I've been wanting a nice kaftan for the summer time. I think these are chic and whimsical. So I thought it would be awesome to try to make one myself. Thus caused this video. This is a very beginner friendly sewing video. I only used a straight stitch the entire time.

This is the easiest directions I've seen for making a caftan. No bothersome tape measures, etc.!! Thanks.

I love that fabric!! It looks good on you. I like the bias idea on the neckine for sure. You can also sew a strip of elastic on the inside back or sides to cinch it at the waist more if thats a look you want. I like them more flowy.

It was 30 degrees cel. (85 degrees farenheit) It's been burning me up like CREAAZZYY. Like its just dry heat but not like LA. XC I just cant win.

Prettiest fabric choice I've ever seen!!!! Is there a way to order that fabric? I know u saod it was purchased in London... In the meantime I'll be on the hunt for something as epic in my own neck of the woods

I wanna make a bunch of these cuz I have thick thigh problems lmao, and is like to have fun prints etc, I wanna make em long enough I can just throw some leggings on underneath or even as long as a dress. I think it'll save me moneys in the long run by not needing to buy jeans ever 10 months.

@@WayOverBooked I would LOOOVVVEEE to be in 60 weather right now. Being in Denmark is so cold and its super windy so the wind chill knocks it down a few degrees~

Sounds like some pretty good jacket weather to me!
I really didn’t understand your last step that you did on the sides.
Thank you for commenting! So right before the last step, currently the piece of fabric is more like a pancho. So what you want to do is pin two spots around your waist/chest where you want it to be secured down to act more like a shirt. From those two markings make sure they're symmetrical on the left and right. Then just make a few stitches.
