I've just been replacing bearings and races because I didn't know better. I had the left front explode inside the hub. Limped home a few miles to find the hub filled with bits of bearing and lots and lots of metal dust. Learned to pay attention to hubs and rebuild on schedule.
get the dimensions of the bearings then cross references from Timkin catalog on their site. Or get the part numbers and insist on Timkin when you order them. Ashcroft will be able to assist you no doubt.
I found getting the bearing changed more regularly or at least checking them to be very useful, previously one had been installed but not properly, eventually it failed, ceased, overheated and fused...end result - the half shaft ironically sheered in half. not good
Bar none the best technical videos on youtube for years now. Nobody lays it out better. Thanks.

You know I'd forgotten about the Timken wall charts .. I might have to see if I can get one!
I'm going to hopefully learn all this at Silverstone UTC! They have a whole part of the mechanical engineering course on bearings!
Great videos..
Do you know how can I find the product number for the timken bearings for a rear (Salisbury) diff for a 1997 110 defender?
Thank you
