- I decided to join in the #SEPTANDY festivities with my own video. As I don't own any Tandy hardware, the most I could do was to emulate a Tandy 1000 SL/2 in PCem. That said I decided to go with what I know, and that is user interfaces, so join me as we take a wee keek at the Tandy Deskmate 3.0.

The memories are flooding back. So much hangman when I was a kid.
I enjoyed typing Desk at the prompt and coming up with this GUI! This video is gratifying, thanks!
The hangman words were always so obscure. Should have had a category like wheel of fortune.
Aye Aye Jay! .. Yeah I remember Tandy and they had a wee shop in the Trinity Center at the corner of the Bridge St exit/entrance. Yeah I spent alot of time in there. It was half electronic components (like Maplin) and half electronic devices (Mini TV's, HiFi's, Boom-Box's, Music Keyboards, Computers and Computer equipment)..

They would cycle the devices on display every month, so the Computer wasn't always on display. I do miss Tandy. Seeing the DeskMate 3.0 OS again after all these years was a nice wee blast fae the past. Cheers Jay, appreciated.
RadioShack still exists as a computer & electronics store which is currently owned by General Wireless Operations, Inc.
5:36 the sound recording & playback capabilities depended upon if you had one with their Tandy Sound System, an ASIC with the 8bit PSG and a mono 8 bit ADC/DAC (did 44.1 khz!) which did that. i had the 1000 RL, which could record, albeit pitched down {there's a DOS version that VWestlife shows off that does a better job)

I used to have Desk Mate on an 1000 RLX. I miss Desk Mate!
I especially miss Desk Mate!
How Deskmate ran on startup was simply by adding a line to autoexec.bat.
My grandpa had the tandy 1000 and my grandpa and grandma are alive and healthy!
