John Boorman's own son played the child Mordred. He grew up to ride motorcycles around the world with Obi Wan Kenobi, Ewan Mcgregor. If you enjoyed the look and art direction of this movie you will also like another Boorman file, The Emerald Forest. This movie was more based on Le Morte d’Arthur.

The H-bomb testing technically does "help" Godzilla in terms of mutating his genes to create his regeneration ability and his atomic breath. But at the same time it completely incinerates his skin and gives it that dark charred look. His skin was originally meant to replicate the appearance of radiation burns from actual victims of the atomic bombs. So in a way Godzilla always has an aspect of pain, agony, and vengeance towards the human race. At least in more serious interpretations like this movie and the original from 1954.

Also, I just have to add, do you know how LITTLE 20 thousand dollars is for a heavyweight world champion contender, even in 1990? Buster Douglas, a 50-1 longshot who took on Tyson made 1.3 million while Tyson made 6 million. You have to understand that in 1990, you could buy a Brand new fully loaded mustang GT convertible for under 20k. So it seemed like a lot of money to people who weren't educated. But it was not a lot of money.

In the books which are no longer canon, Luke needs to learn how to build a new lightsaber and goes off searching for Jedi Temples and Jedi knowledge. I can't remember if it was Kenobi's force ghost who sends Luke off on his journey or not. About 5 years pass between the two films. Luke goes on a quest, Leia starts building up the rebellion again, Chewbacca and Lando go searching for Boba Fett (Bounty Hunter) to find out what he did with Solo. When they finally found him they set the plan in motion with Lando becoming a Palace Guard for Jabba the Hutt, Leia assumes the identity of a Bounty Hunter, and Luke works out a plan to sneak his Lightsaber into the fortress. The Solo movie sucks and doesn't even follow Han's origin or really Star Wars canon.

    1. After the five Sullivan brothers serving together died when their ship was sunk, immediate kin were not allowed to serve together. The result is that one brother died in the Pacific Theater, one at Omaha Beach, Matt Damon parachuted inland behind Omaha Beach, etc. 2. MANY women served in WW2. Female pilots flew warplanes across the Atlantic. For me, the women who served in the resistance forces, as spies, etc., had it worst being alone in enemy territory, not knowing who they could trust, but also knowing that capture would result in torture and execution. 3. Yes, KIA was “Killed In Action” - and it was a constant in my youth growing up during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. It still hits me viscerally when I see a KIA car.

I grew up having read the story of King Arthur and Excalibur. I was 23 y.o. when this movie came out and saw it multiple times. I was already a fan of John Boorman, thanks to Deliverance. This film introduced me to so many great actors and artists. In Holy Grail, and almost every Monty Python project, the vast majority of the memorable roles are played by Monty Python members. There were only 6 men that formed the group. In Holy Grail John Cleese played Tim the Enchanter, Lancelot, the Black Knight and many others. Terry Gilliam, the sole American in the group, is the man that does all of the animations, he also plays the wizard that quizzes the knights to cross the bridge, he's also King Arthur's horse and many others. Also Holy Grail was released 7 years before this film. It was influenced by the legend, not by this film.

This was a "sort of" reboot/remake of the original from 1954. If you never saw the original (not the Americanized version with Raymond Burr), but the original with subtitles, do it. It's like this one where he's a force of nature, and not a good guy smashing other monsters or aliens. It was the later films that got... silly. I love 'em all, but the original is SOOOOO different from all the sequels and reboots and reimaginings, except this one. Next to the original, this was the best Godzilla film, ever. And a good argument that this is even better...

You missed the mark on Noriko's neck...is it a happy ending? Many people do miss it because of the emotional impact of the scene, but it's quite important. Also, go back and change your captions to the 'English' and not 'English [CC]' version...the last line of the movie hits MUCH harder in the original translation vs. the Netflix translation 🙂 Don't feel bad about being teary-eyed at the end, this movie, good theater/cinema should have its audience feel something and this movie does so and does it VERY well!
