There’s nothing political about an American flag on an American vehicle. It’s something to be proud of 💪🏻
Not having ultrasonic parking sensors is pure cost cutting….
Humans can sense depth using vision. 2 eyes. The cyber truck has a lot more than 2 cameras to sense depth. A German lidar manufacturer canceled their lidar product as their tests showed cameras where more accurate. The ultrasonic sensors that where on earlier Teslas where not accurate enough. Radar on early Teslas also was not accurate enough and there where lots of problems like false positives and also extremely low resolution
Tesla's used to have them. They were removed at the same time that they did a bunch of cost cutting moves. Removing the turn signal stalk and gear selector is also a cost cutting move.

I’m by no means an EV fan, BUT I love the Cybertruck. Allow them to fix the sharp corners and other fitment issues. It’s so weird it’s cool.

I’m sure this was already said but in my opinion can’t be said enough. How can the American flag on an American made vehicle be political? If someone thinks it’s political maybe they need to look in the mirror and think about what kind of person they are/want to be.

I fully agree and I think TFL would too, but we can’t ignore that there is a sizable and highly visible contingent of people who drape themselves in the flag and the trappings of Americana while espousing plainly anti-American political values and calling for the overthrow of the constitution in a “2nd American revolution” and celebrate the recently failed attempt to seize power in our country through unlawful means. The American flag isn’t political, it represents America and our constitutional democratic republic. But it is prominently co-opted by overt fascists and that’s something we ignore at our own peril.
In this day in age everything is political, the fact of the matter is that's how people will interpret both flags and EVs - political. Unfortunately we live in a deeply divided country.

Net says windscreen is around $1,900. The windshield replacement cost for a Mercedes S580 sedan is also around $1,900. Rivians can run more.

I really like the wrap. What’s political about it, it’s the flag of the U.S.A. which should represent all American citizens. I think it shows pride in the country and for the fact the vehicle is majority U.S. built. I’m Canadian and see nothing wrong with that wrap.👍👍🇺🇸🇨🇦

If you are moving furniture that can be damaged, use a furniture blanket! A tough bed liner with a furniture blanket is much better than a soft bed lining that scratches up from furniture and gear.
It's a first year production truck. I still this Tesla is the standard for EVs. A vehicle with a flag is NOT political. Those that say it is, hates seeing the flag. It is the flag our the nation. It represents everyone, not one party.

You don't see folks going to other countries and making a name for themselves. I have a reservation for a Cybertruck, but overall I'm liking the Chevrolet Silverado EV more now. It has a longer range, faster charging, midgate for long cargo, and a more contemporary interior with some physical buttons.
you will regret not getting the CT. I have the CT and have driven the Silverado EV. It's nice, but it is no CT.

I'm glad you're reviewing the Cybertruck, but really wish you wouldn't give it a pass on poor workmanship and an interior that would be slammed in a vehicle by any other company. If it was me with those quality issues (loose pieces ripped rubber etc not alignment of panels) I would be just as ticked as if it was a Hellcat with the same issues. And no physical backup on safety items is just cringe.
What about Toyota and their Tundra engines blowing... People give it a pass for being a "first year" product.

I’m not an expert on Tesla, but how can they promise and charge for FSD for so many years and not deliver. I’m surprised they haven’t been sued for fraud. There’s probably a nuance in the contract I’m missing tho.

Roman the ultrasonics are definitely not why the cybertruck doesnt have fsd lmfao. The 3 and Y have had fsd and they haven't had ultrasonics for nearly 2 years. Don't make claims about things you clearly do not understand. The Cybertruck does not have FSD due to teslas AI needing some specific training for a vehicle of its size. They need time to gather data to train the ai. This is not some big secret, if you follow tesla at all this has been known for half a year at least.

Come on Roman, you're an immigrant to the US, a US made truck with a US themed wrap in the USofA is hardly political unless selling it out of country. I'd leave the wrap on for a year and see how it holds up, if well sell it as added value and if not remove it before sale.

I think Tesla was feeling a lot of pressure to release the Cybertruck. They had been promising it for so long and so many other companies were releasing conventional appearing trucks, I think they felt like they had to put out a product. I expect it will be years before I can afford an electric pickup. But when the used ones get cheap enough, I will probably get a Ford or Chevy or Dodge just because I want that conventional truck appearance. I just wish they had the software comparable to Tesla. If they are still around, maybe I would go for a Rivian. But I consider the Cybertruck a lifestyle vehicle, not a work truck.

Geez, that panel gap at 6:10! I’ve seen Kelmark GTs, Ladas and Yugos with better fit and finish.
You should add a section to the wrap saying "Official Tesla Review Vehicle" or something like it. That way people might not give you as much hate when you are driving it
All of the little issues will get fixed on a rolling basis, don't even need to wait for the next "model year". That's the beauty of Tesla, constant iterative improvements.
First off, the American flag is patriot, not political. It represents all Americans with all matter of viewpoints, all of which should be proud of their flag and country. Secondly, compared to the Chevrolet and Toyota trucks I have owned, that Cybertruck has a a lot of issues for a 5,000 mile truck. I have a truck with years of service that has had less issues than yours with months of service. Thirdly, you having paid for thousands of dollars of "options" and not having them and no idea when you will get them, is simply not acceptable. I honestly cannot believe that people are "buying" into these vaporware options with no idea as to if or when they might be made available.

My personal experience with EV and tires...It is the way you drive, I had a Model 3 that did not need new tires after 35K miles>. My model Y tires lasted 45K miles and I changed this before I should have, My 2nd set of Model Y tires have 15K miles on it and the Tesla mechanic said that it barely has any wear on it. I do not have jackrabbit starts and stops. When I see a light turn red in front of me, I coast down there and SLOWLY come to a stop. My Tesla Insurance rating is consistently 95-96. As Rooster said to Maverick...."It's not the plane, it's the pilot"
Every year that passes with our Model X I become less tolerant of its massive depreciation and compromises (falcon wing door reliability, chassis flex, yoke buttons sticking, and more). Having experienced this, I can’t help but wonder how long owners will stay in love with the CT with its unique compromises before their sentiment changes. I went from 100% in, to “I’ll wait and see” which is a massive turnaround for me.

CT is not for everyone. I love it. The R1T is awesome too. Cannot go wrong if you buy that one.
The bed is not plastic. It's SMC material. Both Honda and Toyota use the same material.
They talk like EV weight destroys tires. Like equivalent or heavier ICE vehicles are easy on tires? Is aggressive tire wear mentioned on F250 videos? RAM 2500?
Yes, those vehicles eat tires and need much heavier duty (stiffer riding) tires or they wear out VERY fast. The point it that a small EV vehicle wears out tires like a large commercial truck.
No FSD on the Cybertruck is likely due to the vehicle being so much larger than the Model 3 the FSD model was trained on. We've already seen FSD curbing wheels on even slightly larger vehicles (Y and X), I'm sure the model won't work properly on the Cybertruck. I don't think Tesla has anywhere near the amount of data to train FSD for Cybertruck, and won't for the foreseeable future unless they can modify the current model, but that can be really tricky with LLMs.
I think technicalities aside, it is a slap in the face to people that forked out cash for it. They should have either been honest about the timeline or simple refused the portion of payment until they could actually run the software reliably on the vehicles. There are many accounts where they ran shadow fsd programs on non paying customer cars to compare user input vs model actions to continue tuning, they should have done that with the truck too.

The flag should not be used for advertising purposes, or embroidered on items like cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins, or boxes.
Regarding the discussion about tire wear early in the video. Motor Trend did an off-road test of the Cybertruck and found that it did rather poorly in the mud. Too poorly - compared to other trucks with the same tires. They did some investigating and this is what they found:
"Parts of Pilot Rock Traill were still covered by a thin layer of sticky mud from overnight rain when we rolled up in the Cybertruck. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue for a 35-inch mud-terrain tire. However, as the tire treads quickly packed with slop, we began to suspect something was amiss with the Goodyear Wrangler Territory RT tires fit on the Cybertruck. Checking our support Chevy Silverado ZR2, which was fit with Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, we found the Tesla-spec tires have a similar tread pattern but 4/32 of an inch less tread depth. This equates not only to thousands of miles of lost wear but also to far less traction when it’s needed the most."
This might be something to look into. Your tires may not be worn; they may not have had much tread to begin with.
The tread is a different composition to accommodate for the wear. Harder, lower rolling resistance, equal (roughly) wear.
Another good video. Keep the truck!! I love the wrap. I had no idea the cybertruck weighed more than my Chevy Avalanche. As for tires, I own a 2022 Ford Mach-e. I just replaced two tires after 34,000 miles. Your car weighs almost a ton more than my Mach-e. I have a question - why would hail be an issue? I’ve seen hail a few times in my life and it never caused any damage. Also, does the Miata fit in the bed?
Even for a first model year, it's a bit excessive. The fit and finish is piss poor. Points for Tesla actually making it but they get a F- on execution.
I would like to have seen Tesla blunt the edges. But this is not a traditional body. Gaps are easily adjusted on this truck as the entire skin is bolt on. Which also makes repair easier in some cases. I expect this truck has a lot of maturing to do. But then so does the $2 million Lotus Evija.
I give them an A+ for actually making it.
I give them an A+ for a future case study that brings safety regulations to whatever class of vehicle it is in. I'm not jumping on the safety bandwagon, but the conspiracy theorist in me wants to say "is this being made like that on purpose for regulation we'll see a decade from now?"
And I give them a D for fit and finish, the panels are glued on, and the dash looks like a high school friends custom dash.
It's a neat toy. As a truck it's pretty terrible. The problem for Tesla is that they invested so much into it that it needs to sell in big numbers. I don't see how it can do that. It's not practical enough.
I mean this is big and has a "bed" so let's call this truck. But as a truck, this is a really bad one. Unless you belong to the poser market, then it's a great "truck" for you.

I found the CT tires have short tread blocks when new. We'll see how mine do. Have 2,000 miles so far, and they look new still. Not doing a lot of drag racing.

I'll say your CT does have more trim issues than mine has. I'm sure Tesla will repair. I waiting a few months and will have anything that develops repaired in one go.

I have no gripe with the flag/design of the wrap. My gripe is that you wrapped it in the first place. If I remember correctly you said you were going to keep it unwrapped so you could see how the finish aged over time.

Tesla is going to release a statement saying they are no longer enforcing the no resale clause. Why? Probably because the FS AWD trim can’t be resold for a profit after nearly 8-months on the market. That ship has already sailed.
I want to tfl and out of spec get together and do a video on driving a round America. Electric vehicle vacation road trip. Both companies can share and try different charging styles that will be shared knowledge with on the road editing.
Tfl can try out the evs that they haven't had much time with.

FYI Europe, Australia, Japan etc you've been able to buy FSD but you'll only get autopilot. It was promised in 2022 - Tesla shouldn't take the money without being able to deliver!!

The wrap does make it look better. However, can’t believe I wanted one but by the end of last year I had concluded it was maybe a great attempt at some new but a failure as a vehicle except some features that might go on with another better vehicle. Image how great it would have been in the something the size of 1990s size Tacoma with a real pickup look using.
The CT exists because it is a technology demonstrator. Tesla packed lots of 'new to Tesla' things into this truck. Some are well received others not so much. It was never designed to be a global high production vehicle. It is rather amazing that people are still buying Foundation Series. 8 months after first sales people are still making PROFITABLE TH-cam videos about it. If Tesla did as you suggested and made a more convention pickup people would have been done talking about it in a month or less. Just like the pickups you are suggesting.
The CT is also a halo car for Tesla. Seen a comment from a guy who visited a Tesla showroom to see the CT and bought a modes S. I suspect this is the reason Tesla is showing the CyberTruck in most countries with significant car sales.
