Excellent as always Pete, I remember seeing the original footage of this at the time and my jaw dropped when I saw the Aer Lingus A330’s first attempt… Aer Lingus pilots are some of the best in the world at dealing with such conditions. One of my personal favourite aviation memories is, ironically, being stuck on one of their BAe 146’s as a kid. It was originally scheduled to be a regular Airbus A320 but it was changed to one of their BAe 146’s last minute for whatever reason. We were flying from Cork to Heathrow and we got placed in a holding pattern for an hour over Heathrow due to a storm below us, the plane was shaking like crazy and my grandmother was clutching her rosary beads so hard they left a permanent imprint… but I absolutely loved it! Little 6 year old me thanked the Captain and crew when I walked off the plane and it made them all chuckle as they didn’t expect it from a kid my age apparently… great memories. 😁☘️
I had an air croatia flight in to glasgow and I felt the aeroplane thrown around like my wife caught me having a pint with my pals on a sunday morning. The landing, however, was fantastic.
I often wish Aer Lingus had decided to buy some A350s or even A380s. Or even a few 777s or 787s. Of course, the DAA (Dublin Airport Authority) would then have redesign the gates probably in Terminal 2 for the bigger planes to fit etc. I just think that such a big airline having A330s as their biggest planes is a tad weird. I do love a good crosswind / windy day watching the aircrafts landing. Nice video! : )
Thank you for the video, and the commentary. :) Have you come across engine pod stikes on takeoff? Is that something that could in throry happen, on say an Airbus / Boeing passenger aircraft?
Pete As a recent subscriber to your channel and following on from watching your Q&A bio there are a couple of things I want to say. Firstly and making no apologies for being a touch american, thank you for your service. I hadn't realised your served in the RAF and to be honest we treat too many of our ex service personnel poorly in the UK. Secondly never stop bringing your "ulsterism's" into the commentary, as a fellow "norn iron" man we do underestimate ourselves in speech. Finally and most importantly "keep her lit"
Crosswind landings during a stiff breeze are always fun to watch. And to fly too.

Aaah now that is a grand memory for sure. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us. P🍀

Oh wow! What an analogy. Thanks for sharing. P🍀
Tenapad sales will go through the roof after seeing this.
Love seeing that old livery on Caoimhe. The new Aer Lingus livery is sleek an modern, but has less of the charm.
I'm with you. I'm in the 1980-90s livery admirer crowd. The modern one isn't the same at all. Thanks for getting in touch. P🍀
1:20 Genuinely didn't know this, quite fascinating.
Jolly good. Thanks for writing in. P🍀
I love your narration, Pete! One of my favorite liveries is the last US Airways livery on the A330 200!
Jolly good and glad to hear that you like what you're finding on here. Stick around as much more to come. P🍀

Sweet Lord! The Shamrock landing? The older I get the more scary it all seems.
Keep calm and carry on flying. They're paid to worry about it, not you and your fellow travellers. Thanks for getting in touch. P🍀
Really enjoyed that and very informative. Thanks
Glad it was helpful! P🍀

I haven't but it's a good question. Of course its possible but thankfully seems to be rare. Thanks for writing in . P🍀
The engines on the Air Lingus 330 look small compared to the wing and the fuselage of the aircraft overall - any reason for this ?

Surely will sir. Thanks now for your support and be sure to stick about as much more to come....I hope. P🍀
Do ferries still run to and from DL
Dunno for sure but any ferry crossin' that stretch is bound to get a right old throwin' about in a gale/storm. Thanks for your communication. P🍀
Good training means good pilots equals safe landing. All together good cultures create good flights
Wise words indeed. Thanks for writing. P🍀
