SEATED HIP WORKOUT
Warmup - Marching on Spot - 30 seconds
Piriformis (Buttocks) Stretch - 30 seconds
Adductor (Groin) Stretch - 30 seconds
Hip Flexions x 10 each leg
Straight Leg Raise x 10 each leg
Isometric Hip Adduction - 5x5 second holds
Isometric Hip Adduction - 5x5 second holds
Hip Extension with theraband x 10
Hip Abduction with theraband x 10
Hip Flexion with theraband x 10
(To get straight into the exercise go to 35 seconds).
Make sure you do the warm-up before beginning.

I am thrilled to have found More Life Health Seniors on UTube and Facebook. It has been a god send during COVID-19 and I will keep doing Mike's exercises every day. I have let all my friends know and they are also very happy to have found a way of exercising without going to the gym and spending $$$$$. I have found I am a lot fitter and able to walk up stairs and get out of my chair after hours at work on the computer and not feel joint pain. Thanks a lot, Mike!

@@MoreLifeHealth i messed up my discs with some wrong crossfit maneuvres, and could barely walk thereafter....it took me 2 years of physio to get normal and still there are days when one is too tired to exercise....and your workout has been a godsend for me because i can do it seated without standing...thus maintaining my blood circulation which is so important for spinal health.

I hurt my hip wearng heels i also experienced lower back strain. Dr said sprain in hips and back. The exercise, put one leg on knee and push down is very painful to do on affected hip I also noticed how quick it was to warm it up and pain gone post exercises. This routine feels great on my hip and back will keep doing. Thanks very much from Aotearoa New Zealand.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to share these exercises, as well as for the hope & guidance you give. Your explanations are well-paced, so anyone can follow along. You have no idea how grateful I am. I'm in my early twenties but have been dealing with health problems that severely weakened me. It has been hard to find exercises that won't further damage my body, so it was amazing to see this channel. I have to start slow, but I'm hoping to one day fully complete all the exercises in this video. I wish you all the best!

Love this hip exercises. Feel good every time I do them. Since I started doing all these hip, core, balance, leg strengthening, resistance band exercises each day, I rarely have stiffness or pain from my hip arthritis. Thank you Mike. You're a God sent.

The marching was doable, but the first stretch... I cannot put my ankle up on top of my knee. At all, on either side, not even close. Is there another modified version of this stretch? I also cannot get up from the floor, so no floor exercises. I'm really looking to open my hips, and although I'm not a senior, my body does act like it is. Was sick and sedentary for more than a decade and now eating is all fixed, but looking to fix the mobility issues. Thanks!

Thanks so much. Is it ok to do the ankle on knee if the left hip is hurting and I can barely get it up? Would appreciate some advice as to an alternative and do we force ourselves if sore. Am glad I found you.

Very simple yet complete routine !
Two questions- Is there a difference between the isometric hip abduction exercise & the banded one where you pick feet up & abduct ?
Also, will try to get my 97 yo father to do but will do without resistance for a bit & fewer reps, then build up. Should we do every day ?

Much easier sitting on a chair rather than lying on the floor as other videos show.
Hi Sandy. Yes they will. See how you go with them. If at any time the bursitis is to get painful, ease back on the exercises! :)
Thank you so much. I was in an accident and for 5 months, not being able to stand more than 5 mins. I was finally ready for surgery. Had my back worked on with cortisone shots. had been going to a gym every other day to keep my muscles strong. Then came the covid virus: gym closed, surgery cancelled, can’t walk. I found your seated exercises and they are great. I always do at least two different sessions everyday. Thank you

I am a newbie to your exercises and have been trying several of them which I enjoy and are really helping. Thank you. Though not a senior - I have osteoarthritis in joints and back and can only work a few steps without horrible pain. I also need to lose some weight. Can you put up some more vids (aerobic) as well as more for core stability. Please keep up the good work - it is very much appreciated.

Hey Lynn! It's great to hear you are getting benefit out of the exercises. Stick to once a day and start with one set of 10 reps (if you can) and gradually build this up to 3 sets of 10. From here you can start adding in other exercises and vary the repetitions.
Just started physical therapy for hips and knees and hip flexors are definitely an issue for me. Just did your sequence here and think this will be a great adjunct to what the therapist is already having me do!!!! Thanks for adding this to my routine!!! Great instruction, too!!!

Hello I do this exercise every day. I have calcification and degeneration in my spine and osteoarthritis in my hips. Please can you put a video up and a link for strengthening the QL muscle and the lower back? I have constant pain the lower back - I can't sit for very long and also, the QL muscle bothers me all the time. If possible, seated exercises? Your channel is a fantastic help to me. Thank you for your efforts for us 'seniors'.
