Hi Brian, yep that is some nice and thick blanket of snow, and I'm not even jealous 😅All new stuff to me, the Zubberdust! peaked my curiosity, I will keep an eye open for my next local stores record digging trip. Thanks for promoting French-Canadian music scene 🙂 Cheers
Your wardrobe is like a safe cracker in a heist movie. I didn’t know one of these artists Brian or that record label. The artwork is pretty amazing, AZSM sounds cool especially. ✌️
Really dug the variety Brian. I have heard A Silver Mt. Zion on Emerson College WERS 88.9 FM. I do like where they are going with the music. But like so many other newer bands whether they are rock, indie rock, alternative or whatever. I am always looking for that one thing that attracts me to the music. Seems like it was so much easier to find in the eighties, nineties and the seventies. Fly Pan Am is next on the checkout list. "Those who invent have never lived". Way to go B~ Rob/Boston
Fly Pan Am is "out there," in some respects, but they really connected with me. I find that there is so much music, it is almost impossible to keep up. I keep trying!!
Great video, love the snow at the beginning some very very cool looking records, that, "Stubborn Persistent Illusion" looks awesome, with artwork like that the music must be good, I am going to look for that one, thanks for sharing. Peace!
Snow ❄️ looks very scenic. Many of the album art were eye catching. That label does make some quality packaging. As far as what is on the records I don’t have a clue 😊. Happy listening Brian.
Hi Brian I’ve recently picked up a do make say think record and it’s probably my favourite discovery of 2024 … I knew you show them , I think you’ve mentioned them before … love them 👍
@ I stumbled upon them by accident I saw the jacket looked interesting, and it was priced at £5 .. I was able to spin it in the shop .. immediately I was hooked and I’ve been pricing up other albums by them since .. yet & yet is the album I found ..
As I was watching this, I brought up the Constellation Records website to check these out some more as you were talking about them. The VC has led me to actually listen to and purchase 'new' music again, which I haven't done in a long time. I did pick up some new 2024 releases (video to follow down the road), and this gives me an excellent starting point for 2025. Thanks, Brian! 😎🎶
@EmbryonicRobot Same here! I'm off to NYC this weekend to catch some live jazz in the Village and use a gift card for some record shopping. So it continues...!
Interesting record label. Very cool how they present the visual art to go along with the music. I played 8mm projector in my high school band. Wow, that discogs description is pretty intense - that's a lot for that record to live up to. Thanks for showing the records!
Greetings from New Zealand. Its summer here down under so we have been experiencing some nice weather lately. That Joyful Talk record sounds interesting, and the album cover artwork look very Art Deco in design to me. I like electronic music, especially the German group Kraftwerk. I'm 65 in age, and i have a large collection of different styles of music. Very good records there, and all in good condition. 👍 From Carl .
Hi Carl, Summer is still months away for us, so I am jealous of your nice weather. Kraftwerk is awesome. I am not sure when I first heard them, but I was captivated immediately!
Very interesting finds. I paused the video a couple of times to listen to Joyfultalk and Other Truths. I think both require more investigation on my part. The minimal approach in music is definitely intriguing. Using few notes as possible to create something big. Nice finds as always. Snow makes me cranky too 😡😡😡😡
Hey Brian! Once again, you show artists I have never heard of. I have never looked to see just how many albums I have duplicated on LP/CD. I would like to know, but I figure I am better off not knowing.....I'm sure the times are true on that album, they probably adjusted the intro or coda to round it off. Cheers!
My goal in 2025 is to always have a least one record you have never heard of in my recent finds videos. Ha ha. That really was not my goal, but now that I typed it out, it does seem like a good idea 👌
Hey Brian, some very cool additions here - probably more interesting than what's coming up in my next finds video 🤣 I remember you talking about Do Make Say Think before and I've got them on a list of bands to check out via streaming. Zubberdust sound cool and I see the record is quite affordable (always a bonus!). Only had a scattering of snow here in Lancaster UK, now it's just back to the fog and the rain as usual. 🌧☔🌫
Hi Brian- my goodness, what an absolutely fascinating and eclectic group of albums! I really must look more into Constellation’s offerings- I HAVE heard of Silver Mt Zion (but own none)… all of these albums seem to have really cryptic, ‘out-there’ adjectives to describe or review what they’re doing…definitely deep and introspective music for deep and introspective listeners! Fun!! 😎 Cheers-R
Enjoyed the vid Brian. I've always had a dream about living in a place where it snows, thinking it must be great, winter wonderland and all that, but I guess the reality is probably very different.
There are really beautiful winter scenes and if you like skiing, etc, winter can be really enjoyable. But, when the temperature heads down to -10 celsius and lower, it is awful. I cycled to work and back yesterday, and at those temperatures, it no longer feels cold; it's just painful 🥶 With temperatures around freezing, the kids enjoy making snowmen, which can be fun.
I have two or three CDs on the Constellation label (including Silver Mountain Zion or one of the similar names). I've had a quick look on Bandcamp and I'll go explore further (especially Fly Pan Am - not sure about that description of the band on Bandcamp!). Very distinctive arty sleeves. Happy new year Brian.
@@EmbryonicRobot I'm listening to the Fly Pan Am track 'Parkour' as I type this. It's unsettling but, at the same time, an enjoyable listen. They should definitely do more soundtrack work.
Interesting records! I've been picking up a bunch of envelope-pushing Canadian performers for my channel lately. I just listened to a V Vecker Ensemble Ep this morning. Not my usual faire but I did really enjoy side one. I change all my record sleeves - especially the cardboard innersleeves, which is like having no innersleeve at all. I will keep an eye out for some of these jewels to non-conformity.
I don't know the V. Vecker Ensemble, but I will have a listen to it! I am behind on changing sleeves. I try to, but it's a big job. I really hate the tight sleeves!
im with you dude. cant stand snow these days. its ok if i can stay inside and look at it. but minute i gotta go out in it - forget it. some interesting stuff ya dug up. oh i used to cut 16mm in film school. Thanks buddha for the invention of the Avid.
I used to process a lot of film back in the day, but now I really appreciate Photoshop. While I love analog records, I really dig digital photography. It makes no sense 🙂
Brian you’re supposed to bring lawn furniture in for the winter. You expect us to believe you were involved in snowball fights? Are you sure you don’t mean “snowball attacks “ by the local children on your walk home? Interesting art on these albums. Some of these descriptions of the music on the albums remind me of some of the descriptions on albums from Yardbirds back in the day. It’s eye rolling goodness lol. I’ll have to listen to some samples. Love all the snow at beginning. Nice buys.
I've been saying the same thing for 14 years! We don't have a shed or a garage, but I am planning to build one . Well, I am planning to hire someone to build one. My hands are far too delicate for manual labour. Snowball attacks! 🤣 I hope that is it for the snow, but we will see. I need to move closer to the equator.
I like the bird theme! Do Make Say Think? I’ll have a listen. Ahgh! Another one to add to the list! Man, I wish I could write descriptions of music like the ones you’re reading. All I can do is say, “It’s kind of like… It’s a bit like… It’s as if Roger Waters took a bubble bath with a Norwegian black metal bath while eating marmalade on Ritz crackers.”
Afro Kraut, well let’s just add another whole new genre Brian. It does have me intrigued. I love Grooves! I suppose the snow is the fault of Alaska lol. Very interesting label I have never heard of
It's about time the snow missed us and got Ontario. We've had snow here (at least 3 feet) since November and I haven't seen any bare ground since. Wow, you can never get enough Constellation! Nice finds, for sure. I've heard one of Joyfultalk's albums, but I don't remember which one. I'm not quite sure what the difference is between old and new minimalism either, but I seem to like music from both styles. That Do Make Say Think album is pretty great, but I don't think I've heard one from them that I haven't liked. Le Fly Pan Am is another favorite band from Constellation, though I haven't yet heard the tracks by the splinter group. Fly Pan Am started making new albums after a break and they have become even more interesting than before. I really love their album C'est Ca (with fancy French accent marks not shown here), and remember rating it as one of the best albums for the year it came out in ProgArchives. I'm not sure if that one ever came out on vinyl, but I think it did....either way, I need a physical copy of that excellent album. I just refer to A Silver Mt. Zion as just that or ASMZ and leave all of the other iterations off lol. Too confusing. But I do love their albums (having three of them on vinyl now). I don't have that "Punk Rock" one, but I have heard it and, yes, I need it. I have the first one you showed along with "Horses in the Sky" and "Born into Trouble (etc. etc.) I have heard that Hiss Tracts album and like it, of course. Like you said, it takes a few listens to really get it. As you know, I'm also a big fan of Constellation Records so I really loved this video!
I asked AI about New Minimalism and got a long answer. The AI bot even referenced Jay Cocker and that record I showed. I still don't get the difference., though. There is a vinyl version of C'est ça, but I do not have it. I really like Fly Pan Am's Frontera from 2021. I got that for a great deal a while back. Maybe this will be the year that I finish getting all of the CST records that I need. That sounds expensive though. I can dream!
I'm starting to wonder if I would know any artist on Constellation Records. I like the packaging with the Silver Mount Zion band or any of their aliases.
Constellation is quite niche, I think. Their biggest act is Godspeed You! Black Emperor, so if you don't know them, you will likely not know anyone else 🙂
It's absolutely freezing, and I'm thinking it's the 51st state's fault!🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶. The "Joyful Talk" album sounds interesting. The hype sticker sold me. The packaging is really nice, too. I don't know many of the artists on that label, but the presentation and quality of their releases looks amazing . Stay warm!
I always blame Alaska, but it is probably our fault. We will be lighting the fire place this weekend 🙂 I have never been disappointed with an album from Constellation Records!
Interesting video, Brian. I do not own any of these records! "New Minimalism" is simply the sound between the notes that John Cage plays. I want that Discogs reviewer to write my obituary. Thanks for keeping this genre alive!
Hi Mark, After I stopped recording, it occurred to me that I wish I had said that I want that guy to write my biography, but your answer is way better. I have a John Cage CD, and I think you might be right about that 🙂
Ha ha. It would be interesting to play some music and let AI write the hype sticker. That might be entertaining, but the human touch is probably better. Your radio show sounds like it will be a winner!
We got more snow today, and I am not celebrating at all!
Your wardrobe is like a safe cracker in a heist movie. I didn’t know one of these artists Brian or that record label. The artwork is pretty amazing, AZSM sounds cool especially. ✌️
The secret is that I ran out afterwards and cracked some safes. Hopefully, no one turns me into the police 🙃
Really dug the variety Brian. I have heard A Silver Mt. Zion on Emerson College WERS 88.9 FM. I do like where they are going with the music. Hi Mike, I'm happy that someone likes the snow! I am already looking forward to spring! Ha ha.
Now that’s proper snow ❄️
Never heard of any of these records Brian ! 😂 and that’s unusual for me
Proper snow is the right way to describe it. But, I am done with it now. As far as I am concerned, all of the snow should melt after New Year's Day!
@ yep snow ceases to be good after the age of 16
That This is our Punk Rock album was beautiful. An art piece 😊
Constellation takes their artwork seriously!
Snow ❄️ looks very scenic. Many of the album art were eye catching. That label does make some quality packaging. As far as what is on the records I don’t have a clue 😊. Happy listening Brian.
Hey Greg, I appreciate a label that puts dome effort into cover design. I fear you may not like most of this music, though!!
Hey Brian. Great video. Do Make Say Think, great band. Nice haul. Cheers
Thanks, Bobby! You are always in touch with Canadian music 👍🙂
@ I try! 😎👍
I only know one of those bands Brian. The artwork was stunning on just about every album you showed. Cheers Mike 👍
Yeah, this label really puts some effort in the album covers, which is awesome!
Hi Brian I’ve recently picked up a do make say think record and it’s probably my favourite discovery of 2024 … I knew you show them , I think you’ve mentioned them before … love them 👍
Hey Rob, That is awesome to hear. They are one of my favourites! I've always wondered how well known they are outside of Canada.
@ I stumbled upon them by accident I saw the jacket looked interesting, and it was priced at £5 .. I was able to spin it in the shop .. immediately I was hooked and I’ve been pricing up other albums by them since .. yet & yet is the album I found ..

@EmbryonicRobot Same here! I'm off to NYC this weekend to catch some live jazz in the Village and use a gift card for some record shopping. So it continues...!
Sounds like a great weekend!
great video thanks again for Queébec canadian content
More people should know about these bands! 🙂
Interesting record label. Very cool how they present the visual art to go along with the music. I played 8mm projector in my high school band. Wow, that discogs description is pretty intense - that's a lot for that record to live up to. Thanks for showing the records!
8mm projectionist! 🙂 That is indeed truly a lot to live up to and I am not sure if we will ever know that they managed to do it!
Greetings from New Zealand. Its summer here down under so we have been experiencing some nice weather lately. He does sound like a poet! He may have a bright future 🙂

Hi Richard, I feel that there are some artists on this label that you would like. The descriptions are sometimes excessive, IMHO!
Hey Brian. I do have a handful of Constellation releases now, including Fly Pan Am and Silver Mt. Zion, thanks to you mentioning their recent sale.
Hi Chris! Cool. That was a pretty good sale.
Enjoyed the vid Brian. I've always had a dream about living in a place where it snows, thinking it must be great, winter wonderland and all that, but I guess the reality is probably very different.

Fly Pan Am is certainly not for everybody. I have to be careful when I play it because I might be asked to leave the house!
@@EmbryonicRobot I'm listening to the Fly Pan Am track 'Parkour' as I type this. It's unsettling but, at the same time, an enjoyable listen. They should definitely do more soundtrack work.

Beautiful scenery...the snow, not you showing records.
That's a zinger! But, I agree 😀
Post Rock and New Minimalism seem to have terrible album titles.
Some of the titles are unwieldy for sure 🙂 I guess when you don't have any lyrics, that the title is all you have for words.
