Love your approach, DikkeHamster. In case anyone wants to take this even a step further with a threaded lid, you might want to check out this video (NOT MINE!) th-cam.com/video/Q6oNjV9a2KU/w-d-xo.html - I followed it for a real world 3Dprint a while ago and thought this might be a good addition for you all. Both printed or rendered... Printed - by the way - works like a charm. And as a bonus he shows a real interesting grip-texture as well, and a technique how to do it. Just bare with the automated voice if you can. That is distracting. At least to me it was.

This happened to me and i had no clue why I couldn't add a bevel, but it was just a simple error on my part for not putting a face.

  • @denieltonn

27:54 tip: search for "magic texture" or "noise texture" (or both together in the same materials, also works) it can give you a better texture for the material inside the recipient take a colorramp at the texture to have two colors in the texture and mix it with a dark smooth pink and a light smooth pink to get better results, keep the IOR glass at 1.450 to get more realism and change de emission of the cream to 0.1 to see the color through the glass
33:03 for this material you can create a noise texture and scale the effect to 50.00 to have a texture similar to a slightly stiff rubber
34:02 you can click in one face and then click in another face holding ctrl to select faces in the way
58:40 there is no need to use that amount of lighting, you will only destroy the realism of your render
also, if you want more realism in your render you MUST use denoising and ambient occlusion to give the feeling that things are touching the ground, accompanied by a sense of depth and good definition of shadows, configure the parameters in your Compositing tab in Blender
In general, it was a very great tutorial except for the lights and the leak of image reference in the description

    • @DerekElliott

it could be great to have the image brand reference that you're using to make the entire tutorial

Wonderful! Im thinking of doing something similar to this, but I have a question. If I want to make a clavin klien perfume for example, from where do I find a similar sheet of paper of the Tendourous so I could unwrap it on my product?

You could make one yourself with images of their logos

Hey! Followed up to the bring labels in. My png file appears black and I can’t see my file in the uv editor. Any advice to fix this issue?

    • @DerekElliott
      @DerekElliott  2 ปีที่แล้ว

You may have to select the image in the top of the uv. As for the black I'm not sure it could be that is not hooked up right. Could be many things

What an amazing tutorial! One of the best I've seen so far. The only thing I'd fix is the normals of the glass items. They are facing inside and that's why the glass doesn't work the way it's supposed to. Flipping the normals and bringing the roughness down to around 0.400 on the glass jars should do the trick;)

I appreciate the tutorial but really don't understand why you wouldn't do most of the modeling simply by starting with cylinders instead of constantly extruding a circle of verts. I find vert extrusions extremely unwieldy and cumbersome in blender and just making most of these starting with cylinders was way quicker and easier for me to keep up in real time. Otherwise, good tutorial.

Thank you for the comment. Certainly this would be another perfectly fine way to go about it but sometimes I like to just start with the verts

Watched 18 minutes to see how to create a box package, then Derek tells me I'm tired of watching 3D models so we're gonna skip the box.

Open a default blender scene, select the cube, s, z, 3. There is your box

I've recently discovered the duplication technique for making labels. I wasn't aware of the edge crease to clean up the corners:)

When I try to bevel the first round box made from a circle, bevel does not work. Is this a bug in 2.81a ? I had to create a cylinder and work from there.
