Laura, I found this older video when looking for an easy caftan tutorial. As usual, your video is easy to follow, yet kicks it up a notch with your usual flare and professional touches! Thank you so much.
I have never been comfortable sewing clothing, but this tutorial is one I feel I could do! Thanks again for helping us to feel like we can be successful at these projects- you a wonderful teacher.

Excellent Laura! Thank you! I have two that were given to me as gifts over 10 years ago and are pretty worn out. They are so comfortable for around the house. I had thought about making some new ones for me but never got around to it. You showing that the sides would be longer once I put my arms down was something I had not realized so now I can see the adjustments I need to make.

I always enjoy your videos. I had a big piece of lightweight cotton that I tie dyed, decided to make a kaftan. I more or less followed your instructions with minor changes. What a fun project!

This is such a beautiful project for our Embrace double gauze! Your directions and the detail you provide are so thorough! Both of the women's versions are pretty but the bouquet floral print is especially gorgeous! And, the little whale print in the girls cooler is so cute! THANKS for a fabulous sewing tutorial!

Thank you so much for this kaftan DIY/pattern! I absolutely adore kaftans and make them to wear as fashion garments as well. I used Simplicity Sew Simple pattern A1395 ($.97 US). I adjusted the cutting measurements just as you described here so that the sides barely touched my elbows and in doing so, reduced the extra fabric hanging down at the sides. They are so comfortable to wear and I too like adding embellishments to jazz them up.

Wow, wish I had seen this earlier. I just ordered a beach cover up made like this with lace around the neck. I could have made it for less. Maybe I still will just to have a caftan for after shower-before bed time. Thanks for the great instructions.

Hey Laura! I love my cooler! Would love to post a picture but don't see that as an option. This is a great pattern. Very quick and easy. Plus the double gauze cotton is wonderful to wear! I used a purple and white floral like the blue and white one in your example. I'm going to make another with a different print. I have a bunch from morocco. They are like magic.
I wanted to leave a separate comment about this caftan: I am planning on making some with a thicker fabric for the winter for around the house.. I have some beautiful dark blue cotton embroidered batik, some soft ret corduroycordurory and fancy-dandy brocade..... The two that I own are nice thin silks and split up the sides to about 6 inches above my knees. I probably won't split these winter caftans. Thank you for the tutorial!

yes please print at 100% and the pattern overlaps:)...even if its off a little bit it will be OK:)
