Very little value the way you are using it. However, if used in lower cost experimental autopilot system, g5, GMC307, 3 servos (yaw, pitch, roll), and the Aero 660 connected to the g5 is far lower cost than driving the g5 with a G3X or GTN. Furthermore, a large Ipad can be used with Foreflight and the Foreflight flightplane can be directly downloaded to the Aero 660.

I have to admit, I really can’t see the value in dedicated hardware like this. I also can’t overstate the value of a tablet, even a phone, in the cockpit running Garmin Pilot or ForeFlight, especially when you consider its myriad of other uses. As for Paul’s comment about tablets in cramped cockpits, I usually fly a Cherokee 180, and can haul along an iPad Pro, but I also fly small helicopters, and weight-shift Trikes (light sport), and this is where an iPad mini really shines when paired with a leg strap. Even an iPhone can fit the bill if you really need to save space. It has almost all the functionality of the tablet version, and way more than these dedicated GPS units. Sorry Garmin, but I’ll stick to my phone and tablets! Give us a unit like this with built in ADSB in, and it might be worth a second look.

There are plenty of times when my iPad mini is annoyingly NOT sunlight readable. As well as having the iPad overheat and shut down.

@@savagecub agreed. That is a problem.

Can the 660 pick up XM Sirius Wx and Radio? Can it get traffic from my Stratus 2?

Connects with only Garmin GDL-39 (ADS-B) receiver. Re XM, etc., I read a discussion board note from a Garmin employee saying that's in development.

It doesn’t overheat like a tablet. Mine gets ADSB traffic/weather from the Bluetooth connection to my GTX345. It can Bluetooth to a GDL 52 to receive both ADSB and XM, and I believe it can also control the XM radio channel selection. It can wirelessly control a VIRB camera. If it only would run Garmin Pilot I think it would be over the top great, but with all the things it can do it still won’t do airways. Frustrating.

glare makes it nearly unreadable. needs a screen protector. if garmin can make a nuvi for cars readable in sunlight, it needs to be this way in the cockpit. makes a great mirror! :(
