      Yeah but he's already showing a bad habit , which is leaning against a table and shooting at a downward angle. He should take a step back from the table stand straight up and down make sure his POA is at the right Height of what a real person would be standing at.

    • @JuniorHtx98
      @JuniorHtx98 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Peter Johnson You really can’t even tell if he’s actually leaning on the table considering he’s just real close to it. Now, to be fair, you would be wrong by assuming that a “real person” would only be standing. You never know where any person posing a threat could be or how he’d be positioned. I’m almost sure no kind of training can protect you from someone hiding on the ground or kneeling waist high. You just kind of have to be aware and cautious in any dangerous situation and train for all possible scenarios.

      Y'all made me go back and watch the whole thing again .
      He's not touching the table , it's the camera angle , and the angle of the shadows .
      His stance is well within the norms for Isosolies , if anything more upright than many .
      Target vertical positioning is well within the norms for LE training facilities . And it's not really an issue . In the real world , violent felons don't selectively only attack victims of exactly the same height, and only on flat & level ground .

    Here in Nevada the course of fire for a concealed firearms permit is 30 rounds. 6 shots at 3 yds,12 shots at 5 yds,and 12 shots at 7 yds. There are no mag changes or time limits. I did my renewal class back in July 2015 and wow you should have seen some of the misses at that short distance!

    Qualifying ranges may differ from place to place. The one I did had targets flip to face the shooter then turn sideways at the end of the allotted time. Take the time to practice with your firearm and be confident in your ability and the mechanics of your firearm in the unlikely event of a malfunction. Range safety officers will not help you clear a malfunction during the test. Also make sure you are aware that the paperwork processing can take a couple months from application submittal to delivery of the LTC card. Stay safe and don't do anything stupid to make the legal carry community look bad.

    Seems to me that to show proficiency with your carry pistol you should be able to present the gun from where ever you carry it in a safe and efficient manner. There is way more to having a CHL and being safe and proficient than this test.If this is all you have to do to be able to carry on the street I personally would prefer you left the weapon in the safe.

  • @armadillotoe
    @armadillotoe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    At most ranges, between the shots you would want to hold the gun a low ready instead of angled up, but I guess he has a mountain of sorts behind the target.

    • @filianablanxart8305
      @filianablanxart8305 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well , with the camera angles and field of view , we can't see the complete dimensions of his backstop . But on typical ranges, the ready position is pointing the muzzle too high .

    This is the way I was taught... not to have sights on target until the beep or firing command. I've seen several videos where the shooter is on sight prior to firing command, which in my mind, defeats the reason for the timed requirement. Who's correct ?

    On the 3 yard test the second exercise you loaded 10 rounds. What if the handgun you are using does not hold that many rounds? As in a small gun with a 6 round magazine.

    Question: In the 10 shot sequence where groups of 2 must be fired in 3 seconds, do they allow you to reload between those 2-shot groups? I plan to use a 5-shot revolver, so I need to reload after the fourth round to do my next 2-shot group.

      Wyoming and Texas have a reciprocal agreement. Here is from the Texas DPS website: "Texas has signed a reciprocal agreement with Wyoming, allowing citizens with concealed handgun licenses issued by Wyoming to legally carry concealed handguns in Texas, and vice versa."

    I'm brazilian and I'm 18 years old. I think I'll do a language exchange to Austin, Texas and I'd like to know more about courses of fire. I love guns and, in the USA, people have more liberty to defend yourself than here in Brazil. So, Idk if u can answer my question, but I'd like to know if I can do a short course of fire being a foreign and w/ 18 years old. I'll stay there for 1 month

      Unless the law changed again. A green card holder can get a LTC in Texas but you have to prove 6 months residency in that state, but I think the age is 21 yrs. But, just get info from the state because law is fluid and perhaps one day we can have Constitutional Carry for Texas citizens.
