Hope everyone is having a lovely month! Sorry for the gap in uploads, becoming a Dad has meant making sure I focus on family a lot more! Trying to learn balance, and we will get there!
Congratulations on becoming a Daddy lol, I became a grandmother again in Dec. I was wondering if you could do some video's about setups when you're not gaming. I use twitch as a learning tool. I stream blender, friends and others come in and help me learn my way around it. It's easier then just watching video's or reading websites as they can see what I'm doing in real time and give help in real time. I already know my computer is not top of the line. It's similar to an i5 with 32 gigs of ram and an nvidia 650 (really old lol) graphics card, which only has 1 gig of vram. I can't even use the latest OBS cause of my card, I have to use the 27.2.4 cause of something that was changed in the newer versions of OBS.
Father of a 2&4 year old girls. It is a balancing act for sure. Most of my streams are confined to nap times or in the evening. With how self reflective you are with your work, I'm sure you'll knock parenting out of the park!
I quit streaming for 6 months because every time I streamed I was dropping over 60% of my frames. Thanks to you it’s fixed and I plan on starting back streaming soon. Thank you so much for making this video!
I just wanted to say thank you for your content Eljay. I have been subscribed for a couple years, but never really applied the lessons. At the beginning of this year I decided to apply myself. I have begun making youtube shorts and long form and it really helped to make my streams have purpose when I go live even if there are no viewers. I also added follower goals on screen using your guide and I have had followers each time I've gone live when I had none for a couple months even if i had a few people watching at a time. 🍻
This guy is the goat, i hate when people show what settings to use but dont explain exactly what they do or why thats their preference. becuz it makes it so i cant make an educated decision myself.
This video explaining what all this crap means is so key. Being able to fix things yourself on the fly if you're having issues while live is ESSENTIAL. Thanks so much!
I’m a new streamer, I went out and spent a boat load on my set up, I have Omen 16 64gb I9 12900hx 4tb ssd and I was still getting blurry streams. This video helped a ton
This video helped so much. I appreciate it a lot since I have a low end PC that absolutely REQUIRES these settings to be changed if I want to stream, espeically on my TH-cam chanel, so thank you SO MUCH.
I know you posted this 4 months ago, but I want to thank you! I didn't know you can test your stream without actually going live, it's a life saver, thanks to these settings and finding what's right for my streams, it looks pretty good, even my camera isn't lagging, which is great because while it's in obs and on twitch, you can see that my voice is faster than my camera, idk why, maybe that's a different issue, but it seems to be better! So thank you, I appreciate this so much
Love your streaming educational videos! You explain this stuff thoroughly yet simple enough for a newcomer to understand what things are and why they do what they do! I plan on getting into CC in the future and your videos are my go-to for learning about all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into producing smoother results. Thank you for doing what you do and hope more people visit your page!
Very nice video, especially the server thingy, the dynamic bitrate and the test stream, i did not know about these Thank you for making these videos it helps a lot
Somewhere through this video you fixed my issue. Tested a live stream and it all went smoothly no skips, frame drops. Hopefully it goes good with the boys.
4:26 , this blew my mind, I thought the base canvase was whatever my monitor was for my game, I have been using 1440p this entire time.. gonna change this for tomorrows stream hope this removes the pixelation that occurs randomly. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much. I just bought a beefy PC so I could stop using my laptop and I was still running into issues. I think this video will be a great help.
Very indepth and informative. Been having issues with my vods looking very pixelated and i have a powerful streaming pc (4070/i7 13 gen) so i hope i can get my stream looking crispy! Thanks for the tips man!
Thank you for that bit about turning off dynamic bitrate! That might be why my OBS would occasionally just tank to 0 bitrate and freeze up. I always thought it was the game I was playing or something like that.
Hey thanks for the video. My biggest issue was, that i used a bunch of overlays like animated camera frames that i run directly on my pc, surprisingly all the overlays were the biggest issue, Whenever i turned all overlays off my CPU usage went from 30% down to like only 3% which fixed all my issues.
I am putting this out here in hopes it helps someone. I randomly updated my gpu drivers and all of a sudden I could stream to youtube but not twitch. I kept getting dropped network frames. I went int obs settings> advanced>enable network optimization and it fixed everything. No Idea how this happened but this was my fix thank you for the video!
Awesome video bro, you break it down so well... I actually understood everything you had discussed by the end of each topic. this was a game changer. Sub'n for sure
For anyone who needs this? the noise cancelation filter on OBS might cause some lag for the stream so set it from RNNoise to Speex to better the stream so it isnt as chippy
Hey buddy! This video was a big help. I do have a question though as I'm a little confused. If my download and upload speeds are both over 900 mbps and I have a Nvidia 3060 graphics card, I should be having my video bitrate at 12000 kbps? If I'm wrong, please correct me! I'm a newish streamer and I keep experience some lag in the streams and choppy gameplay when I clip.
@@StreamScheme gotcha! I think I need to play with some settings, because things keep looking like a little choppy even though I have the hardware and everything to stream at 1080p 60fps
I was just hearing about twitch vod from streamers because they were playing music that would normally get Copied and you mentioned it doesn’t stop you from copyright stuff.. now I need to know more
I know someone with like 350 followers who always uses copyright music for the past 3 years. I’m so scared 😨 I use own3rd pro music. I’m surprised they haven’t gotten in trouble.
This helped me fix my gameplay footage! You are a lifesaver! I have been binge watching your content and I am learning so much! Thank you for making amazing, entertaining, and concise content! I just had a quick question--I know you've gone over webcam settings, but I was wondering what the best OBS settings for A DSLR camera are? I'm shooting on my Sony A7SIII at XAVC S HD, 60fps, and I still experience some lag between my audio and video (most notable when I'm editing my recorded streams later). How do I fix this?
My audio comes in faster than my camera, its pretty normal due to video requiring more encoding. I set my mic to its own solo track for recording, and then delay the track by 130ms and that syncs it back up. You could lower the camera resolution to 720p and it might help, or potentially try a different capture card if yours is offbrand. Loads of options.
@@StreamScheme Thank you so much! I'll try delaying my XLR mic in the advanced audio properties in OBS by 130 ms and play around with it until it syncs back up! I'm using the Elgato HD60 S right now, but I'm looking into investing in the Bridge Cast X! The idea of controlling all of my audio inputs in one piece of gear seems like a dream (I'm using a behringer mixer right now and It's been a nightmare to navigate)! As well as having my camera and capture card also feeding in through a single piece of gear instead of 3+ peices of equipment. Are there any major notable differences in capture card quality between the two?
After seeing the comments I got hype thinking this would fix my issue but I guess not. My speed test says I have 15 upload and I followed all of your suggestions and adjustments, but by the time I’ve streamed for 7-8 minutes it says over 75% of my frames are dropping, with a huge delay as well
could you explain why separate vod track doesn't protect from copyright. everywhere i'm looking it says it does. am i missing something? Great video btw :)
Because you're still using copyright material, its still being tracked that you used it live. The people who are telling you it does protect you are just ignorant of copyright, and think that "getting away with it" is the same as being protected. People thought they were protected from DMCA on Twitch, until hundreds got banned over night, and every few months more bans go out even with VoD track split. Its really hard to clear up the misinformation.
Hello mister i have a question my pc is ryzen 5 3600 and my gpu is gtx 1660 super what best setting for my obs and can i have a smaller size of the output file ?? Btw iam sorry if my english is so bad
Thanks for the video! For future occasions: The image at 6:04 is wrong. 6000 bits is not 6 megabit. its 6 kilobit. i guess you meant to say that 6000 kps is 6 mbps.
Best fucking video!! Saved me so much time after hours researching and watching other videos. Explains everything well simple enough for you to figure it out. Absolutely recommend.
I used the bandwidth test setting so i didn't go live, I even had the notification pop up on obs saying "this isn't going to go live if you want to go live unselect the setting" and one of my followers still got notified and joined ;-;
I’ve tried for so long to fix it. I honestly might give up on streaming, no matter what I do I can’t put my bitrate any higher than 3k. If I do my stream lags so hard, even on 3k it’s at like 15fps. Idk what to do atp
Could you PLEASE make a video of how to set up TriggerFyre in OBS then?!? I only went to SLOBS so I could have TF rewards available as they wouldnt come up in OBS!
This might be unrelated but i want to ask, why when i go live does twitch sometimes only notify followers as late as 30 mins into my stream that im now live? is this anything to do with OBS or is it a twitch thing? I always get people saying they weren't notified when they say that they have notifs enabled! super thanks for all your vids 🔥
It means you’re not consistent enough, likely they don’t know if you’ll stay live, how long, when, etc We found if you always go live the same days at the same time, and do a minimum of 3 hours, twitch sends notifications out, otherwise it gets spotty. Twitch doesn’t send go lives out unless they know you’re staying live. The other reason is people haven’t been staying and enjoying the stream so it stops recommending the stream to them unless they turn on notifications.
my stream is dropping major frames after working fine for months, its too the point where i cant stream, im testing the settings to see if anything work but im startin to think its twitch’s fault
Hey i was wondering if i could use a laptop to setup my stream setup. I stream on xbox but im currently using my phone to try setup alerts and stuff but it just doesnt work.
Damn, dropping the res from 1080p to 720p worked. I thought it was a resource utilisation priority issue but guess not. My laptop really doesn't have the resources to stream 1080p while gaming at 60+fps huh
if you got a new am5 cpu, 8% on stream labs is a lot even when running the same setting just on obs i get 0.9% CPU encoder on both, just wanted to see how unoptimized tbh
my quality is fine with dynamic bitrate enabled, never had it drop my frames. im wondering if its just your build that does that compared to others. cause it works fine for me.
On a dual pc setup would we copy these verbatim? Meaning, leave encoder “for me” cause I play on AMD GPU but stream with strix 2070 oc in stream pc. I’m assuming just match the systems so to speak, I’m only casting over display capture from game pc “thru capture card” to stream pc.
Twitch could just follow TH-cam and accept a higher bitrate on their end. Btw one tip: you might have problems with your microphone sounding „muffled” (from time to time). It took me a long time to figure out that it’s caused by RNNoise, so if you have the same problem, that might be a fix.
I WAS LOSING MY MIND MY MICROPHONE sounds good but in obs it kept sounding like 💩 i was getting frustrated took off all my filters but rnnoise. And it still sounds bad every now and then.. speex sounds bad though. What should i do?
Love your videos bro but, I did everything you said and I now get an message saying “your GPU is not currently supported by twitch enhanced brodcasting” and it has never don’t that before, can anyone help?
@ I know lol, that’s how I fixed it. It wasn’t turned on lol I had to turn it on then off again to fix it just forgot to update my message, I appreciate the reply though 🩷
So I have a webcam that is 1080p 30fps. Should I stream at 720p 60fps or 720p 30fps? If I have enough bandwidth, should I bump up to 1080p 60fps or 1080p 30fps? I just want the best option right now until I can upgrade my webcam.
What I’m trying to figure out is the delay that happens when I’m streaming. Like someone joins and says high but it’s so delayed they don’t hear me for till 30seconds later
ok so not sure if im reading it wrong but it says my upload speed is about 100mbps but was confused because that seems like ALOT compared to other people so what should my bitrate be?
Hope everyone is having a lovely month! Sorry for the gap in uploads, becoming a Dad has meant making sure I focus on family a lot more! Trying to learn balance, and we will get there!

Wait, 6k is a soft cap, and I can go higher? I have around 900 on upload. So I can go higher?
Yep, as I say in the video 6000 is soft, 8000 is hard, but you need wiggle room so don't set 8000.
Love your videos bro but, I did everything you said and I now get an message saying “your GPU is not currently supported by twitch enhanced brodcasting” and it has never don’t that before, can anyone help?
I never said to turn on Enhanced Broadcasting :) That wasn't a thing when this video was made. Turn that off, and done.
If I have a amd Radeon rx7700 xt should I use the hardware video encoder?
ok so not sure if im reading it wrong but it says my upload speed is about 100mbps but was confused because that seems like ALOT compared to other people so what should my bitrate be?
