There are tonnes of patterns that are being translated into English right now, and the plan is to translate all the backlog of their Russian pattern library and make it all available in English!

I’m excited to hear about the book.
I love the VikiSews patterns. I'm not an Amazon but I am on the taller side, 5'9". The patterns I started with didn't have video tutorials. I initially tried using Google Translate but it was a mess. So I just dug in and followed along with the pictures and I absolutely love the results. Any time I wasted trying to translate was made up in the time saved from not having to adjust for my height. I really encourage anyone with some sewing skills under their belt to give their patterns a try.
Oh that's great to know - I always appreciate not having to lengthen patterns I'm 5'8" & often find I need an extra inch or 2, especially in the arms. Thanks for your feedback 🤗
@@Frugalisama Sinclair patterns always include petite, regular and tall sizes too. Less adjusting for us tall ladies.

Fab vlog Sam! I picked up the Frankie wrap skirt and the Welcome code does work! So I got one of the Bella Wrap dress! Excellent x As to your plastic bobbins and other bits like that - do you have a local scrapstore that will take them? We’ve got one locally and it sells all sorts of bits that people pick up for schools etc for arts and crafts. 👍😁
Hi Lynne, glad it worked, the wrap dress is really lovey. Yes we have a little social enterprise very nearby called the recycle yard, she takes & sells all sorts & I love going. Unfortunately, she's put a hold on accepting donations at the moment but I do think that it's a bigger issue, that needs addressing at source, perhaps with a return scheme or an alternative product for the insides of the reels

@@Frugalisama that is great news im happy to know that now i can watch the episodes with peace of mind without worrying that the end is coming! I cant wait to start sewing for myself again. Would there be a possibility of a maternity friendly episode at some point hacks or patterns would be great? I am due to have my baby in September and my clothes are becoming quite tight. But i dont want to spend a ton on maternity wear for barely 3 months so ive been living in my partners clothes lol.

Ask-I’ve made the Friday Co Lucida Dress a couple times (very cute knit dress) and the Sagebrush Top (but I hacked it in to a dress) and also the Sunday V Neck (knit raglan). All great patterns.
Meant to say *also. Not ask 😆 … and, I should have added that the Sunday V Neck is a free pattern.
Ah yes, I'll take a look, someone has suggested that it the same stuff as power mesh, which makes sense! Friday pattern's have some lovely designs, I really like the Lucida & have had the Sunday raglan printed up & not sewn since they released it, thanks for reminding me 😊
Regarding sustainable sewing, I like to use scraps from cutting out Big 4 patterns or tissue paper from gifts to trace out other patterns. Usually smaller pieces but the see through nature of the paper makes it easy to trace. I also keep some of those scraps to help stabilize delicate fabrics or non-cooperative fabrics that my machine wants to eat up. It's easy to rip off afterwards or just use a pair of tweezers to pull out hints of paper stuck in the stiching.

Like the idea of not buying any fabric until I’ve seen up 30m from my stash. That is much more sustainable. I love buying fabric but I’m running out of storage space.
One thing that concerns me amongst the bloggers is the number of clothes they have to make just to create content. I have enough clothes and I only make things to replace something that has worn out( and even then I have difficulty getting rid of it).
Thanks Kate, yes it's a fine balance of having to produce things to talk about & having too much stuff. I guess no-one tells an artist that they've painted too many paintings & for some this hobby is an outlet for their creativity 😊

I made the maxi tea dress last summer in the largest size, in rayon, and I found the bodice was VERY short, but otherwise, the pattern fit very well. I ended up omitting the shirred part after trying it and recutting the front bodice to match the length of the back bodice because the shirring ended up sitting over my bust and it fits great without the shirring, and with a zip.
Thanks for sharing that Kait, it may be useful for someone reading this to know that - lucky you had enough to recut the bodice! 🤗

6ft Amazonian here🙋♀️ and yet have not tried Vikisews or any of the Russian patterns yet, fully intending to though but this one doesn't look very bra friendly. Hopefully that beautiful Gilet (Elza) and trouser (Lora) is high on the priority list for translation 👀 as my Russian lessons are moving very slow at the moment.
Hopefully they will, maybe try contacting Alisa @Sloths&Orchids, she may have the inside scoop on the translation schedule. I always appreciate pattens that have aleady been drafted for height, I often remember to add length to skirts & bodices & then forget for sleeves 🙄
@@Frugalisama Well I just had a look, the trouser pattern have been translated so I feel certain that the gilet will follow as they are photographed together. Woohoo!
