I always thought jeff was the most bad ass dude in Slayer and the one I have the most in common with as far as personality goes and the fact that his birthday is one day after mine is pretty epic. I get home sit down and scrolled through facebook and came across something to the effect of "this is not a hoax legendary guitarist of Slayer Jeff Hanneman as passed away at age 49" I went into shock for a second, my girlfriend at the time asked me what was wrong as I ran up stairs to check my laptop because I didn't believe the phone. Man that's a day I'll never forget. R.I.P Jeff Hanneman.
Man, when I stop and take pause and think what SLAYER has meant to me over the decades... the emotional tumult is unmatched by any other band. I thank God for Jeff’s contribution to my life and this world. I remember where I was when I found out about his passing and the only thing I have to compare it to, is when I learned about Dimebag! No one will ever do for me what Jeff’s songwriting has done!!! RIP Man, you’ve earned it.
This is my memory of Jeff. I was in the mosh pit when i was 14 years old and going hay-wire. got punched in the head but continued moshing until it all broke up. the last thing I remember at that point was Jeff Hanneman's angry playing. Those eyes woulda almost killed me if he faced my direction.
