Dodge RAM Trucks - Seat Belt Chime Disable - 2009 to 2018

- This video shows how you can quickly and easily disable the seat belt chime on your Dodge RAM or RAM Truck from 2009 to 2018. This information used to be printed in the owners manual and they have still allowed this method to work on these trucks. The warning light will still be on the dash but it will at least repeatedly beep as you drive from one part of an offroad jobsite to another.

I figured it out. If you need to enable the chimes just go back in your truck and do the exact same process that you did to disable the truck.

@@jessemurray1072 I know I had a hard time doing it but what I was doing wrong was that I wasn’t pulling that key out right after the 3 times of buckling and rebuckling

Thanks for another upload. I’ve got a 2017 Rebel and I’ll try it later. Also, you always ask about suggestions on what to get for the truck. You mentioned exhaust cut outs at one point, I’d really like to see that. I know you don’t like anything loud for your daily driver, so that has to be the best of both worlds. And not to costly from what I’ve researched, maybe 800$ with pro install.

You can turn off the honking with key less auto ignition in your settings in the rams infotanment.

Couldn't get this to work on my 2018 1500 express. tried 3 -4 - 8 clicks, so I followed the cord from the bottom of the seatbelt to the first connector. I unplugged it, it gave me a service airbag message, then told me auto park was disabled. No seatbelt chiming now and I can also drive in reverse or forward with the door open now which is nice backing up to a trailer in the dark and not having to keep closing the door every time to back up or pull up an inch.
This worked for me... i just got the tazer ram for my truck and thats one of the many features that it cant do... thank god for u both...

Hey Pat. I think unfortunately we are stuck going to the dealer with this one. Depending if you have a fob or the actual plastic key you insert in the dash I heard this is a way to program the plastic key if you have 2 and are adding a 3rd or something like that but I've never had to do it

Did it stay off though? Mine resets and turns back on once truck is cranked up

I have a 2018 Ram 1500 that I'm gonna have to try this on. I'm on 40 Acres of property and I drive around on it every day and this stupid seatbelt warning sound drives me Crazy !! When they made this feature did they really think any of their customers would like this lol ? Like 1 warning sound would have been sufficient enough for people to realize oh i forgot to buckle my seatbelt. But over and over and over again is just freaking annoying. Who came up with this horrible idea to annoy people to death ? Not everybody needs to wear a seatbelt if they aren't driving on public roads. Someone get that memo to the folks over at Dodge.

I did according to the video but it only works the first drive, after turning off ignition again the chime turns back on. I have a 2015 6.7L RAM. I would like to get rid of th chime permanently, instead of having to remember to do this process every time I go for a drive.
At the buckle cut the two wires that run from under seat and tie together . Chime gone forever !
Glad you still have the disclaimer about public vs private property. Just make sure your employer does not have a policy requiring seat belt use on their property, job sites, company vehicles, etc.
You are the reason everything needs a warning label.

Just bought a New 2019 Jeep Cherokee. I don't like wearing seatbelts, this worked like a charm!
Plus, as a pleasant surprise, doing this also disabled the annoying start-stop (ESS) as it wont work, when the seatbelt isn't engaged.
So not wearing my seatbelt after doing this, I have No chime from seatbelt, and No ESS whenever I stop.

Can confirm it works on 22' 2500
If, I may. On 2016 and some 2018 RAM, it requires 8 ,"Unbuckling Cycles", then turn IGN Off. DO NOT attempt to disable the light! Its tied into a safety relay! NEVER DRIVE WITHOUT A SEATBELT.

This great but it also turns off the foot brake alarm so I’ve been driving with the foot brake engaged until I realize it still engaged.
Is there a hack for driving with the door open? My husband has to go through a lot of gates and every time he has to jump out and open one and then move through it so he can then jump back out and close it, he has to fully close the door to put the truck in drive. It would be great if he could leave his door open for those few feet. He has the 2014 Ram. He also can't open the door to watch while backing up or getting through tight spots. Any suggestions to override? Thanks.
I couldn't get the seatbelt chime trick to work with the buckle, so I went to the bottom of the actual buckle and followed the cord to the first switch, I unplugged it. It gave me an airbag service warning, but also disabled the seatbelt chime and also auto park. i can now back up or drive forward with the door open, it does chime constantly because the door is open but better than closing the door all the time. hopefully it doesn't cause any other issues.

Its suppose to be the same procedure to turn it on again but haven't tried it myself yet.
What the hell kind of ridiculous inspection would be that thorough? I’m just thankful I live in a state that doesn’t require all that inspection bs which sounds like a lot of hassle just so the state can tax you some more

Nope this is the second 4th gen 1500 with the 5.7L hemi and high miles I have owned. This one has 105k miles on and no major issues I can report. My 2009 had 170k miles on it when I sold it to the next guy and same thing no issues, didn't burn any oil and drove smooth.
I did that before I left the dealership when I bought my 2016. The salesman said it couldn't be done so I had to prove him wrong. Lol
