Hi, thanks for the nice video. I only make documentaries outdoors, for working people (ethnic groups in remote countryside). I would like to ask a question please: I have a GH6 camera and its microphone is good. Again, I don't use the camera in my country, but only when traveling far. If you were me, would you use a small external mic or would you do without it? Thank you.
You should do more videos where your future self teaches you how to do stuff. Time travel is cool. Also this is a great format so I might borrow it for one of my future videos. Continue being awesome!🤘

My wife started narrating audiobooks several months ago so we've had to learn a lot about audio quality. The biggest takeaway for me was how crucial your environment is AND how important using an XLR mic. with a good interface is. We are fortunate enough to have a large walk in closet in a spare room that we were only using for storage so we turned that into a nice little sound booth. We piled a bunch of spare blankets and pillows on the high shelves that reached to the ceiling. For the walls I bought foam mattress toppers from Walmart as well as some foam cushion from the fabric aisle. Works like a charm! The great thing about treating a room or making a sound booth is how easy it is to DIY. Environment is everything!
I ve just bought it and seen your title 'said oh noooo! it was in the box ,started to think how to return then watched whole video .absolutely new type of tutorial I ve ever seen anyway liked it.

Preamps change the audio a bit. I used the micro on my xt2 and the audio was super nice. The audio wasnt as good when used on the g85

Don’t upgrade to the XT3, the preamps are much worse than the T2!
@@JeremyGalloway sadly I got rid of my xt2 and only use my xt20. Maybe the xh-2 or xt40 will be my next

This mic used to sound better on the X-T20, but on the next gen cameras it sounds awful! The X-T3 and T30 have inferior preamps :(

I tried everything in the book but I can not get good sound out of this without annoying static noise. A tiny 10$ lavelier mic sounds much better with no noise when I don’t talk.

The Rode VideoMicro does not suck, it does not work!!! I tried to use it on an iphone XS max, did not work at all
Mine sounds great on my EOS 60D but if i try to use it with my PC its a whole different story. The levels are low, i have put the boost at max +20 dB and it anyways sounds like i am speaking through a pillow. The Realtek 892 integrated sound chip basically offers no adjusting for mic input except boost. Do i have to get a dedicated soundcard to record to PC?

Now, could you help me with this part?: I just got the Rode VideoMicro for my Canon EOS M50, put it together per the instructions and many many tutorials on You Tube, and cannot get any sound out of it! Makes me feel like the beginning of your video! In fact, your title jived with how I was feeling at the moment about it too!! When I use the camera mic, I have audio, though, so what am I doing wrong???
Lynn P. Can you check the cable. Make sure it’s tightly plugged. Next go to the audio settings menu under the movie settings. Choose manual and raise the input volume. Report back
