    This has made my mind up on getting the TR8S. Catnapp has shown just how drum machines are incredible inspirational tools in the right hands. Too good.

    Funny to see the negative comments. I love the fact she uses space rather than filling the canvas with metronomic cliches. Congratulations Roland - I applaud the artists you chose for this launch. They are all great because they are all choosing to work in new sounds, with new ideas. This is clearly a fantastic piece of performance kit, lovingly designed for live use. I think some people might be missing the whole point of this machine. If you want standard dance floor grooves then the older TR-8 model or more recent TR-08 will be more to your taste. As someone making and performing electronic music for over 10 years, this is very exciting specifically because it CAN create weird, wonky, asymmetric, alien music. So yes, it makes perfect sense to use sound artists rather than pop musicians to promote it. /Rant

    amazing set!!!!

  • @girlinagale
    @girlinagale 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I went through my set today, I use a five track looper to perform/fx stems along with two Mother 32's. My rule today was to only ever play two tracks max on any session and it works great, there's sonic space, every sound has a purpose and the ear wants a little more. I like minimalism.

    Very good. Love the minimalistic groove and all of this with just the tr 8 and a synth. The girl knows her stuff. Retro feel with punk influenced vox and ace drum impro.

    That was sick: great performance and sound. This is more elctro-punk, stripped down, raw. Could have been legit LES vibe from back in the days. I'd take this over anything with Ableton any day.

      It looks like a MIDI keyboard only. Probably it controls some VST in Ableton visible behind her. Sounds like some FM synth, a little too bright for subtractive synth.

      Misogyny - the catch-all term to describe any criticism of a woman whether valid or not. I personally like to see women getting into the production side of things rather than just singing for a change. It's disappointing when they get slated for it but if they aren't any good then why shouldn't they? I'm not saying Catnapp isn't any good btw.

    A great machine, but this music is a bit boring. It's very repetitive and there's no tune. And the dancing isn't very convincing, there is no point moving to the beat when you are just adjusting a few knobs rather than playing an actual instrument.
