After my Kindle got stolen I got myself a Poke2 and then proceeded to purchase a Nova3 color, I can honestly say that I am never going back to an e-reader without Google Play or Android
@@alliefabs7429 The Poke or the Nova? The Poke is a 6" e-reader, and although it has the same screen size than the Kindle it's more pocket friendly because the overall device is smaller. The Nova is a 7.8" color e-ink device with wacom (Boox is at the Tab Mini C right now) If color is important to you and screen size, go for the Nova C or the Tab Mini C, if you want a easy to carry e-reading device and you don't mind the lack of color the Poke5
Am I living on another planet? Why in almost 2023 is it so difficult to find a reliable brand name e ink reader sold in American that has the Libby app? This is insane.
We simply need more ereaders with google play, i mean why dont they use android go edition? It is light and will be best on an ereader as i want to download news apps and read that. I DONT LIKE books. I LIKE news.
The only thing I use Google Play for on my LikeBook Mars is to run different reading apps (I have many books over many platforms). I could strip the protection off the books but I rather not to.
Been using my Onyx Boox Nova 3 Color since March and I adore it. The color makes it easier for me to distinguish between covers of manga and the piles of novels I read each month. Sure the color is a bit old newsprinty but, it's better than trying to figure out what that many shades of grey blob of a cover is supposed to be. If it wasn't for Google Play access, even if it is a bit of a pain to get going, I probably couldn't use it for the majority of my reading. Looking forward to the day that color epaper displays are more common and color accurate as well as not costing a fortune.
@@skjonas to be fair I saw the complaints before I purchased and was ok with the tradeoffs. Not everyone will love it but, it depends on what you expect too. I knew I wasn't going to be watching video or getting perfect color representation. I also knew that it was a bit of a fuzzier looking screen compared to non color capable units but, I also hadn't handled an eink/epaper device in 10 years since my mom had a Kindle so that probably helped with my happiness level. I do know that my eyes have been a lot happier with me reading on the OBN3C than they were with a phone, tablet, or laptop screen and I didn't realize how bad I was straining my eyes until I got my OBN3C and used it a week. I do hope you find your dream e-reader someday.

Love my Likebook Muses, and my Onyx Boox Poke 3, each of which run Google Play. I can read books with Kindle, Scribd, Glose, Play Books, cloudLibrary (via my local public library) and more. The Poke 3 can fit in my back pocket. The Muses is also my go-to note-taking device. Despite this sweet situation, I have my eye on the Onyx Boox Note Air 2, as I've begun reading more PDF books lately, and could use a larger screen.
I have the 1st remarkable and found the device too big to be an always-with-me notepad. But I loved reading pdf’s on the device. It makes me wish there were more 10-inch devices that were focused on reading (and, therefore, cheaper).
@@skjonas Yes, the size consideration fights all-in-one consolidation concept. Plus, I'd be paying for all kinds of capabilities that I don't need, and would cause me to squander my dwindling hours in this life.
yes they are cheap. Back in 2013, large screen ereaders used to be 1400$ USD . That is over 10 years ago. Now you can get google play units from as low as 129$ and 13.3" from 700$ so yes, they ARE cheap and no, we are not high.

What are the biggest advantages to Android in your usage?

@@O1OO1O1 I actually take back my comment bc all I had to do what look for e ink tablets with Google play. Found it for about $400
@@mikemo949 yeah, buying a tablet with the play store is the solution.

I really wanted a Nova 3 color, but a couple reviews had me shy away from it and consider a Nova Air. Glad to hear that you’ve enjoyed it.

Yes, there are nine manufacturers that use Google Play now
We will probably try to do an updated video at some point
I would trade my Samsung Tab 6 & My kindle 9th gen for onyx ....in an instant
Onyx are you listening ...bring your devices to India
(3:53) What I did on my Note Air2 was to just restart the tablet.
Correct, if you do that a few times in a row sometimes it kicks and it starts to work.
could you make a list of devices supporting a browser to read online libraries?
do onyx readers do google play books in colour if available? and that page turn animation you get on the app? i just really like that lol
Yes indeed, Nova 3 color
wth is google doing when they discourage play on e-ink devices? It's 2022 we should have a hundred choices by now.
