Omg I read Strange the Dreamer on a whim from the library cuz Regan recommended and read the sequel a couple months ago and O.M.G. the whole world blown up, so many questions answered, such a BEAUTIFUL STORY. Highly recommend this duology and thank you Regan for the recommendation!! So glad you finally read the sequel! Also recommendation to repurpose the little jam jars: organization for paper clips & rubber bands, I put leftover coins from currencies collected from my travels
Spy x Family is such a nice manga, there is also an anime of you are interested or haven’t heard. 25/21 is such a great heart wrenching kdrama that I feel have a lot of points for discussion for talking. I hope you enjoy it too

My heart is happy that you finally got around to Muse of Nightmares! I absolutely love Strange the Dreamer but I have to objectively admit that book 2 was a much better book in terms of characters and plot, etc. I am desperately awaiting another Laini Taylor novel
I couldn't start Muse because Strange was so emotive, and I knew Muse would be incredibly emotional and I'm not ready for that... Spy x Family is fantastic - the books are basically spot on to the show, but I love watching it as well as reading it.

I love how much opinions differ on the same things. When you said MON was unputdownable from the start I straight up chuckled cause the first 150 pages of that book made me want to dnf like 6 times😂💀 I only finished it for one character and cause it was a duology.
I use the mini jam jars to hold my perfume samples, holds about 4 vials. This works well for me because I buy a lot of sampler sets. Also, I use them for condiments like ketchup or whatever when applicable. But I absolutely refuse to throw them away!
Girl I was trying to fly home to Rochester NY when all that horrifying weather happened. Arrived 5 days later than planned and spent two days in five different airports 🤦♀️ And I'm honestly so grateful for my experience after hearing many much worse horror stories about the impacts of that storm
LOVE Strange the Dreamer and Muse of Nightmares. HIGHLY highly recommend Laini's other series Daughter of Smoke and Bone. She is my favourite author, hands down.
IT FINALLY HAPPENED. Goodness gracious, Regan, I remember being in college and hearing you rave about Strange the Dreamer over and over and over again and you actually made me read it! I read the audiobook from the library back then and went on to buy the physical book and Muse of Nightmares and reread both and waited years--YEARS for you to read it! Legit, I would check in on your goodreads to see if you had, even though I fell off watching your videos for a while. I just had to know! And now!! Gosh, I'm so glad you liked it. It really reads, to me, as one long standalone book, since there isn't a gap in time really between the first and the second, and that's part of why it's so successful and flows so well. That said, a lot more is opened up in Muse of Nightmares, so it certainly could have gone sideways, but I agree that it is nearly faultless. Some spoilers from here! I've always wondered why the instalove in this series doesn't really take away from it for me, and I think it's because everything else is so good and interesting and dramatic, that Laslo and Sarai being so, well, boring for the most part, (as a couple, not individuals) works just for balance. It would be too much plot for them to have more of an arc than they do. But gosh, everything with Minya is soooo interesting in the sequel. Truly one of the most interesting 'villains' I've read, and the reveal with her superpower and then how it pans out is just GREAT. Doesn't feel cheesy at all. There are a few things that feel oddly easy or convenient in the story, but everything else being as well-crafted and well-written as it is keeps it as a 5/5 for me. Seriously, this is the book that I reread bits of (usually Laslo telling his 'myth' during the journey to weep in the first book) when I want to be more thoughtful about my writing style. It's possibly the most gorgeous writing I've ever read without it bleeding into purple prose. I'm really thankful that you recc'd this book so continuously way back then, because I loved it and the writing continues to be useful to me. Gosh, maybe it's time for another reread!!

I LOVED Twenty-Five Twenty-One, it made me unbelievably happy and then it wrecked me. Enjoy. Also, I think I slightly preferred Strange the Dreamer to Muse of Nightmares but Daughter of Smoke and Bone couldn't keep my attention despite the interesting world Lani Taylor presented. I think Strange the Dreamer will probably remain my favorite of her books, followed closely by Muse of Nightmares. I haven't started the Spy x Family manga yet, but I love the anime, especially the second half of season 1 with the continuing family vibes as the missions play out and the second half opening theme is such a banger I bought it on various platforms.
I have a backlog of manga on my shelves I need to read (most of it BL, of course). I hope to read some of them this month. Manga has been such a part of my life for so long. I've heard about Spy Family, but haven't read or watched it. Also, getting one's life together...I feel that.
