I have a 2017 and it’s been a fun bike both on and off-road. I bought it to use in the trails but it is also a great city bike. I use it to commute to work and quick trips to the shops a lot. So light and maneuverable in traffic. Much more fun than the old Harley or even my gsxr. It’s no highway cruiser though and this is where it really shows it’s limitations for me. If you’re looking for a bike that you can ride to the trails, have a good time and ride home no truck or trailer needed then you can’t go wrong with the 690 though
I've had one for ten years. Have road all over Texas and all the way to Canada. Looking to move to the Philippines. Was hopping to bring it with my. But I don't thank they will let me.
I'd disagree that the Enduro is the Unicorn bike. Although I'm biased. I had the Husqvarna 701 SM, basically the KTM690 SM in a different suit. Absolutely brilliant all round bike. That said, the seat height was a little high for me, at 5' 7". I could only ever get one toe down. Not ideal for off road.

Price is very close to a manual Africa Twin. This is a great bike indeed, great content!
The unicorns are the 690 SMC R, 701 Husky, and 701 Svartpilen

Save yourself the hassle and buy 1 here instead. The importation costs and customs fees are not worth the hassle for a personal unit.
