6' is still the best form factor to read books. If I just want to read a book, I dont want a bulky 10' device in my hands for two hours. Even my 8' tablet feels big for long term usage.
Agreed. I bought Kobo 6" 300 ppi edition to read book anywhere as my convenient. It's light, fast and can be grabbed within one hand. This one is more sexy looking than Kobo.
Exactly! I still use an old 2014 Tolino just bc of the form factor. The Poke5 is looking like a really good upgrade.

Im glad the glow light goes from blue to yellow. The Kindle Basic went from dark yellow to yellow. Grrrrrr!
Can I configure this device to do a full screen refresh on every page turn?
Is there a method to make "shelves" for the Poke 5 using calibre?? Last boox device was a beast to work with via Calibre. That said this looks VERY tempting because of the sd card
Can you download apps for major newspapers and magazines on this e-reader? I want something to replace my kindle, and would like to be able to access NYT, Economist etc whilst also having access to my old kindle books. Is that all possible? Thank you!

How this model compare to kindle basic 11th?
I would be interested in a comparison of the lighting between Poke 3 and Poke 5 - in a (Thai?) YT video and also on photos in a forum, the lighting of the Poke 5 looks very bad compared to the Poke 3 (way too dark and yellow-greenish color).
I've been using and loving the Poke 3 as my main reader for 2 years - in the event that it broke, the Poke 5 would actually be the alternative for me. But bad lighting would be a deal breaker.
Is it carta 1200? How is the white compared to poke 3?
What is the difference between 5 and 5s?
Some quick questions:
1. Does it have a system wide dark mode? Or is dark mode available whilst reading.
2. How much storage is user available?
3. How strong is the magnet hold of the case? Can it support a Pop-it?
why would you need a dark mode for eink?
@@VincentW2 Reading in the dark is way better with dark mode. Kindle Oasis has it.
I like this but it's a smaller version of my boox 3 ultra without the big screen and speakers
Love idea adding card. I don’t care if they always say, this is all the memory you’ll need. Famous last words. I always prefer the option. But you have to watch the apps, some don’t store on external memory, especially if they have DRM.

i watched a couple of poke 5 unboxing videos, they said that their backlight is turned green a lot, it looks like a zombie color @@~ Does the same problem happen on your poke 5?
Yellow is a Zombie color to me. It hurts my eyes.

Can anyone confirm that you can play Spotify with this device? While reading? I understand it's only bluetooth, but I'm looking for a simple reader for a music-obsessed kid. Any knowledge would be appreciated.

Are the black colors slightly greyed or washed out compared to a monochrome screen? Unless I am misunderstanding and this is not a color screen.
Umm not sure, that being said Boox typically sticks a ‘C’ in the end of the name of everything with colour. So you may be able to use that as a reference when looking at what’s available and also to help make sure you buy the right variant.

Hello - How about battery life? My kindle goes for a month with airplane mode on.
Prob way less cause it's tablet at the end of the day, not "just" an e-reader

Yes and you can use kindle immersion audio which you can’t do on a actual kindle
Wouldn't the poke 4 lite still be nicer to look at considering it has a recessed screen and that these devices are only 6 inches so the higher dpi likely isn't noticeable,?

These guys have made the perfect device. If they put a sim card in it, microphone and speaker. Headphone jack. NFC. They have made an apple killer. The screen is perfect. With e-ink bro online newspapers read perfect. It's a really great device to kill the time waste video nonsense that is going on at the moment. Turn back to words. Get your keyword google delivered to your email box. I don't miss colour screens at all. The screen refresh settings are awesome. I feel something special will be coming up in later reiterations. You can customise this to your hearts content. And filter out all the clamouring noise that demands your attention when it wants. Onyx are doing good tech. I used to have a galaxy note series, but hell even these guys could put a pen in this if they wanted. It doesn't need a foldable screen because it's a great unit as is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But should you need to you CAN watch videos. This is the device the Greeks would have loved. Now I go back to reading some classics. Get away from the vast echo chambers of the internet. And back to the Narcissistic pursuit of knowledge !!!

Actually the DPI is 300 since the very first generation, so there's no updates on the screen at all. The only reason to upgrade from gen 2 I could think of is the case, old ones are total crap
The poke 4 lite is not 300 PPI, so yes, internationally it is an upgrade

Yes, this is a continuation of the poke series and a successor to the poke 4 lite
@@goodereader not fully sure, because all characteristics are identical to Poke 3 except of the number of cores, but maybe it's compensated by a more modern processor architecture. Anyway it's sad that they aren't developing this product line, the most direct Amazon Kindle competitor

Yes bro anything on google play is a go on this device. But I read the independent newspaper straight from the web with einkbro browser. Just set it up as you like and it reads fine. Great in fact. Such a calming way to get your news.
