      @@bydesignmethodI'm not so confident and suggest that V2.5 could be the last before subscritions are introduced with a shiny new V3 subscription, and naturally there wil be very attractive loyalty discounts for existing licence holders that switch over.
      Sadly (and with my apology for the scepticism), it's all a by product of corporate economic strategies that have to keep the revenue flowing in to satisfy the shareholders. Most photo editors had pretty much all they needed with PS6 until Adobe convinced everyone they all needed to become designers and publishers as well and CS1 was born...

      It's not "evil," it's business; it's the free market, not greed. As much as I HATE that this is happening, this is called freedom. You are free to start your own design software company, hire a team of developers, testers, and marketers, build a great product, sell (not RENT) it at a bargain price, AND refuse the massive cash offer to buy you out ... if and when that day arrives. I would give it a %80+ chance that canva will move affinity to a subscription base at the next major version release. Here's what I suspect is going to happen: we'll get another few updates to the v2 products, but within 18-24 months v3 will be out with a partial subscription offer. Now I think you'll still be able to buy v3, but it'll probably be offered to Canva subscribers as a bolt-on. After that I reckon it will go full subscription only. For those of us who have already purchased Affinity, I cannot see how they can legal start charging a subscription. We bought on the terms of it being an outright purchase. • @bydesignmethod
      @bydesignmethod  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Cheryl,
      Affinity will not start charging for the current version you have. They will provide updates (for free) until they do another big release. For reference V1 was out for many years (more than 7) before they released V2.
      People are worried (and with good reason) they will start charging a subscription upon the release of V3 (which could be 2-5 years from now)
      V1 still works fine, so hopefully when they do release V3 (if it ever happens) V2 will still work fine..but no one knows at this point what is going to happen.

    If you have a subscription in either will that be merging into one account and no price change per app or if there's no changes at this time what of the future and when you get affinity photo and disinger from Microsoft Store will they mention this as well or if you have downloaded them? Canva who owns it, thought is was Adobe to in same small way. Or own by a media company like Apple? Canva is a powerful tool why buy other tool for hobbiesest to educational uses and perhaps self employed. Affinity to has some limitations with all three products it maybe brining all three into one app like Corels apps and Microsoft Office 360. Canva Affinity 360 has all the features of all and but a single subscription it could be everyone who already uses them need not to submit to a new account only need a product numbers to use either? Usually what happens if a big company buys a smaller one is, they rip off whatever is useful in the portfolio of the company they bought and use it in their own ecosystem and the rest is silently discarded sooner than later. And the fairytale press release that everything stays the same and both companies benefit from the sale is usually proven to be a lie within 6 month after the deal.
