key keyboard that could typically run over $1000 and then it doesnt seem so bad.

    How about making your next hardware a dual Kaoss Pad system with both a Kaossilator synth and a Kaoss Pad FX unit in the same bit of kit. With a sequencer too.
    OR a re-release of the Kaoss Pad Quad with MIDI in/out - I loved my Quad but without MIDI apart from in DJ sets I couldn’t find a place for it in my setup so sold it instead of it collecting dust - now ?I miss it but not being able to integrate it into my music production setup I doubt I’ll get another. Who knows though - I love your gadgets - even more so with my iPad Pro’s 12.9” screen for your ever growing list of amazing synths. And Gadget.

    So I understand the tempo detect function, but what about syncing tempos between both modules? Even if they are both running the same tempo, they can still be running out of sync right? That would make live performances difficult in some ways.

  • @blacklite911

    @tylerfolio Both can be either depending on how creative the user is. But the kp3 would be more versatile for DJs in some ways because of the bpm counter and its manipulation of sounds. However, the KP3 could certainly be very useful in the production process because of the sampling and effects as well. I know that the bloody beetroots uses the regular kaossilator in their dj performances as well so its all up to your imagination. I'm not an expert or anything but sky is the limit for both items
