Always love your reading vlogs. I have a video idea for you: books that made you think. Obviously, we want to books to stay with us after we finish them, and we can learn things even from fantasy. Some stories stay with us. But the video "theme" could books that really made you think/broadened your perspective, etc (take it how you will).
I was super excited to see you were finally reading my favorite book of all-time! The SOUTHERN Bookclub's Guide To Slaying Vampires. I am reading it again this month and can't wait for the reread. I'm glad you are enjoying it! I have been waiting forever to hear you talk about it.
i want to read more horror for sure! my favorite that i’ve read so far is mexican gothic. definitely more unsettling and horrifying in an atmospheric way, but i couldn’t put it down!!
I started listening to The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires today, because of you! I thought it would be too scary for me but you convinced me haha
OMG I'm currently reading The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires as well, the chapter with the rats is forever engraved in my brain, it was really disturbing. Apart from that, great book, really fun to read.
I haven't had time to watch your vlogs and I'm finally back!!! Matilda lookin' cute and now that I'm also a homeowner, I have a newfound interest/appreciation for your cooking segments haha! I've just reserved The Southern Bookclub's Guide to Slaying Vampires at my library hehe.
Grady Hendrix writes women's lives so well, the scary stuff didn't make me throw the book across the room but the sexism etc did. LOL! This was my time period for raising children so the book flew a few times. LOL! Instant pot NO 2 HR cooking.
I'm glad you enjoyed The Library of the Dead! It seems to be a bit hit and miss with people, but I just love Ropa and also the world. I feel like there's so much more to discover
Enjoyed watching this! I have been so curious about Between Two Fires. I was glad to hear your opinion of it. I think I really need to read it now! ....... Also I can never find your affiliate links for book purchases. I'm perplexed 🤷♀
I read “The Library of the Dead” this week. I thought it was just okay. The mystery was cool, but like you, the plot didn’t blow me away. I am going to continue on though to see Ropa’s growth…”The Hacienda” scared the crap out of me lol I just finished it last night. I LOVED it!!
Perfect vibes for this season! The Hacienda sounds great. I didnt like Southern Book Club Guide to Slaying Vanpires, I found the ending ridiculous and really hated the men 😅
I really enjoy Grady Hendrix - I have his "Final Girl Support Group" and just picked up his "My Best Friends Exorcism." I totally recommend all his books. Thank you for reviewing Between Two Fires, you totally sold me on it :)
The British cover of the Library of the Dead is SOOOOOOOO different. I didn't recognise the book for a second. The British cover gives me Rivers of London vibes (well the UK cover of RoL).
I've only read two of those - The Hacienda and The Southern Book Club. If you're digging horror, I listened to the audio of a really GORGEOUS YA horror recently. It's called The Honeys and it's stunning. The audio has like, the sound of bees and water and other stuff laid over, and other weird things.
I always click immediately on your video when the notification pops up, but I was so tired today and misread the title of your video as "I read 4 HORRIBLE books in a week and I'm scarred" lol.. I was like no, not Between Two Fires.. haha, duh. Love Japanese curry, am I the only one who thinks those cubes look like chocolate? I actually have the Vermont one you were using but haven't tried this brand yet, heard it's really good tho :) Love your cooking in these vlogs, you're such a little chef!
Loved The Southern Book Club. Now I’m going to read Between Two Fates. I want to recommend House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland if you haven’t read it. It’s definitely spooky.
So far in October I have read one scary book Dracula by bram stoker I did like the book 🦇🧛♂️🧛♀️ I will start reading bag of bones by Stephen king soon
I also started reading The Hacienda today, so I was excited to see your progress! I'm also loving it so far. By the way, I know you said that you wouldn't give Stephen King a shot because he's a horror author, but his style/level of horror is very comparable to the other books on this list. Salem's Lot is arguably less scary than TSBCGTSV. I also didn't think The Shining was that scary. So you might find something in this backlist that would appeal to you if you're getting more into horror! T. Kingfisher's book What Moves the Dead is also gruesome and I enjoyed it recently.
regan: time to have some soup and bread for lunch! nothing better than having a premade soup! me: eating premade soup and bread while watching this video 😳😳
Apologies if off-topic comment is unwelcome... I enjoy your meal-prep segments, and always wonder if all the scraps like onion & carrot tops and skins, etc get trashed or used? Saved for homemade stock (super easy, cost effective, yummy) or at least composted? You have such a great following you could be a great influencer on food non-waste as well as book recs! 😊
I love how seasonal your reading vlogs are

"Forgot to charge my mug" is something I never thought I'd hear 🤣

i read the southerns book club guide to slaying vampires yesterday and LOVED it. i could not put it down 5/5
'Spunky' really doesn't mean the same to a US audience as it does to a UK one...
😂😂 very true
What does it mean?
@@libraryofkitties5968 It is one of many British slang names for sperm.
True but I’m just grateful she said Edinburgh correctly 😀

I could totally relate when you mentioned "House of Dragons" as "Game of thrones ". I'm doing it ever since I've started to watch this show 😀 😄 😅

@@heiditheowl2277 Oooh right!! I don't know why I didn't make the connection haha I really wanna read that one!
I could watch a video of her just cooking

The true horror of The Southern Book Club book is the americana. Also the attic thing.
