    **PLEASE READ**
    I made a few mistakes or wasn't clear in this video, so I want to clarify and clear up some things!
    1. You can stream 1080p 60fps and use a bitrate lower than 6000, but you will have lower quality than other 1080p60fps streams.
    2. You can stream with a higher bitrate than Twitch's soft cap 6000, going up to 8000 as the hard cap but I didn't want to confuse people by explaining the tiny quality difference between 6000 and 8000. I still recommend for your own internet speeds to do 6000 if you are only wanting to do 1080p60, plus it gives room for your bitrate to fluctuate up above 6000 but not hit the hard cap.
    3. I jumbled my words and called 6000 bitrate the equivalent to 6megabytes, I meant to say megabits but I think most people understood this. I also wasn't clear about Twitch quality options, I called them "encoding options" but the actual process is called Transcoding, but the information works the same!
    The timecodes are below and if this video helped let me know in the comments! If you want to join our growing community check out our other content: bit.ly/JoinTheStreamScheme

      So i tried to stream dying light 2 using my 3060ti, my game was running at about 55fps, my render lag during the stream was over 30% and my fps was 30fps'ish and very unwatchable. The stream i was at 1080/60, i had it at 6k bitrate and even went up to 12k and didnt help. I also tried cpu as encoder and render lag didnt go down but fps wen up about 20% to about 40ish.

    Watching this as a VTuber and this really helps to see my options because there is almost always a chance that a single game, on top of whatever tracking software I use and the streaming software, is gonna tank the stream, so I've been trying to find the balance and be sure of what I can do to fix it. I've hit a bit of a run around though by just messing with my tracking software or the game, so knowing there are stream options that can possibly alleviate this is wonderful to know about. Thank You so much!

    I've been trying to figure out for weeks why my stream is so laggy. I kept trying to stream 1080p60fps. My pc could handle it. Had good internet. Still laggy all the time in stream.
    Of all the things Id read or watched, none talked about twitch forcing me down to 720p and causing lag when trying to stream 1080 as a new streamer. Dropped to 720p30 and 720p60 and no lag. Its all good. Thank you brother. That fixed my issue, and the rest of the video gave some great tips for setting up to get it even better. Much love, may the gods bless you.

    • @Magswap
      @Magswap 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StreamScheme I haven't gone through changes yet I will later after work but yes I do use streamlabs and if thats that's option that says "dynamically change bitrate when dropping frames while streaming" then yes I do have that unchecked. To gives context I have a 3900x and 5700xt I use medium and I currently use 1080p by 60 fps at 6,000 for bitrate. Again I still have to watch your video. So I won't ask anymore questions until I do but thanks for the response!

    • @Magswap
      @Magswap 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@StreamScheme okay I actually got time to watch and it seems like I have the right setup. Is there anything that I'm missing that would help the clarity? I don't have any issues lagging, should I use a higher bitrate like 8,000? I do want to note that I like 1080p just because I like to use the stream footage for youtube so I don't want to use 720p (if that makes sense). Thanks in advance! Could also be a great video idea if you haven't done it already.
      Edit: Just heard you said Twitch caps it at 6,000 so nevermind for that. Also I'm running about 11 up and 91 down speeds

    • @Magswap
      @Magswap 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@StreamScheme should I use the "optimized encoder settings" or uncheck that before streaming? Does this just negate all of my changes to the stream and set them automatically?

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Technically if you want to get techy, 8000 is the hard cap but 6000 is the soft cap and all you need to get good quality 1080p.
      Plus with your upload speed it’s better to add some headroom, so 6000 is fine :)
      And no I believe that just adds a few caps and checks in place, I don’t believe it batters too much at your settings.

    I was having big time stream relay issues with the video getting uber choppy early on. I configured A LOT of settings and watched a ton of videos on what settings are optimal based on your internet speed and the resolution of your video output. I haven't had many issues since, been pretty darn good actually. I decreased my scaled video output resolution, but kept my native resolution at 1080p. I also started using CBR for streaming (not recording).........that made a HUGE difference!

      yeah thats a fix too, less load on the GPU to resize the stream, so changing resoloution eg to 1080 than stream 1080 is better for the gpu rather than 1440 > 1080, that can depend on the types of games your playing too, eg battle royal games will need all resources compared to a basic single player or low gfx games like fall guys

    I was having issues with laggy stream outputs, but my game was running fine. Specifically, this was in games like Hunt Showdown and Elden Ring. These are the steps I took to fix the issues.
    1) Ensure that your monitor refresh rate was at the level of which your game's frames could be run. In my case, my monitors are all 144hz, and I can run Hunt Showdown at 144 fps.
    Streamlabs however caps at 120 fps.
    2) Because streamlabs caps at 120 fps, set your monitor refresh rate to 120 hz.
    3) Set your game max frame rate to your refresh rate. (You can also use V-Sync)
    4) Done. No more laggy outputs, and I can stream at 1440p @ 120 FPS.
    TLDR: Don't play games at a higher rate than 120 fps or have your monitor higher than 120hz. Idk how people are able to ignore these and STILL have good quality streams, but this is the solution
    Obviously this isn't 100% guaranteed to fix all your problems; as an electrical engineer myself there will always be scenarios that aren't resolved by this: but it will help. A lot of these guides will go on about bitrate and down / up speeds of your internet, but if you're like me with a solid PC build and quality network and STILL having frame issues even when you're not streaming, the above steps should help you. I've tested this method with so many games that stutter and lag in the streamlabs output simply because my game and monitor rate was too high for streamlabs to capture.
    Hope this helps you!

    Loved the video as usual Eljay. Quick question have you done a video or even a section within a video about playing a new game on stream? I am streaming Terraria atm but want to start playing stardew valley in a few weeks so was just wondering the best way to go about that?

    I have this problem when I stream: My game is running very smooth, but if i have fps above my HZ so 144, the stream starts lagging, my game isn't, only the stream. I then need to cap my game to 144fps to stop the stream from lagging. Does anyone have some what of an idea, on how to fix? I have a GTX 1660S and a I7-10700k.

    Bro I was gonna say about the 6MB thing XD I fully researched it a couple weeks prior to this video and I'd been doing it the way you said FOR SO LONG, like I set my bitrate to 2200 etc, thinking I can't go any higher because I only have 2.5MB Upload, turns out I can go much higher and my streams are looking clearer than ever, I'm just giving this video another once over because for some reason I'm getting dropped frames constantly when I know I shouldn't be. It could be due to lag in game, but I'm still not too sure, thanks for the help and great video ElJay :)

  • @BenJXT_
    @BenJXT_ ปีที่แล้ว

    I had this issue and it simply came down to putting OBS or stream labs into administrator mode which a lot of people talking about this issue never mention. You do have to make sure you run it all the time though by going to properties > compatibility > run this program as administrator.

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This no longer effects anything interestingly, it was important over a year ago, but updates made admin mode not help performance at all.
      Unless, you had programs actively working against the tool, but that seems unlikely.

    • @BenJXT_
      @BenJXT_ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StreamScheme yes I believe OBS was competing with the game for for CPU performance so using admin mode allows my stream to work perfectly whilst also having good game performance

    I started collecting OBS warning notifs on my stream, telling me I was losing frames, lagging, or my stream had gone down. I think the number got pretty high. xD Hopefully I won't be having that problem anymore.
    Also, side note, when considering FPS and quality it's good to think about viewers that might experience motion sickness. Personally, since getting a higher res monitor I can't watch streamers on high quality anymore without getting sick. Maybe not as big a deal as some other things, but something to consider.

    so I have had a similar situation most of my 3D games have a bit rate issue. I also found out some have not been given updates like Crash N.Sane trilogy which I'm currently streaming I had to reduce the window size. After some talks with some friends that the producers never did an update for the game once it became multiplatform.
