Wow! Thats quite the amount of hate on these videos comment sections. Lots of ego and jealousy for starters. Some of them think they should be in her place and some others think they know what is acceptable and what not. Amazingly big number of experts on the net . At the end of the day, jealousy and ego wins many people over. Thats a sick groove here btw

None of the musical examples I've heard really appeal to me, but they certainly show some of possibilities of this new drum machine. I like the FX on each channel - nice!

Her name is Rebbeca Godfrey and she gets top marks for trying something different.
As far as I know, Roland selects people to do this sort of thing on merit. If they've chosen to use an all female showcase for a new piece of kit , then that's their decision. Having watched some of the others here, they're all refreshingly different.
It takes guts to do this as a) it's a very new piece of equipment & b) unlike an actual studio recording, you can't ' fix it in the mix' so to speak, so whichever take is used is the one that gets printed.
I wish I had a TR8S already, as my mind has been on overdrive as soon as I saw the spec sheet .
how does it seem forced? Why does it not seem forced when every demo is a man for another company like, for example, Elektron? Why is it only considered forced when it's all women?
These days for some reason every company that has nothing to do with gender politics has to show that they are...pro female I guess? And 4/5 artists suck balls on this one. And since it's not easy to find a female electronic artist (because there ain't many, not because their bad) having 5 female artists is not that likely. So tell me, where they picked for their talent, or for their gender?
Moog did the same thing recently with the dfam. Horrid female artists no one has ever heard of. But when you see male (or a mix of male and female) performers or reviewers in this type of promotional content, they have a much better grasp of what they're doing, because the people responsible for making the videos where not constricted on who to pick by gender politics.

Repetitive? lmao. The others were not my cup of tea but i'm not shitting on them and maybe listen to all of them again at how everything is repetitive in some way. That's the point of MINIMALISM (even the classical form of minimalism). Repetitive music is about bringing you into a natural extasy and being hypnotic.

I think the problem here is that the Berlin sessions market this as a one stop solution when in reality its a drum machine that can play samples. Not only that it's the same drum machine (s) we have been listening to for yonks.

Great set better than most
Looks great but (just loudup thinking and no hate or negativity in any way) wouldn't it be better to have 2 or 3 knobs in place of the faders? Those extra knobs could also be assignable. I mean, faders are fun but a knob could be easily as effective and than there's room for more hands on effects. I would prefer more hands on effects than beat juggling fader action :).
You can also assign a volume to one for bringing in a sound slowly like with the faders and there's a mute/unmute function anyway.
Nice piece of kit nonetheless! My interest is peaked 😜

Listen with headphones or turn your speakers to club level. This is awesome. Looks like Roland has listend to their users, and improved a lot since the standard TR-8. You'll be seeing this a lot in clubs next to the Cdj. Way to go Roland.

Women are the future of music and theres a lot of men on these vids subconsciously having a hard time accepting that (P.S. I am a male, and I cannot wait to see how much fathers females take sound. Just look at Laurel Halo, Julia Holter, Alyss, Holly Herndon, Peggy Gou, Avalon Emerson, and Katie Gaitley) It’s alright guys, they deserve a chance to push through the sonic womb.

Sounded real good, but I feel like it was leading up to some heavy 4 on the floor kick drums that never came. I think experimenting with the tempo was cool and bringing it back up built up this intensity of expectation. The artist is talented, I don't think she should shy away from simple dance beat, shes got the experimental part of the performance down. It just needed some low frequency material. Good job nonetheless!

I like the groove very much.Pretty ideas! But the gear doesn't get the sound! As the other demos: cool grooves - but unsatisfying sound. Difficult challenge to use just one gear to start a whole electro session.

Love love love these Berlin Sessions videos. Rewatched them a few times now. Made the mistake of briefly scrolling through the comments sections which are naturally littered with elitist and sexist shit. Pretty unfortunate, but sadly unsurprising.

Was uninteresting until she slowed down the tempo. Would be cool if it when immediately back to 130 bpm instead of the gradual accellerando. I'm excited for the TR-8S (already placed my order), but can't watch anymore of these videos. The music is boring and the gimbal-cam is obnoxious.
