6:27 I always joke that this is the longest song in the world. He starts it when he's like 10-12 years old, and is still singing it when he's an adult. LOL
LOL I'm surprised anyone would be shocked Zendaya can sing .. she's put out an album and has 10million followers on Spotify. Her song Replay has 200million listens. She's a Disney kid .. they can do everything.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching you experience this movie with your whole heart! You can't help but sing and cry while watching this extraordinary film! Great reaction!
28:12 Regarding what you said about Rebecca Ferguson not singing the song we'll here shortly...Loren Allred was hired to teach Rebecca Ferguson proper breathing so she could perform the song. After some tedious rehearsals, Rebecca suggested that they have Loren actually record the song and she (Rebecca) would just lip-sync it for the film. "Since I'm going to lip-sync for the film anyway, why don't you just have this angel sing it instead?"
I know exactly how you feel. When I saw it in the theaters, I was a total MESS. And each time I watch it at home, I can never get through it without crying at least 3 times hehe. The songs, the cinematography, the cast. All was exquisite.
I love the ending, when he sings and realizes that his family is "all he would ever want, and all he would ever need" and the journey of life its the greatest show
9:15 Yep. it won the following awards: 1. AARP Movies for Grownups Awards - Best Grownup Love Story 2. Billboard Music Awards - Top Soundtrack 3. Casting Society of America - Big Budget - Comedy 4. Teen Choice Awards - Choice Drama Movie Actor - Zac Efron 13. Teen Choice Awards - Choice Movie Ship - Zac Efron and Zendaya
This musical got me through 5 months of chemo, 30 sessions of radiotherapy, surgery and two years of adjunct treatments. I was fortunate enough to see Hugh Jackman in Auckland, when he came to New Zealand, with his An evening with Hugh Jackman show and his guest star was Keala Settle, and her song reached me on a whole new level as I had ugly scars and felt mutilated from my multiple surgeries. I still listen to the cd in my car a couple of times a week.
Hello Jonathan!😊 The musical score is actually better than the overall story here.🎵🎵 The guys that did the music for this kept coming back and adding more songs to the film. The ACTUAL real life story of The Greatest Showman is more interesting than what they showed here. Some things are correct, like meeting Queen Victoria after the popularity of General Tom Thumb. Barnum DID NOT have an affair with Jenny Lind in real life. Hugh Jackman IS very impressive. His popularity is 100% deserved!🏆 Actress Rebecca Ferguson doesn't sing the song "Never Enough" as seen on stage. Rebecca IS actually singing, her voice is just not as good as the professional singer. It is dubbed, and singer Loren Allred sings the song. I video can be found of her singing live on TH-cam. Yes, Zendaya does her own singing in this film. The film won a Golden Globe for "This is Me' and Best Soundtrack at The Grammy's. I have listened to the songs from this many, many, times on the 4K bluray.❤ Great emotional reactions to this this well made musical, Jonathan!!!! 🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
He didn’t have an affair with Jenny in this. Jenny is the one who kissed him the problem is he didn’t seem to make it clear as she fell for him that he’s married. He was in love with her voice
We custom created and applied on set several of “The Oddities,” (Hugh’s circus troupe’s) featured-performance center-ring wigs for this film. It was our studio’s first official industry job. This was wonderful to watch with you🥂.
I'm so glad I watched this when it just came out. Hadn't heard the songs yet, so the songs hit hard when I saw this movie. Wow! Love your reaction Johnathan. Seeing you so touched by the movie ❤ "STOP TEXTING ME!!" 😂😂
This film was released in an EXTREMELY difficult year of releases to be recognized by any major awards. That being said, the song from this film, This is me, won a Grammy and a Golden Globe it was also nominated for the Oscar.
Your reaction was so amazing! Thank you for showing vulnerability. From now on is also my favorite song from this movie. I felt your emotion in that part. So touching!
I *love* this movie. Musical films for you to maybe watch? Off the top of my head: 1. The 2007 version of Hairspray 2. Hamilton (it's on Disney Plus) 3. Tick Tick Boom (Another *great* movie with a great cast) 4. Sound of Music (Don't let the reputation fool you, it's a great and important story) 5. Sister Act (I have never met someone who hates Sister Act) Most of the musicals I grew up with were animated though.
35:50 Cool set design here for the song "Rewrite the Stars". When you look at the way the sawdust is laid out on the floor when they show it from above, you'll notice that makes a picture of the moon.
I would very much suggest Tick Tick Boom with Andrew Garfield in terms of other musicals! It's such an amazing movie about Jonathan Larson and his work. And lovely reaction to this! Greatest Showman is def the movie that sparked my wish to wanting to get back into dance, the choreography is intoxicating!
You missed it but after Barnum talks to the girls at night and he’s at his desk, he holds an apple on his desk to represent him as a kid that someone cared about him/the lady giving him the apple
I saw this in theaters with the whole fam. We were running late, so we ended up in the front row to one side, craning necks to see it. I don't remember anything but crying through most of it because I was seeing on screen how music hits me. When the horses pranced on in rhythm to the song, I actually yelled out loud. Combine that with This is Me and From Now On (Never Enough didn't impress me much), and it was my own personal fever dream. Love it!
"Grease" is a great musical! So is "Singin' in the Rain." The Danny Kaye comedy film, "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" (1947) has a few musical numbers in it. And last but not least, "White Christmas is another great musical. All of these would make great reaction videos!
I LOVE musicals! I’m not a singer, but I do love to sing. I cried when I first heard This is Me, simply because it spoke to me. I wasn’t in theatre because it was strictly only the same few people the last 4 years of high school. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone else cry to this film as much as I did. 😂 I would say this is my new fav musical (Grease is now second.) Musicals are my favorite movie genre, but I won’t actually tell anyone that because most people I know just don’t understand why unfortunately.
Interesting that the world famous opera singer is tge only lead actor not really singing. But ironically, Ferguson actually does her own singing in another film with Jackman called Reminiscence.
This is one of my favorite musicals. Thank you for the reaction! Here are 12 more favorites I'd love to see you react to (in alphabetical order): Beauty and the Beast (if you don't mind animated), Enchanted, Fame, Godspell, Grease, Hamilton, Mary Poppins, Moulin Rouge, My Fair Lady, Singin' in the Rain, The Sound of Music, and The Wizard of Oz.
I’ve been bingeing your reviews (I was sucked in by Krull, a favorite of mine!), and you are quickly becoming one of my favorite reactors. I hope people continue to watch, and you explore more musical and 80s fantasy films!
Love. This. Movie. The first time I heard about this film was in November of 2017. I was sitting in my local cinema, waiting for ‘Justice League’ to begin. The preview’s are running and the music for “This is Me” starts. I was mesmerized from then on. I spent the next two hours and change thinking not of Batman and Wonder Woman and Superman but of popcorn, peanuts and the center ring. I rushed home after the show and found my girlfriend sitting on the couch, her laptop open in front of her. Before she could barely utter a word I commandeered her computer and brought up the trailer for ‘The Greatest Showman’ up on TH-cam. She loved it as much as I did. For the next month it was all we could talk about. The day it opened we were nestled in our seats in that auditorium with no idea how we were about to be blown away. Afterwards, before we even made it to our car I had the soundtrack downloaded. Absolutely love, love, LOVE this movie and I’m so glad you did too, Jonathan!
This is my absolute favorite movie musical, and your reaction is so genuine. I am very excited that it is coming to the stage. I saw the film on opening night on my birthday, and I cried multiple times.
Fantastic movie. top 5 Hugh Jackman movies. top 3 musicals. top 10 lightly based on true events movies. one of ten movies that make me cry no matter how many times I watch it
I feel like Barnum was promising the life he was giving Charity to his father in law. It’s also interesting on how Charitys dad says she will come back from his poorness when it’s actually from having too much
You need to watch the 1986 TV movie "Barnum" starring Burt Lancaster. To me that's the best bio-pic about Barnum. You'll be amazed at it's style of storytelling, I can't think of any other film that does it like that and so well. I don't know how much is fictionalized, but it's capitvating regardless.
I bought this movie on digital but for no reason didn’t watch it until like 9 months later. And I first watched it on a flight and caught myself grooving and moving in my seat. This is me is so powerful had to dab my eyes slyly so the person sitting next to me didn’t see hahahah.
Never watched your reactions before until this past week, with Flash Gordon and Greatest Showman, two of my personal favorite movies in life. The Hawkman-Ajax battle may be one of my favorite movie scenes growing up for all time, even over Star Wars, and Greatest Showman feels like almost a flawless movie to me. My wife and I saw Greatest Showman together in the movie theater and bought the soundtrack digitally on the car ride home. I look forward to watching more reactions from you, but that was a perfect start for me!
There is a behind the scenes of Hugh Jackman singing from now on when he was going to have someone sing for him cause some sort of infection or whatever that the doctor told him no singing but he sang anyway
Your reaction was so good! Please do more musicals! I recommend La la land and Dear Evan Hansen if you haven’t seen them already, they’re also written by Pasek and Paul.
so the one singing never enough she was lip singing, the person didn’t wanna be up front on screen so she sang it behind scenes. her name is loren, she actually performed it live with her singing it on britain’s got talent. check it out!
in the movie, hugh's character said he wanted to make people react to the siblings being of stage. knowing that they would like people of color in the show.
Jonathan thank you for watching this with us. I love your heart and your insightful reactions. This movie has always been a special watch for me! As a poor kid who were into a poor gay😂, I feel like I could relate so much to parts of story and the music and visuals were perfection
Zendaya does this little move right at the end of the final number that is so hot I literally fell in love with her right there and then. Only takes a second and she’s never let me down since. What a fantastically talented performer.
Fact: Jenny Lynd & Barnum only had a business relationship. He never cheated on either one of his wives. Also, a good musical to watch is Tick Tick BOOM. Lin Manuel Miranda's directorial debut. Andrew Garfield is amazing in it. Glad I found ur channel 😊
The woman that sings this song in the theater is not the same woman who actually sang the song she was lip, singing it go on AGT, and you can find Lauren Conrad, who is actually the singer of the song
Just found your channel. Great reaction to an awesome musical. Can you react to The Bodyguard? Not a lot of people have and it has the best music in any movie ever
If you want a good cry, Gifted starring Chris Evans and McKenna Grace is on Disney+ and is possibly my favorite movie of all time. Watched it for the first time on a plane and cried so much the flight attendant asked if I was watching Marley and Me
It even ended with the classic Hollywood kiss, which was charming in and of itself. This is how you movies used to be made and Purley for enjoyment and entertainment. Nowadays, it's sll fighting, explosions, and agendas.
Nice to see the perspective of someone who really enjoyed this movie when I myself didn’t like it that much. The songs were 🔥 because Pasek and Paul don’t really miss, and I can watch it just for that. The singing is great, the acting is great, the dancing and choreography are great. The cinematography is pretty good, so are the costumes and sets. But the plot just isn’t there for me, and the characters aren’t written well enough for the story to be this thin. Even setting aside the apologist Barnum revisionism being bad (people do also complain about the Jenny Lind slander, but I’m not mad about that. She was horribly racist, so they can go ahead and lie about a real person being a home wrecker if they want) some dude who was objectively exploiting people running around pretending he’s helping them is not compelling to me at all, and if was over half of what was happening. All this to say, it was super interesting to see that other people seem to feel very differently about the characters being fleshed out enough to pull this off.
Fun Fact: Zac and Zendaya both did all of their trapeze skills and didn’t have any stunt actors
There's a great clip of Hugh and the musical cast pitching this movie to the studio in New York that's a must watch if you love the film
I agree wholeheartedly.
That's absolutely a MUST watch
There’s multiple. He performed a song, as did Keala.
he actually says during this video that he saw it already.
6:27 I always joke that this is the longest song in the world. He starts it when he's like 10-12 years old, and is still singing it when he's an adult. LOL
lmaoo
LOL I'm surprised anyone would be shocked Zendaya can sing .. she's put out an album and has 10million followers on Spotify. Her song Replay has 200million listens. She's a Disney kid .. they can do everything.
Word. Her dance breaks are legend.
23:39 The bartender here is the guy that choreographed this film.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching you experience this movie with your whole heart! You can't help but sing and cry while watching this extraordinary film! Great reaction!

47:52 "screw you movie" I felt the same way. 😂😂
I know exactly how you feel. When I saw it in the theaters, I was a total MESS. And each time I watch it at home, I can never get through it without crying at least 3 times hehe. The songs, the cinematography, the cast. All was exquisite.
Watching people who love musicals watch musicals makes my heart happy 😊
Maybe Matilda the Musical next?
that was such a cute and relatable reaction😂💕 im very happy youtube recommended this to me
I love the ending, when he sings and realizes that his family is "all he would ever want, and all he would ever need" and the journey of life its the greatest show
Pasek and Paul know how to layer a song. Their harmonies, percussion, reprises are stunning.

Wonderful musical, a rare thing to find in movies
A lot of people react to this, but it is nice to see someone who shows genuine empathy to the plights of movies like this.
The man who played the bartender choreographed the scene at the bar between Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron.
I loved your reaction so much. I cried with you. It's so amazing to see someone cry just like I cry😂😂
Can't wait to see you react to more movies☺️
Pasek and Paul are BRILLIANT songwriters.
We custom created and applied on set several of “The Oddities,” (Hugh’s circus troupe’s) featured-performance center-ring wigs for this film. It was our studio’s first official industry job. This was wonderful to watch with you🥂.

Can’t wait!!
Your reaction was so amazing! Thank you for showing vulnerability. From now on is also my favorite song from this movie. I felt your emotion in that part. So touching!
I think the bts were as good as the movie! They did a fantastic job making this movie. The soundtrack is MAGIC!!!

Your whole reaction was so cute and real. I love that you FELT every moment of it. ❤
❤❤❤ loved your honest emotional reaction! Had me tearing up right along with you, you got an INSTANT follow from me. Can’t wait to watch more! ❤❤❤
Thanks, Jonathan! 🎪 Michael Gracey directed this one. 🔸 I bet you had such stage presence in your musical theatre days.
You missed it but after Barnum talks to the girls at night and he’s at his desk, he holds an apple on his desk to represent him as a kid that someone cared about him/the lady giving him the apple

Barnum didn’t kiss Jenny. Jenny kissed him he didn’t kiss back. He asked “what was that?” “That was goodbye”. He went for a hug if seemed
I remember watching this in the movie theaters, that intro song.. I will never forget, it was epic
23:20 my fav song :D And home again has my favourite choreo, with that beautiful acapella near the end.
For some older charm, do Hello Dolly. Very good Musical!
My favorite musical, it is just breathtaking! The songs are one of a kind.
34:06 So emotional. I’m not crying 😢❤
Not me crying with some random dude on TH-cam over the emotions this movie unleashes. When the throat ache comes you know the cry is gonna be amazing
This is one of my favorite musicals. Thank you for the reaction! Not me crying with Johnathan to The Greatest Showman at 2am haha
Love this reaction!
I'm glad I found your channel!!
Fantastic movie. top 5 Hugh Jackman movies. top 3 musicals. top 10 lightly based on true events movies. one of ten movies that make me cry no matter how many times I watch it

Dude, I would love to see you watch Hugh Jackman again in the X-Men series. He's perfect for that role 👌.
I bought this movie on digital but for no reason didn’t watch it until like 9 months later. And I first watched it on a flight and caught myself grooving and moving in my seat. This is me is so powerful had to dab my eyes slyly so the person sitting next to me didn’t see hahahah.

There is a behind the scenes of Hugh Jackman singing from now on when he was going to have someone sing for him cause some sort of infection or whatever that the doctor told him no singing but he sang anyway
49:09 - Carlyle, is playing the role of Bailey; Barnum and Bailey’s Circus. His family wouldn’t release his name, which is dumb.
"Stop texting me!"... such a relatable exclamation during an emotional movie haha.
Your reaction was so good! Please do more musicals! I recommend La la land and Dear Evan Hansen if you haven’t seen them already, they’re also written by Pasek and Paul.

in the movie, hugh's character said he wanted to make people react to the siblings being of stage. knowing that they would like people of color in the show.
Some nice musical movies: The Producers, My Fair Lady, Singing in the Rain.
Jonathan thank you for watching this with us. I love your heart and your insightful reactions.
This movie has always been a special watch for me! As a poor kid who were into a poor gay😂, I feel like I could relate so much to parts of story and the music and visuals were perfection
😂😂😂 your great, love the emotion 😂🎉❤
I Love your reaction!!!
Great reaction. I love when Zendaya sings she has 2 songs from Euphoria that are really good too
Yes that is Zac Efron & Zendaya actually singing 'Rewrite The Stars'
I'd love for you to react to The Last Five Years. I've never seen a reaction to this film and it's a favourite of mine. I'm sure you'd love it!
They both did their own stuff in the scene as well, and rewrite the stars
Johnathan the show is one that has things to teach us so many lessons. But I have enjoyed watching the movie with you.
Great reaction. Try "Chicago". Won't make you cry, but will blow you away.
Disney recently announced The Greatest Showman the Musical is coming to Broadway. Let me know if you need a date :P
@Stephenraeburn3263 Yes please 🙏
I've been wanting this to be a Broadway musical forever 😊
The bartender is actually the one who choreography at the scene
Zendaya does this little move right at the end of the final number that is so hot I literally fell in love with her right there and then. Only takes a second and she’s never let me down since. What a fantastically talented performer.

Jonathan should watch “fried green tomatoes”
Okayyy but homie can sing tho! We see you👀👀
10/10 would watch you watch a musical again 🎉
I heard that they did use some of the original PT Barnum costumes. The Greatest Showman 2.
I just watch this movie everytime i feel sad.
It even ended with the classic Hollywood kiss, which was charming in and of itself. This is how you movies used to be made and Purley for enjoyment and entertainment. Nowadays, it's sll fighting, explosions, and agendas.
