I honestly cannot express how much I loved and enjoyed this vlog. It's currently 1am in india and it's pouring outside. Regan's vlogs are the definition of coziness and something any booklover would aspire to experience . You sold me on Age of Myth! I'm also struggling with The Wheel of Time series. The romance aspect in WOT doesn't appeal to me so I've had no motivation to pick it back up after a year. But anyway, I really want to check out Age of Myth now! :)
If Regan says a fantasy book has character development, themes of war, and is emotional at the same time, that means I have to buy it ASAP! Is it just me or does The Sword of Kaigen kind of sound like the Poppy War by R.F Kuang🤔
Ah see I liked the first book but couldn’t stand the second because of the depictions of all the technological improvements and how that was handled. Other than that (which probably only bugged me) it was a great book.
A quick puzzle tip: we always make our puzzle on a large piece of wood. So it is moveable. There are also ‘puzzle mats’ you can make your puzzle on top of them and just roll it up when it is in the way.
hearing you say a library book of your own is overdue made me feel so much better about mine...I always feel so bad when I renew my loans but sometimes real life happens.

I agree the Sword of Kaigen had amazing action and poignant moments, but there were things about it that bothered me and left a sour taste in my mouth. I realize they are nitpicking things, but the homophobia in the book did not sit well with me, especially because those wouldn't have been the views in premodern Japan. Obviously, the world is only *inspired* by premodern Japan, and is a fictional setting, so I am aware there are going to be significant differences. Well, maybe it was closer to the WWII era, so the views would have been a little more complicated, but it still didn't sit well with me. Also Takeru's character shift, while I am happy for it, the execution of it was...strange. I had a lot of hopes for the book, but it just didn't live up to it for me (and yes, I am aware I am nitpicking, but these things stuck out to me). I am always on the lookout for Japanese- inspired fantasy, and I didn't hate it, it just didn't live up to the hype. I wish it had. WoT is a journey lol. I loved it, but I agree the plot is very...winding, and at times it definitely does drag. Apologies for this long comment.
