Going for 400 whp on my d16 vitara build (y8, 75.5mm vitaras, eagle rods, precision turbo, goautoworks(manifold, downpipe, intercooler and piping) soon.. videos and dyno videos to come. Working on getting a shop dyno with a friend as well and maybe going with similar setup as hunter
@@BoostedNW I did vitara 75.5 p2p0 custom length rods. Stock cam bc springs and retainers. 5431 precision. Stage 5 4 puck competition clutch. E85. Drove 360 miles to pfi speed to have her tuned. My girl and I were in their video from last july.

I daily my Y8 shaved the dome off of A1 slugs with a grinder, flattop 11.5:1CR just to bump up the power band for highway cruising, stock p2p ecu, high flow vibrant cat and stuff, BPU, hand ported matched & dimpled head ports , got a rebuilt OBX lsd with 4.05 ring gear and accord 4th & 5th gear. 57MPG @55MPH. 165Hp on dynojet. Also timing on the Y8 is super confusing because its diff than other D16s check the manual and match the cam to the gear y8 cam to y8 gear ect. If i have a dollar for every time I heard or seen "my dizy is maxed out to the wall man I can't spin it any more!" I would be filthy rich with ones.

Always good to see a Y8 video! My car is a Y8 with a stock head, cam, gear, and dizzy. I have the base timing locked at 12 in the ECU, set to 12 on the crank pulley, and my distributor is right in the middle with plenty of room to adjust either way. Starting with a P28 map I just backed the idle timing from 16 to 12 on the map to match the base settings. Once the timing is unlocked on the ECU, it's running around 16-20 degrees anyway since I have it set to idle at 900 rpm. Even if I choose to lock base timing at 16, the dizzy still has plenty of adjustment, so the way it's maxed out in this video seems really odd.
I've pulled a bunch of timing everywhere else off the P28 map in an attempt to be conservative, but would be really curious where you ended up on timing @ 15psi for this setup as mine is almost the same.

My buddy’s d16 TD05 turbo with the factory gst intercooler made 320 whp on the Dyno I’m in the middle of wrapping mine up as well then Dyno you can see my unboxing videos on what I’ve bought an built so far
Just about to install by 75.5 Vitara D16Z6, shooting for 400!
High pressure oil pump? Upgraded valve springs? Forged rods with pistons? I just got a ek civic ex and definitely looking to boost it.
Did this just have an ebay turbo kit on a stock motor or did he have internal work done on this also?
I didn't hear all of the engine specs, but I dony know if I would expect the N/A version of the engine to make 130whp with the vitaras. It should be under 8:1 compression, so accounting for that, I think the 186 was damn good for 7lbs....
But for sure get a full 3" exhaust on there! That's what I have on mine with Vibrant components, and it sounds great! Intercooler also seems crazy small for an engine that should do 350-400whp with no issue!
I ordered a maxeedingrods turbo t3/to4e and it came with oil lines and the fittings and restrictor. Should I not run it and run -3 an line?
Bigger intercooler and cooler piping .. 3 inch exhaust , when ironed out that thing should hit 300 very very easily and could push 400 out fully ironed out idk why it's so low on power .. a completely stock d16y8 with head studs and that exact kit can make 220 to 250 and live a while it needs to be turned up for sure after fixing the issues
What turbo does it have? Is it on ethanol?
Do you need to gap the rings if your runing 5 psi boost , trying not to blow my engine lol because right now economy is bad :/
He should get a bigger intercooler and just do a down pipe simple hp gains.
Sounds like either a D15B7 distributor or a D16Z6 cam in a Y8 head with the Y8 cam gear

Dserious uses a cheap little ebay intercooler. And a full 3" exhaust. He makes good power.

His set up is way better then this same block but he uses a four piston head and better components

Did you set up at 12 degree base like a y calls for?
thats what it calls for using the factory computer. The timing marks on the factory pulley are 10,12,14 instead of the typical 14,16,18 that you normally see. The main goal is to just set ignition to match the computer, which i did via adjustable timing light setting computer to manually lock at 16 and setting my gun to 16 and shooting the light for top dead center on the engine.
@@HunterTuned y8 pulley is always 10,12,14. The z6 is always 14,16,18 that may be why the ignition was so quirky.
Im wondering tho. Isnt mid 200's quite low for a full vitara buid?
Seems overkill for that power, but leaves room for improvement. There are other limiting factors like injectors and fuel pump.

I was really wondering how will maxpeeding rods with vitara would do since it has 7.6 compression ratio and then you say it doesn't make power. Just throw more boost at it

The maxpeeding rods are standard lenght 137mm. The p0p2 rods are vitara spec, 138.6. That engine na would do 100 hp
Errrr.... Where is the knock sensor signal??? I'm adding the knock signal to my Speeduino so I can tune more accurately.
These things literally don’t show knock till the head gasket is already out of it. Have fun with speeduino I had no luck with that ecu tons of bugs

Alright I’m gathering parts to build a single jingle I have a z6 block and a y8 head I’m already planning an adjustable cam gear but do you know if I’ll have to advance or retard any on that gear to make her happy? Just trying to do a little homework thanks in advance

Why not? Its super cheap to boost a d series to make decent power verse a kswap or h2b swap. I own a 600hp evo and im near complete on my built d16 turbo. Some people just want to save the d series (me).
