thanks for doing these airgun videos. i love how you guys have as much fun with air guns as real firearms. in my country it is imposible to own a firearm, however airguns are alowed. its great to see you guys review this type of shooting. respect.
What amazes me most is that a .457" air rifle retains 60% of its muzzle energy out to 440 yards. Mainly because it's already traveling so slow. It's actually quite efficient from a ballistic standpoint, even if it does drop 50 feet at 440 yards. Compare that to a 55-grain .223 Remington leaving a 20" barrel at 3240 ft/sec. At 440 yards, that projectile only retains 20% of its muzzle energy. That's very inefficient. But because it started out so blazingly fast, it arrives at 440 yards having dropped less than 4 feet. So there is a tradeoff between trajectory flatness and terminal performance of a projectile. You have to give something to get something.
Lewis and Clarke used an Air Gun back in 1803 when they crossed America, it was a 40 caliber best that I remember, the tank of gun was in the stock and held about 900 psig., it took around 1500 strokes of a bicycle type pump to fill it to capacity. They would put on shooting exercises at most Indians Villages to impress the Indians and bring a little fear into them since this air rifle could put a hole in a two in. board at two hundred yards, the Indians were very impressed and knew that they were out gunned by this weapons performance. The word spread among other Indian tribes along the way west so Lewis and Clarke as history told it, had very few run-in's with other Hostile Indians...

This reminds me of a time whilst on the surface (sub sailor) and the weapon's officer decides to have some small arms training. I report to the bridge and am handed a .45 Thompson, semi auto mode. I picked a target and let a round go. It seemed like forever for that bullet to hit the target (about 200 meters give or take). Timing bullet trajectory to target in this video brought back some good memories of my military career. Cheers!

Can we see how far a 12 gauge will kill? Maybe video game designers will stop making them ineffective after five feet. EDIT: You don't have to explain weapons balancing, my position is that the balancing of most games is flawed.
If it's more effective shotguns you're looking for, ever tried Killing Floor? Both 1 and 2 have real nice shotguns. Even the starting Mossberg Rolling Thunder (a 20 gauge shotgun, IIRC) feels punchy and can take a Clot's head off at 20 feet or so.
The starting shotgun in KF2 is the best starter weapon in the game. I always use it until the last wave, but i buy the double-barrel and AA12 as well. And oh, i have a Precious skin for it :P
I don’t know if anybody’s done this, but in terms of penetrating power and damage at say 50 yards, 75 yards, 100 yards for hunting which will have the most penetrating power a 177 caliber, 22 caliber, or a 25 caliber? You could also test three different pellets, in terms of penetrating power for each caliber. I think it would be very interesting.

Question: do you find you get that supersonic crack in normal weather conditions? According to Wiki and other sources, air rifle bullets start having a significant drop in efficiency if they fully break the sound barrier, though there could be many reasons for exceptions in this case, hence my question.
I'm curious if there is a difference between the simple description and the actual target? A "pine board" or "pine baffle" vs a plank of pine. The difference being, one is simply a plank of pine wood, as the other is multi-layer, glued plywood. The thickness may be the same, I don't know about the "harness" or what is required to "punch" through it.
This may be a dumb question and I've done zero research, but can you swap out the small tank on the rifle like a magazine per say and carry a few small tanks vs dragging around scuba Steve?
The on gun tank will give you about 5 to 10 shots depending on what weight of bullet you are using. There are smaller tanks called buddy bottles that you can tote around with you, usually a 100 cubic inch buddy bottle will give you about 5 or 6 full fills on the gun and will easily fit in a small back pack.
I just got the Seneca Dragon Claw from Air Gun depot, it's the .50 caliber dual tube. It delivers 670fps at the muzzle pushing a .50cal pellet. I really didn't know what I was getting into, but I bought a bottle, rather small one it's a 110 cu in bottle and went on eBay and bought a YONGHENG 110V Air Compressor Pump PCP Electric 4500PSI High Pressure USA 30MPa. So now I wait to get all my stuff, got the air rifle, but won't get the pellets until Monday April 4th and not sure yet, when I get the bottle or the compressor, just ordered them today, eBay say's the compressor should be here from Wednesday April 6th to Friday April 8th, no estimate yet from Air Gun Depot, but to be fair I ordered after the working day and they are pretty good on their shipping times, usually a day or two. I'm in PA and they're in Ohio and sometimes comes from Utah. I'm like a kid at Christmas, can't wait to open the box. 🤓
Just multiply by .9 for a rough estimate, seriously its not that hard and if its in feet divide by 3 first. If you want it dead on accurate its actually .9144 ;)
Jan Hendrik Franke yes 1 yard is equal to .9144 of a meter. There is DECIMAL POINT there in case you missed it.So to convert yards to meters you multiply them by .9144 to get your answer in meters...........Or would you prefer to convert yards into inches so you can use centimeters or millimeters first and then into meters?lol
I might add that the board you used was actually laminated plywood, not s solid pine board, which is harder to penetrate than the pone board would have been. Very impressive indeed!
It's crazy how far air rifle technology has come. Seeing this video from 6 years ago versus air rifles that you can now get for a couple hundred bucks is crazy. I purchased a .357 caliber air rifle and it will launch a 160 grain slug at over 1,000 feet per second.
This would be a good option for the boating enthusiasts, for offshore and blue water? Where other countries maritime Police and Customs laws will restrict firearms on sea vessels, but a pirate won't know the difference when hit with a silent high velocity pill from one of these bad boys? Maybe a spear fishing version could also be made?
How far will a .30 Carbine kill? :P Kind of a nice old Army revisit I think, I'm sure they tested the M1 Carbine on pine board too, And I'm sure the myths of the .30 carbine not penetrating North Korean winter coats is still persisting even though it has been debunked by Ian McCullum
I'm really sorry to everyone in the comments... my family was brought up not believing in weaponry. I think we only have cooking knives to defend ourselves. Thusly I've never learned ANYTHING about weapons. Can anyone direct me to some places where I can learn about these. I find all the science and engineering and human ingenuity fascinating. I'd be very greatful. I'd rather UNDERSTAND guns BEFORE I make my opinions on it. Sorry for the book of text.
This guy is good, look up Fundamentals of Firearm Safety, go to a local gun club and take an introduction to firearms course, take a fundamentals of competitive shooting course...there's a lot of helpful people out there who can set you straight. There are plenty of wannabes and people who have never taken any professional training too...so before you plunge in the deep end, seek the professional instruction from a NRA certified instructor. DISCLAIMER: Guns are weapons, and as such they are designed to kill or maim. Therefore, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with safe handling before you pick one up, and no one you meet on the internet or see in a video can be substituted for professional instruction.
This video definitely has me eye ballin the Iraqveteran8888 combo on airgun depot :D Cant say I agree with the assessment that coyotes are worthless but people are getting way too salty about it.
You could try to hand pump it, but I’d highly recommend you just use a compressor - if you don’t already have one, they’re convenient to have regardless. You can probably get a few shots before the velocity begins to drop off.
That is incredible Mr Sharpshooter. I am very impressed with those hits from those distances. Was wondering if you could test the deadly range of a BLACK OPS .177 nitro piston pellet rifle. just picked up one for pest control around the horse stable and around the house. raccoons, possums, groundhogs and the occasional snake.
I have the hammer and I've had it go through 2 frying pans, a half inch pine board and a metal 5 gallon bucket cover and lost in the dirt hill behind it. Had no problem going through all of them. I like shooting cinder blocks with it bc they explode. Only thing I've found to consistently stop the .50 slug is a piece of 3/16 solid steel. Shit they use on elevator motors. That metal also stops 9mm rounds also though lol. Cops were called when I was shooting one time and they took pics and had all sorts of questions bc they said straight out that it could kill someone. I added, "and at 200 yards but that's not what I got it for" lol.
I find the idea that any animal is worthless terribly brash and disgustingly disrespectful. Yes there may be reasons to hunt such animals, but at least have respect.
***** You know, I hear that phrase "If you don't want to see it, don't watch" a lot around the internet. I have a right to watch these videos even if I don't agree with them, and I also have the right to comment my disagreements if I may have any. I can also shoot that useless phrase right back at you. "If you don't want to hear me complain, then don't read my comment."
You come to watch a video you don't agree with and start an argument. Just don't comment and there won't be any drama. And we don't see animals as worthless, they provide meat, fur and many other valuable resources.
michael lester Well Iraqvet8888 clearly said "coyotes and other worthless critters." Maybe instead of the material worth of an animal like meat, fur, ect. maybe view the worth of that animal by it's life itself.
I do agree that worthless is a little harsh, but still, they aren't doing anything for us. If a pack of Coyotes attacked you then you would probably want them "taken care of"
Worthless critters huh dude? I love guns, I don't love killing animals for sport other than food. Are you having problems with coyotes killing your life stock? If not, maybe you could just not kill them. I'm sure im going to get a lot of shit for leaving this message.
Don't ever shut up because your comments are extremely rational and well taken by those who want the information without the crap! None of us are experts that's why we watch to learn and it's refreshing to hear pure data from a video as you explain it! We all have an ego but want to learn that which we do not know so keep the rational coming and teach us all, ballistics is something we all want to know, it makes us a better shooter! Thanks Frank
I really enjoy your vids, I've got a .50 cal hammer, air guns are kinda hard to explain to my friends who only know powder guns. But I think they are impressive, I feel lucky to have chosen a .50 because of the access to so many bullets in .50 , I use black powder bullets in mine at .510 . My friends are amazed at the power and accuracy, even my big bore loving friends smile when they touch one off and feel the stock push into their shoulders from an air gun. LOL don't tell the government these things are bad ass. And can be mailed right to your house.
Dont use black powder bullets in an air rifle you are damaging the rifling and wearing out the barrel ! the lead used for BP is much to hard, air rifle slugs are a softer lead
I didn't even know they made 45 caliber air guns. but holy crap a mortal wound at 400 yards from an air gun is just about the craziest thing I've ever seen.
And here's me jumping for joy when I hit a 🎯 at 20 metres in back garden with my beast of a weihrauch 12 ft/lb air rifle Hw90! 😎 Gun & Nice videos Sir;) 👍

how far 50 bmg fmj can penetrate level 3 bodyarmor please
I doubt they are gonna find a scope or a range long enough
tooo much...3000-4000 yards but you dont have enough accuracy to hit the bullet from this distance
Yeah, range on that thing is over 4 miles depending on what platform it's being fired from. That would be a hell of a video though.
If you use two level 3+ plates it is stopped.
no, no its not. A 50BMG Black Tip can penetrate a 1inch thick piece of AR500 Steel within 2-3 rounds from almost any distance you put it at.

thank you for your interest ,sir
Just multiply by .9 for a rough estimate, seriously its not that hard and if its in feet divide by 3 first. If you want it dead on accurate its actually .9144 ;)
SouthJerseySound 9144 Meters?
Jan Hendrik Franke yes 1 yard is equal to .9144 of a meter. There is DECIMAL POINT there in case you missed it.So to convert yards to meters you multiply them by .9144 to get your answer in meters...........Or would you prefer to convert yards into inches so you can use centimeters or millimeters first and then into meters?lol
He said he only has about 6 shots left no pressure!! Cause it's on air and it has no more pressure!!! Lol
HumorVortex Mosco you can get thousands of shots out of a tank like that...
I might add that the board you used was actually laminated plywood, not s solid pine board, which is harder to penetrate than the pone board would have been. Very impressive indeed!
"It's raining, but you know what? I don't care." what a badass.
That was awesome guys!!! PLEASE DO A VID WITH DEMO RANCH!!!!
I’m actually disappointed that the tank on this thumbnail wasn’t a joke and indeed was that enormous.
For that 60 pound squirrel.
Ted from Ted's hold over would of nailed the 300 yard shot with his eye's closed. 😉
Was thinking the same thing
bruhh he does amazing shots lol
+julien aguilar it's a shame he doesn't post often
He probably just edits out all the shots he missed
It's crazy how far air rifle technology has come. Seeing this video from 6 years ago versus air rifles that you can now get for a couple hundred bucks is crazy. I purchased a .357 caliber air rifle and it will launch a 160 grain slug at over 1,000 feet per second.
What's the name of the gun ?
Can you imagine if they made that in 22. Caliber, the pellets would go at like 3000fps 😂
Harry but then it would be way to inaccurate but good thinking
Fuck yea bud. Make some special pellets or even just put 22lr bullets in it. That thing would fly
They do make it in .22 also 177. .20 and .25
Adam Willeby no they dont
Are you sure they don't?
I watched 12 minutes of "One More shot for good measures" -_-

YOU SHOULD STRAP THAT TANK ON YOUR BACK AND GO TAKE CARE OF THE INJUSTICE THAT'S GOING ON IN LOS ANGELES LOL
LOL spearfishing....
They are NOT silent ...
@@dennisriblett4622 He's shooting without ear protection. That means it's pretty silent. More silent than moar suppressed firearms.
How far can 7.62x25, 5.45x45 or 9x18 penetrate?
Very cool video brother. You’ve actually got me checking out air rifles. Who woulda thunk it. Stay safe
SEMPER FI
Definitely the Texan in .45 for this Canadian... The SS is a prohibited weapon in Canada... BAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Join the military. They'll teach ya all you need to know.
Yo, bro superb
did you just call coyotes worthless?
sometimes they are pests.
"We're not made of sugar"
I love the Putin reference!
Its not Putin reference people just say that.
02:10 lol that’s an “emoootional daaaamage” part 🤣
"We're not made out of sugar." 😂
Such a southern saying 😂😂
No such things as worthless creatures
The first shot at three hundred yards on the wood look like it went almost through the head of that fox metal Fox down range
This video definitely has me eye ballin the Iraqveteran8888 combo on airgun depot :D
Cant say I agree with the assessment that coyotes are worthless but people are getting way too salty about it.
Eric's favorite number is 11...
Because it's another one!
Wow , good video guys , keep them coming I love this channel 👏.
How many shots from an oxygen bottle that size anybody?
Lux can you pump it by hand?
Yea
It's a lot of work but you can
You could try to hand pump it, but I’d highly recommend you just use a compressor - if you don’t already have one, they’re convenient to have regardless. You can probably get a few shots before the velocity begins to drop off.
You can get a Benjamin pcp pump and just pump the gun up with it and forgoe a tank entirely
Define "Worthless critters"
Worthless critters: YOU, RATS, BIRDS, BOAR I could go on if you want...
people like you are the reason why people kill each other, greetings frtom germany you worthless creature.
Juergen Engelmann Lol you talking to me?
Juergen Engelmann greetings from England you pathetic excuse for a human
Liberals lol
this was SUCH a cool video! loved it, just found your channel 👍🏻👌🏼
That is incredible Mr Sharpshooter. I am very impressed with those hits from those distances. Was wondering if you could test the deadly range of a BLACK OPS .177 nitro piston pellet rifle. just picked up one for pest control around the horse stable and around the house. raccoons, possums, groundhogs and the occasional snake.
be careful the trigger break
Thats a lot of money for something my 40$ crosman 1000 can do the same things as
That gun looks like a pain in the ass to move around
I have the hammer and I've had it go through 2 frying pans, a half inch pine board and a metal 5 gallon bucket cover and lost in the dirt hill behind it. Had no problem going through all of them. I like shooting cinder blocks with it bc they explode. Only thing I've found to consistently stop the .50 slug is a piece of 3/16 solid steel. Shit they use on elevator motors. That metal also stops 9mm rounds also though lol. Cops were called when I was shooting one time and they took pics and had all sorts of questions bc they said straight out that it could kill someone. I added, "and at 200 yards but that's not what I got it for" lol.
coyote and worthless critters? I feel bad for your humanity
If a pack of Coyotes attacked you then you would probably want them "taken care of"
Wish i could get this rifle in Sweden :(
www.rojal.si/en/shop/airguns/air-rifles/gunpower-texan.html there u go , may not be legal but oh well yolo
Why would you even need it when you have FX? They make some of the nicest, most technologically advanced airguns in the world!
im an airgun noob aswell. didnt know :P ill check em out

I can imagine someone shooting back at you and hitting that advanced technology tank :)))
Impressive, please do more tests with different caliber pellets please!
it would suprise me if some special forces use air rifles!
The USA navy seals use a 9-millimeter firing pneumatic rifle with a built-in sound suppressor to take out sentries quietly with zero muzzle flash.
Lewis and Clark used one-1804-1806.
My grandmother always said after the rain sugar melts, shit floats you, you should be fine.
$1000 airsoft gun? Nah fam I'm good with a red ryder
I mean... It can litterly kill.
Thanks Frank
this is bad ass. they should make a select fire one. it would be epic. I like the sound it makes.
Awesome ! A very impressive demonstration! Thank you for this!
Great video!
Best Texan air rifle test video. Thanks Bud.
Thank you for your service!!
And here's me jumping for joy when I hit a 🎯 at 20 metres in back garden with my beast of a weihrauch 12 ft/lb air rifle Hw90!
😎 Gun & Nice videos Sir;) 👍
