52 y/o metal head. I love how wholesome it has become. We’re all just people man!
I'm 54 n I hear you lol. OMG I can remember everything being said that us Metal Heads were all a bunch of Devil Worshipers, drug addicts, crime riddled low life's, stupid and lazy sleaze balls. I just used to look at ppl n go really that's what you think about us? Hear listen to this n tell me where you hear any of that. LOL
We were kinda wholesome. The imagery was mean, but were good friends.
In MTV‘s defense, that’s how I discovered Anthrax. Antisocial on the Headbangers Ball!
me too bro
interestingly enough, Anti-social isn't even an original song. It is a cover from the french band Trust.
They had lots of vids on the HBB! Indians, I'm the Man, Antisocial, Got the Time, Madhouse...
I guess he means they didn't get on the all day shows, Top 20 Countdown, Like Bon Jovi, Motley crue Home Sweet Home level
Headbangers Ball was an awesome Show. The only Reason, why I watched MTV
"Indians" was a song played on there a lot as well. Awesome song, but not allowed to say that word in 2024 lmao! 🤣
Long live thrash metal!
hell yeah, brother
Amen 🙏🏽 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
“My leads are archaic, for sure.” I don’t think KKing understands what archaic means. And Anthrax were all over MTV’s Headbanger’s ball. It’s how I first heard Anthrax. Saw all their videos there.
I remember it the same way. Plus when they did the song with public enemy it was all over MTV when I was a kid. I loved headbangers ball.
Did he mean chaotic, perhaps?
I think he means archaic in a primitive, caveman sort of way.
anarchic
Lol, you caught that too! I was like "well yeah...but I don't think that's what you meant."
Anthrax was always on MTV in the 80’s, that’s the only way I knew about them and I knew those songs well because of it.
Gary Holt seems like an awesome guy to sit and talk to…. Id like to have a few beers with him someday
I went and saw Anthrax with Exodus back in 2014. Gary Holt was standing out front, on the sidewalk, smoking a cigarette.
@@FortessofShred not surprised….. he seems like an everyday metalhead….
He’s a leftist asshole
Yeah he seems super cool and he stepped into an impossible role to fill in Slayer, yet he done it with all the class and respect Jeff deserved. In fact Gary Holt is probably my second favorite guitar player in Slayer Jeff then Gary lol . I’ve never bought KK’s edge lord hot topic everything anyone who knows nothing about metal is the whole vibe KK has chosen to show the world. I preferred the Raiders Jerseys to the spikes and chains because that’s what Thrash was about “run what you brung” stepping out of the crowd onto the stage.
not gonna happen, he's been sober for quite some time new, maybe some pork ribs will do
6 months after picking up your first guitar you join exodus lol that's wild
What I took away from that video is I need to become a guitar tech for Exodus
...and Kirk Hamet showed him it's first chord and now he's way better than him!
Man I hope I look as good as some of these guys when I become 40-50 years old.
Tom, Dave and Kerry are in their late 50's or early 60's.
All of these guys are well past 50 😅
@@thickenstein yeah, I still I hope I look this good when I’m in my 40s
@@JoeStanek-vu7rlMan, I turn 52 this year & I was in (11/12 y.o.) middle school already when Slayer were touring for their first nationally released album when THEY were like 18-21 y.o.
...and you think they are just still in their 40's/ early 50's? I'm sure they appreciate your kind miscalculation, though! 🤘🎸😅💭thx!👍 but, ....NO. They've hit their 60's by now. Think about it, the band formed over 40 years ago. They weren't in diapers still, writing & screaming aggressive, evil lyrics & playing distorted electric guitars on the devil's scale, they were grown.

If jesus was metal fan slayer they would never had a song ike antichrist😅😅😅😅😅😅👹
It's crazy how many people think metal people are bad.
Stereotypes are everywhere. "Metal people" are a very loving, caring, and fierce family. All are welcome.
Look at the comment section under any Metallica video where the fans of less popular metal bands are bitterly trashing them for being more successful. Metal fans are the most petty bitter music fans there are.
@@captainjefferies9047 Bound to be some assholes in every group. My 30 years on the scene, disagree with you.
I challenge anyone to go to a metal show and watch the pit and how yes, people hit each other, but if someone falls down, others help 'em up and make sure they're okay.
Fictionpedia
0:25 I guess they’re just referring to Tom’s scream at the start of AOD referring to Megele’s victims
IT's about the wailing whammy bars
No it's specifically about Jeff and Kerry's solos with exorbitant use if whammy and harmonics.
It's because you make a guitar "scream" by playing a harmonic on the highest tuned strings and using the whammy bar (bending it forward and backward) to make it go higher and lower in pitch, which can imitate a human screaming. Early rock and metal guitar solos made use of this technique, of which predate Slayer as a band. Evidence of this is when King himself looks quizzically, and responds by saying "My leads are archaic, for sure."
Slayer stood out early on for a lot of things, and wild atonal solos were one of them. Aping Maiden or Priest wasn’t going to work for their music.
Tom screams on other songs too, though - and the others aren't about Mengele lol
that story of Mustaine pouring beer in Rob's guitar is in VH1 Behind the Music: Megadeth... From Rob!
Yeah? Looks like ole mustine is full of a four letter word after all!!
@@user-lh9eg1mk9n yeah no joke. Back when it came out, my bandmates and I were obsessed with Megadeth. One of them tried to pull that shit on my bass after we watched it.
@@aleksandarcastaneda3282 - Interesting. I'll have to check it out. I give credit to Daves talent as a guitarist and lyric writer as I do own a couple of Megadeth's albums, but due to his drug addicted nature he can be such an asshole!!!!

White noise was on MTV ad nauseum.
People tend to forget that they were on stage with one of the most prominent rap groups of all time doing “Bring the noise” Public Enemy
I've been in a nuthouse five times (hell, just got out of one), and I can attest that yes, crazy people are fans of Anthrax. We didn't play any Anthrax when I was at this last one, but we did have Roku and we played a lot of metal. One guy played Slayer, and I played some Type O. Most of the folks liked terrible new rap music, so that's mostly what got played, unfortunately. Wish I'd thought to play Madhouse.
Jason is such a nice guy.
Gary Holt is hilarious. "You're not a technician at anything" His complete boredom at the thought of playing Wild Horses was funny too.
The mustaine story comes from mcgovney himself
Yip. He says it on 'Megadeth: Behind the Music'.
Yeah, I remember it from behind the music but wasnt sure who said it. If it was Ron, he might have embellished it a bit tbh...because the guitar really wont blow you across the room if you get it wet.
Yup, I've heard tell the story himself numerous times. Doesn't mean he isn't exaggerating.
I'd probably be freaking out too on whether I have cancer from Chernobyl!!
Didn't Anthrax call that tour the "Fuck the fallout tour"?

Bring the Noise got quite a bit of air time on MTV, probably more to do with Public Enemy than Anthrax though.

The first thing was a comparison, if anything it was a compliment. In the subject matter itself the said "victims" were screaming and the guitars mimicked those screams, unintentionally. KK is a smart one!

Imagine if Mtv had been fair to rock and metal. It would have been beautiful.
To he fair, 80's MTV was pretty much all rock. Especially the glam scene. Then '91 happened and grunge became the new exciting thing.
The mid 90's MTV did habe rock/metal programs, but this was also when rap/r&b really blew up.
This is also the period where MTV introduced stuff like The Real World and Road Rules. Some of, if not the first "reality tv" shows. They were such a hit that MTV never looked back.
Today, MTV is essentially the 24 hour Ridiculousness/Catfish channel. It's trash.
Ironically, on satellite, MTV has multiple channels. The main one is trash but the other channel DOES play rock/metal videos from the 80's and 90's. But you have to pay extra to get the channel.
MTV knows what people want. But for some reason, they refuse to give them that.
@@ZackMorris1015 but after that it became all pop and hip hop.
@@Platinumpuppy not sure if you read my entire post.
@@ZackMorris1015 it’s early so it may not be processing without coffee. There was a point MTV declared rock dead. They did short programs saying it was dead. Well, they tried to murder it.
@@Platinumpuppy understandable.
Yeah I mean it's ironic. In the 80's it was MTV to a large extent that shined a hige spotlight on the rock scene. But then around '91 when grunge happened, TV AND radio execs saw it as a new exciting thing and made it seem as if rock wasn't relevant anymore.
It wasn't that rock/metal died in the 90s, because both genre's had MASSIVE followings. It was simply a matter of the executives in charge of tv and radio trying their hardest to hide and downplay their music while promoting something else as the new thing.
ABSOLUFUKINLUTLY THRASH METAL RULES!!!!🤘💀🤘💀🤘💀🤘💀

What's Frank Bello bellyaching on MTV (non) airplay of Anthrax footage and saying MTV never played their videos for? That band had SO MANY videos on rhe air that I got burned out on that band & got more & more sick of watching or even of listening to them. There was a big, long, chunky period in which you couldn't put on the channel without Anthrax on the tv screen. They even jumped on the metal/rap fusion with the Public Enemy blended w metal for "Bring The Noise". & If not THAT., the outcry for the Indians by Joey Beladonna got way overplayed so much that Iwill never again see an Indian Chief Head Dress on ANYONE without seeing the singers face inside of it, prancing around on the stage following the Scott Ian chant "WAR DANCE!", let alone the countless other videos that were made AFTER that voideo over the years until they stopped airing music videos altogether. If it hadn't been for MTV's excessive Anthrax airplay, myself & millions of other music fans would barely ever heard of the band...if at all. Admit it Bello, your band faded bc you goiys never wrote, played, or contributed to the world any more good, worthy of top level recognition music after while. It just stopped working for you guys all around because you ran out of new, appealing music to keep us interested.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
