I write this advice after watching all of Shaans videos and reading Dr. Claire Weeks' book because it helped me recover. You can overcome this. The main thing is if you made it past 1 month with anxiety, then you already know nothing is going to happen to you. You'll be fine so try not to avoid work, outings, traveling, etc. Keep on living. Don't fight the symptoms. Don't use teas, herbs, weighted blankets, meditation, don't let your body know you're fighting. Think of a time when you were most relaxed. For example, you were watching a movie, sports, just sitting down on the couch, looking at the sky. Think hard on how you were breathing when you were super calm. For me it was soft breathing. No deep breaths, no long exhales. Now, from now on to when you're going through anxiety symptoms and difficult moments, where your adrenaline and cortisol are high, and your symptoms are out of control, BREATH how you would when you were in that calm state. No deep breaths, just calm breaths. All the time. At all moments. Eventually your nervous system will pick up on it, that you're safe and there's no threat and you'll get better. It's easier said than done but it took me a few months to drastically reduce my symptoms. Now they're non-existent. Slowly you'll start to build confidence and reduce fear to when eventually you recover.

I had a relapse last year and struggled so I went to counseling and went back on my meds I had been off of for years. Sadly I had the worst reaction to it and struggled for a month with symptoms of the SSRI. Once I got used to it I had a new symptom. Anytime I was anxious I would feel faint. Eventually went off of them and and the faint feeling went away and am finally getting better and finally understanding that the relapses and issues will keep coming back unless I fix my mental game. You can keep slapping a bandaid on the issue but what do you do when you take that bandaid off? That’s what most of us miss during the recovery process. You can’t bandaid anxiety. You have to overcome it and realize you’ll never be fully healed till you get rid of the anxious thoughts. Until you get rid of the bad behaviors that got you there in the first place.

@@treasure2136 it is. Sadly if you don’t continue to learn how to control stress relapse can happen. The negative thinking, the over the reaction to the simplest of difficulties. It goes away. Just keep working at it.

Thanks so much Shaan for making this video and all of your other videos on anxiety/panic attacks. You are so inspirational and helpful, thanks for providing the proper approaches to anxiety/panic as well - acceptance is key to stop the cycle of it.
I personally, most likely inherited panic disorder from my mother(who is in her early 30's, has suffered from PD since she was 11). Fortunately, for me, I started having anxiety attacks just 4 months ago in June. I quickly began researching ways to relieve panic, and came across channels like Therapy in a Nushell, Dr.Mandell, and other videos for it to. All of which have helped change my perspective on panic, the best way to relieve panic is to just embrace it.
    You are a great person❤

This parallels my experience in almost every way. I'm at the point of reading and learning about anxiety. I've been on medication for a year and will be seeing a specialized therapist to work on healing past trauma. I feel like the last year has seen my symptoms very slowly decrease and I'm doing everything I can to not become focused on healing and just focus on living.

💊Your statement truly resonates with my experience. I tried medications for various issues like stomach problems, headaches, vomiting, gastric issues, burning sensations, and more. At one point, I was taking over 20 pills a day but couldn’t even eat half a meal. It became clear that I was being treated the wrong way by my doctor.
🤔That's when I decided to take matters into my own hands and address my anxiety. Slowly but surely, things started to improve. 💪
📣Now, I talk about my journey publicly to help others realize they might be on the wrong path too.💡

Your naturopath sounds a lot like the many that I have brought into my life to try to help me with my anxiety. For some reason it seems like they get offended when you tell them the supplements aren't working for you. I was put on Gabba, l-theanine, motherwort. The Magnesium seemed to take the edge off at least with the rest of them I spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars. I was very Pro natural path but after having absolutely no success with anything they prescribed me I'm a bit hesitant to try one again
