      Look at the recent FL vs Reeves incident. Reeves a retired Tampa FL police captain & Sea World security manager had a lethal force event in a Wesley Chapel FL movie theater. That court trial took 8, eight 😲 + years to resolve. Reeves was found not guilty. The SAO & media groused over the 🍿 murder trial. It irks me as a FL tax payer how LE & court SAO staff made this case go 8yr for nothing, zero!

      It's the nature of government. 262,000,000 democide deaths in the 20th century (not military casualties). Government is the biggest homicidal threat to a human.
      The U.S. government is supposed to support a "fair" trial; fair by _their_ definition. No way is having a limitless budget against the accused and some poorly paid public defender fair. And the judge is an employee of government who, despite a clear conflict of interest, is expected to be fair and/or impartial.
      You're right. It's so sad, it's laughable. My pet theory is that normies have brainwashed themselves after watching about 30 years of cop/lawyer shows; morality plays disguised as real proceedings. They are shocked when it hits the news that a "good" cop/lawyer has done some morally repulsive stuff. They could have just watched an hour of _Audit the Audit_ and schooled themselves.

      The "do-gooder" gun owners shall eventually destroy the 2nd amendment on their own, by self-righteousness!
      What part of shall not infringe do the "do-gooder" gun owners not understand!
      Nearly half the nation are convicted felons for victimless non-violent offenses who are PERMANENTLY and ETERNALLY BANNED from possessing a firearm or even a single bullet, for life! (Self-righteous gun owners shall eventually lose their guns & bullets too!)
      FACT: There are more non-violent than violent felons without their God-given gun rights thanks to self-righteous do-gooders! If they were legitimate insurance companies then, based on the amount of money they collect, they should be paying out hundreds of millions per year for bail and lawyers on self-defense claims. Look at the news. That isn't even possible.
      I can't find any evidence that any of them have ever paid a claim and they certainly don't pay the hundreds of millions that a legit insurance company would pay.
      The odds are about 1,000 to 1 that you will never have a covered event in your entire life. The average customer will pay for about 75,000 years before they have a claim.

There is nothing in the TOS that says they wont accept my claim for a civil action, only after my personal, or Uber's insurance declines to represent me. Uber wouldn't shell out 10¢ in a civil case against me, and my automotive insurance would throw me under the bus in a microsecond. For the record, CCWSafe does not provide legal services, they just pay for the legal team, court costs, exhibits, private investigators, and expert witnesses. USCCA paid for her defense until about halfway through, and then refused to pay out for the last half of her defense. She never pled guilty, and her dues were all paid up. There was obviously no issue, as USCCA paid for the first half of her defense. So clearly something came out in her case, where USCCA themselves made the determination that she was guilty or something along that lines, before she had even been found guilty in a court of law as no ruling had come down yet. Yeah sorry, but I'll hard pass on USCCA since they literally threw one of their highest level members to the wolves in the middle of their defense on a murder charge. Many people have asked USCCA to explain why they chose to do this, and they remain silent and will not give an explanation. If they had a logical reason and defense for doing this, I'm pretty sure they would have explained it to everyone. Instead they've chosen to remain silent. But by all means, enjoy USCCA 👍

      @@davidjs74 I haven't yet. The way I look at is that the USCCA is playing the marketing/business game. The question is, how do they sell a product while limiting our liabilities and increasing profits? They want as many subscriptions as possible, but mitigate the claims in two ways: Loopholes in the coverage and training/education. There are a lot of loose cannons in the 2A community that have a poor understanding of the law or concepts about self-protection. Hopefully education cuts down on that. When they do stupids things, the loopholes will mitigate the liability. The thing is, how far will they go? From what I have read, it maybe that even too many good claims have been put in and that affects profits, so they become over vigilant in evaluating claims. We see that with health insurance as well as vehicle insurance. The thing is with this type of insurance, there's really nothing to subrogate to recover losses, so it's safer to just screw folks if you can. In the end, the motive for the owners and executive staff at the USCCA to keep in good fettle and here we are. I suspect rates will go up eventually. Kevin M of the USCCA replied to topic in a video, but he kind of skirted the issue, but who does he work for? I think companies in general have a hard time admitting their first priorities are themselves, meaning the executive staff.

As an aside, it seems to me that if the State can go up against you with virtually unlimited financial resources, groups attorneys and investigators, connections to law enforcement that allow them to sift through evidence you may not have access to, other than in the "discovery" phase where you get to see what harmful things they dug up... but may never see exculpatory evidence they ran across from those same sources, then you get aquitted... the State should cover your legal costs, including time off work. If they don't have to indemnify you, then the State has no reason to worry about bringing unjustified charges against you. It's just wrong! Heck, they could outlaw guns, file suit against every gun owner in America that refuses to comply and drive them to bankruptcy regardless of innocence or the illegality of the gun ban... then just walk away.

    I have owned a gun since 2010, but never thought about CCW until most recently. Since the guns I do own aren't ideal for CCW, I went ahead and purchased the a gun with CCW in mind and got my CCW permit, but I have yet to actually conceal carry, partly because I am still getting use to firing the gun I purchased, shopping around for the best CCW holster, and now looking into CCW coverage before I do start to carry. This video was very helpful in really taking the time to do some serious research about some form of CCW insurance. My philosophy is it is better to have it and not need it, then to not have it when I may find myself needing it, especially since financially there would be no way I could pay for a great and reliable attorney. When I think about CCW insurance, I am reminded about how when I bought my used Jeep I almost opted out on paying for a warranty. A year later I needed to get a new transmission, which would have cost me roughly would have costed me 5k, but luckily I had the warranty that covered that and I ended up just paying out of pocket $350, while the warranty covered the rest. the same thing also happened with my home's HVAC system needing to be replaced. Luckily, when I bought my home I also bought a Home warranty. Long story short, instead of paying about 3k for a new HVAC, I only ended up paying $150 as my warranty covered most of it. When it comes to CCW coverage, I don't want to be paying an arm and a leg for something that might have a fine print that I missed, as my life would be on the line, so I also had to think about my budget financially, while also making sure that not only can I afford it, but also that I I have the right coverage at a reasonable rate, because while I don't expect that I will ever have to draw my gun, there is still that statistical chance, especially with all the issues that is going on today in our country. Lastly, this video was an eye opener, Thank you.

Because the biggest take away I got was, even if I'm 100% justified in having to use self defense, sounds like I'm screwed because our legal system is that ridiculous that unless you can pay 100K or more in Lawyers...or become such a national media circus you can get people to pay for you, you're more or less screwed even if you get acquitted

  • @OGSontar
    @OGSontar ปีที่แล้ว +12

    The 'catch', and this applies across the board, is that _NO_ insurance in the USA can cover you for a crime. Period. If the charge is say, murder and you plea bargain down to any lessor crime, you have still admitted to a crime, and poof! No insurance. It's a hell of a catch 22.
    Take the plea, serve minor time but pay back all monies spent on legal fees by your 'shooter's insurance', or let that insurance cover the legal fees against a first degree murder charge, with your very life on the line. AND, if found guilty, not only do you suffer the penalty by law, but again lose the insurance's payment of your legal fees, and have to repay them.
    Welcome to the land of the free.
    And, yes, I carry. I went with USCCA for my 'shooter's insurance', and hope like hell I never need it. So, should it happen, I would do as follows:
    1. Walk (in my case limp) away. All parties go home tonight.
    2. Talk away - soft words can calm things sometimes. It's OK, you don't have to win all verbal battles, and I don't give a damn if my opponent thinks I'm a wussie loser. De-escalate as fast as I can. All parties go home tonight.
    3. YELL "OK GOOGLE, EMERGENCY CALL 911" "OK SIRI, EMERGENCY, CALL 911" and all cell phones in the range of my voice dial for help. Scream my location, my description, and nature of danger, if possible. Outcome uncertain, but I called the cops first...
    4. Pepper spray, cane-fu. Outcome uncertain.
    5. Hope I don't get to step 5, but if so, defend my life with my sidearm. Might be no one goes home. If I'm still alive, then holster weapon, move to safety, and...
    6. Call 911, request cops, EMS. Give my location, my description, brief description of situation, hang up. Hope my roommate gives my kitty some scritchies for me.
    7. Call USCCA (they're on speed dial).
    8. Cooperate completely with law enforcement, but raise right to silence, and raise right to lawyer, then _STFU_ and wait for lawyer.
    9. Follow lawyer's advice to the letter.
    10. Fight in court until I win or lose, but *never* take the plea. I'm not a criminal, and won't admit to being one just to avoid a trail.
    Of course, real life has a way of messing up the best laid plans, so you know, go with the flow but remember the plan if you can.

    • @tonyl3762
      @tonyl3762 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    • @RodCornholio
      @RodCornholio ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the idea to yell commands to phones. Not sure it would work, but definitely worth a try. Also...as far as real life messing up plans, here's a couple of wrenches in the machine: a significant other and/or kids...and older age. Here's how your dark night goes:
      If you plead guilty, you go away for say, 5 years. Not fun, but you're confident a few regular conjugal visits with the wife will keep the pool boy at bay, your kids will still call you daddy, and if you're 65 years old, you'll just have another wrinkle, tooth extracted, or insulin adjusted. No fun, but doable because there are lights at the end of your tunnel.
      If you're FOUND guilty through a trial, you go away for _20 years_ . Your wife leaves you, you have no property, no good job prospects, your kids grew up without you and don't know you (or want to), and if you were 65 years old going into the slammer...well, the state has burial space on their property because that's where you'll be.
      So, in this hypothetical example, on this dark night, the best laid plans fade away and you start thinkin', "Plea deal."

    I've been concerned about my USCCA coverage for one big reason:
    Attorneys like Marc Victor have said that the USCCA will come after you for your legal expenses if you plead guilty to ANYTHING. He also said that 90+% of cases end in plea deals, so that sounds like there's a very high chance you'll be covered, but then have to pay it all back!
    Attorney Andrew Branca says you also can't appeal any convictions because you won't be able to pay. The USCCA won't cover you.
