Two things amaze me about this - first, that you filmed the exact model dryer with the exact issue as ours and second, your amazing generosity in sharing your knowledge with us. The satisfaction I got in repairing my own dryer was more rewarding than even the savings of avoiding an expensive repair call. You are a Rock Star 🌟
Our Maytag dryer just stopped heating suddenly. My husband found your video. After discovering that a repair person would not be available to come out and look at our problem for nearly a week, we decided to brave it and follow your instructions. My 19 year old son and my husband took the dryer apart as you directed. We identified the problem to be the heating element. I called a local appliance part store and located the part we needed. It is currently drying its first load of laundry. Thank you so much for giving such a thorough and easy to follow tutorial. We are not necessarily handy, but your instructions helped us make the repair!! Thank you!!!
This was the PERFECT video. I was able to take the entire dryer apart, diagnose the broken element, replace it, and reassemble everything, saving me tons of money…my husband just wanted to buy a new dryer! Thank you for taking the time to walk the faceless internet people through this repair!!!
Outstanding! I started and stopped and replayed portions of this video many times as I replaced the heating element on my exact same model dryer. Instructions and the video were clear and to the point. Great job!
Thank you so much! I managed to replace the heating elemant and thermal cut-off fuse all by myself with the help of your video. Pretty proud of this 50+ yr old lady. ;)
I just wanted to say thank you so much. You gave great instructions. As I am a 57 year old woman doing this myself. I have to say the hardest part was definitely getting the belt back on right. Fortunately my son came in and helped me with that part 😊
Thank you so much for this video! Purchased the heating element for around $40 online and followed your advice step by step. Fixed the problem for a sliver of what it would have cost us for a new dryer. Can't thank you enough! I also wanted to add another possibly helpful tip. I used a C shaped clamp to anchor the drum to the top of the dryer. It provided me enough room to get the element out and replace with a new one without removing the drum. Saved me some time.
Our dryer stopped heating and I found your video. Showed it to my husband, he ordered the heating element, followed your instructions and our dryer is working again! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
This gentleman helped me greatly in 2019 and 2020 with multiple appliances! I am hoping he knows just how thankful some of us are, who can't afford new appliances. Thank you sir! God Bless you and your family! Always... Signed, the guy that took a pneumatic die grinder to a stuck bearing race in a maytag bravos washer 2 or 3 years ago. Today, it was a belt on the bravos dryer.
My heating element went out on my Bravos XL dryer that was only 4-5 years old, and this video helped me do the repair. Part from Sears was $120, got a complete kit of parts from Amazon for $35, and no technician service call ($$$), so you helped me save a good amount of money. Thanks for posting this, it was extremely helpful !
Literally tore my dryer apart and diagnosed in 10 minutes thanks to this video. Also ordered all the parts from the links in the description. I went ahead and ordered thermostat, element and thermal fuse. That way its all new and I won't be tearing it back apart in a month to replace something else.
Used this video to replace the heating element in our Maytag. Took me a little longer then the 24 minute video, but that's because I had to come back to the video a few times to make sure I was following along correctly. The belt was a little harder then it was shown in video, but after a few curse words got the belt on properly. Thank you for posting.
Sir! As a single female teacher, thank you so much for this “how to” video! In the world of teaching; I would rate this a perfect explicit model!!! I’m so appreciative of your time and effort to make this video! I did it!!!
Thank You for making the well-made, thorough Dryer diagnosis and repair for the heating element! To help others: I would like to mention my hands were too big to put the belt on after the drum was in place. My alternative was to put the belt on the motor and idler pulley before the drum and carefully slip the belt over the drum during the drum install. Permatex High-Temp Red RTV Silicone was useful in holding the felt drum gaskets in place. Well done! Thanks again.
Just completed the repair. Didn't remove the drum but propped it up out of the way. That way I didn't have to reattach the belt. Only problem I had was removing the electrical connectors from the fuse and thermostat. That would have been easier if I did remove the drum. By far one of the best "how to videos"I have seen. Thank you.
Your Video is a lifesaver! Of course my dryer went out while I have a house full of out of town guests. Your very detailed instructions helped this homemaker get life rolling again during the Holidays! You're the BEST!
Hey Bearded Repair Dude, Thank you so , so much for Maytag Bravos dryer vid! It was just great I can understand why you've had over 50,000 views in less than a year. You were especially good at searching for a clear camera angle for some of the tricky parts: very well done. I'm over 70 years old and my only previous appliance repair was using a fork to get a stuck piece of toast out of my toaster. You've changed my life. I would only say I could not find your links to order parts from you, which I certainly would have done. (I needed a new heating element, just as in your example.)
Thank you so much for such a GREAT video tutorial! I used your video to successfully replace the heating element on the same type of drier. However, I will say that I ran into several issues during my install that might be noteworthy to add to your video. 1) I had everything dismantled and just happened to see that the idler pully was pretty black in the belt track. I attempted to turn the pulley and it was frozen up solid! I ended up having to replace the idler pully as well. So I would suggest mentioning to people to check that the idler is free spinning while they have the drier all opened up. 2) I put the belt on wrong on my first attempt and got the whole drier completely back together to find that the drier would turn on but run a drying cycle. I took it apart again and learned that I misfed the belt the wrong direction, which caused the idler arm to lower down onto, what I would call a cutoff switch, which kept the drier from spinning the drum. I assume that is a cutoff switch to turn the drier off if the belt breaks. I would mention in the video that if the drier does not run a drying cycle when install is complete, that this may be the problem. Check the routing of the belt. 3) I bought a kit that included the idler pulley, drum rollers, and belt. I worked on getting the belt on for the longest time without success. I took the back panel of the drier off so that I could get to the pulley better. I noticed that when I was attempting to put the belt on, I was unable to move the pulley arm up far enough to allow the belt to slip over the motor pulley. I then found that the pulley idler arm was actually hitting the shaft of the motor, not allowing it to raise up enough to put the belt on. I found that the NEW belt was too short. Luckily, I was able to use the old belt, which dropped right into place. I would say to others to compare the new belt length with the old belt length to see if you actually got the right belt. It would save a lot of time, effort, and frustration. Those are just the problems I ran into that would be great things for people to know up front to avoid the same problems. Thank you again for the great video! Your teaching style is exemplary.
I just replaced my heating element on my Maytag Bravos 400 series dryer and it works like a champ! This helpful tool guided me through every step of the way. I so appreciate you taking the time to make and share this video. Thank you.
Wonderful video! Came here to say I didn’t know where to even start on my dryer that just randomly stopped heating. It’s relatively new so I was even more flustered because of that reason. I Put my volt meter on the prongs of the heating element just as you showed and immediately had zero continuity! I was like rats! But also like let’s go!! He showed that! A Local niche appliance parts store here that has everything ended up having the exact part in stock!! Got the part replaced, and buttoned and voila! We’re heating folks!!!!! Thank you!!
I wanted to thank you for putting this video together. It was spot on! I will send everyone I know and network with to stop by your posts. You saved me a ton of grief with us living in MICHIGAN and everything starting to get shut down again here due to COVID. I ordered the part you described and fixed this in just under two hour not know anything about working on appliances let alone the electrical side of things..... You did a fantastic job explaining the steps and recommending the solution! I will be watching your videos! Thank you! Thank you!
Thank you so much for the video! Great step by step and visuals. I have the exact same dryer and you just saved me $300+ by not having to call the repair man. Appreciate you my friend!
Sir, thank you for this video! Im a teacher and I'm on a really REALLY tight budget. Your video probably saved me $200 and Im proud as hell that i just fixed my own dryer. Thank you so much for your helpful guidance, I would have been loat without it!
Your excellent video did us a great service; my husband was able to repair our 15 year old Maytag dryer. A great feeling to be able to repair our own appliances. Thank you!!!!
I’m in HVAC so I have a mind for mechanical things, but getting into my Maytag Bravos (different year than this one) was a total nightmare. The way you popped this one open gave me ideas for how to get in mine without breaking everything. You saved my back, because I was about to pull a He-Man and pick up my dryer and throw it off the balcony. If you ever have questions with your/your families HVAC reach out to me, I got your back.
Excellent video. Ours went out yesterday and then I found your video, called the local parts company where I live and they had 4 heating elements in stock. Ripped mine out, confirmed it was bad with no continuity, and installed the new part all within the span of about 2 hours. You saved me a lot of money, time, and headaches. Thank you!
Holy crap. I looked forever to find something to help me. I finally found your video. It took me awhile to fix mine, but I am barley considered a novice at home repairs. Thank you for making this video. It helped so much and saved us money!
Thank you for posting this video! I came back in from out of town to a dryer not producing heat. Found your video and troubleshot things quickly with multimeter and found the heating element had broken. $21 for the part, and a day later, we are back in business! Thanks for sharing your professional expertise. You earned a like and a new subscriber from this guy. :)
I don’t comment much but I’m a broke college kid and I’ve never done any real repairs on appliances before. But this video saved me the cost of getting a whole new dryer that I couldn’t afford and made the process of doing it fairly easy.
Thank you for helping me fix my dryer. Watched your video, bought a multimeter to see if it was indeed the heating element and it was. I really appreciate what you did here for our family. Dryer is working like new.
This is the 2nd time i replaced the heating element on my MEDB725Bw0. I thinking I should have bought the recommended part listed above or ordered from Bearded Appliance. The first one I used was the cheapest option on amazon and it lasted about 11 months. Awesome video. I dread searching youtube for help because of all the crap videos of people who just want to show themselves instead of the actual repair. Thanks again!
This is possibly the finest instructional DIY video in the history of the internet. Everyone, I mean everyone, that wants to post DIY clips needs to watch this as the gold standard. Beard, if you were in Oklahoma I would put you on a retainer. You are awesome!!
My husband and I used this video to clean out our dryer, and it is working like new this morning! Thank you so much for an easy to follow and understand DIY video,
Thanks! Fixed it with no problem. Element was $20. I just unscrewed the thermostat rather than risking breaking the connections. I also put belt on pulleys first before sliding drum in, then pulled up on belt on right side to give slack and maneuver the belt around the drum.
Excellent instruction sir. Had to buy a new volt meter as my old one grew legs. But, $82 bucks later (for the new element using the link you provided), about a week's wait for shipping, and boom. All done and heating up real nice in there. Also had time to clean the ever loving heck out of the thing so it's basically brand new old now. Thank you!
Omg my exact model, what a great surprise to find this perfectly detailed video. You made me the hero of my family today and made this task much less intimidating. Thank you!!!
I love your narrative style. I can't decide if you are are like the Mr. Rogers for the Bob Ross of appliance repair😊 " I like to just give that drum a good little turn".
Cannot be more thankful that this video exists!! Just bought this exact unit as a used item for a pretty good price, got it hooked up and it runs but doesn’t heat. Been searching for troubleshooting tips for most of today and finally came across this video. Going to open up the front and take a look tomorrow to see if the element is bad in mine. Great video, thanks for sharing!
I am speechless with how it easy it was to watch this awesome video and go step by step to diagnos my dryers issue. I have never took apart any appliance in my life and this video made it look simpler than walking. Thank God it was only the element. Took less than 10 min to take apart and 15 to put back together. As it stated in the video, the belt is fun to put back on..... not. Again, thanks for the video.
Thank you so much! My husband and I (who are not very handy) were able fix our dryer in a couple of hours following your tutorial. Great video and much appreciated!
This is the most comprehensive tear apart of this dryer I could find. Thank you so much! I was able to change the element on mine with your perfect instructions. 👌👌
Thank you so much for this video. I was able to change the heating element by myself for my Maytag Bravos quiet series 300 dryer just by watching and rewatching your video. Thanks again!
To echo all the previous comments: this was a great video. My wife and I are learning to be handy, and this taught us a lot in evaluation/diagnosis and management/maintenance of our problem (bad heating element). Super helpful. Thank you so much. Stay bearded, my friend.
I have this exact dryer and it wasn’t heating. I followed your video step by step and replaced the element and it works. I can’t believe with your help I was able to do it myself! Can’t thank you enough for posting the video!
Wow! I looked at so many frustrating videos until I found yours. Excellent! I don't say that very often, but you really do a superior job. Thank you thank you.
Follow up. Got the job done accessing the innards. A tip for the rest of the uninitiated DIYers out there if it suits you. I had a hard time putting the belt back onto the tensioner and motor idler because of the spring action, tight working space, and an awkward position for my physique. Maybe, as a suggestion, when the drum is out and there’s full access to that area, use a zip tie to pull up and hold the tensioner in place. It made it easier after I got the drum back in and reached around to get the drum belt back on correctly. After the belt was placed and turning the drum was verified, I just reached around and cut the zip tie. You can either leave it, but it’s easy to remove if you knot a thread or string onto the zip tie when placing it and use the thread to pull out the zip tie after it’s cut. Again, thanks for the tutorial. Waiting for the next appliance to break.
Thank you your video. Made replacing the heating coil really simple. Please keep up the great work and videos. Only took an hour to do the complete job. Guys like you really help us guys that have never worked on appliances. Thank you.
This was an excellent DIY video. I followed your instructions and was able to replace the heating element on my Maytag dryer. The only thing I did differently was remove the dryer's back panel so I could access the belt pulley system more easily.
I ended up doing the same thing, which was pretty easy. I found out the reason I was having such a hard time putting on the new belt is that the new belt was the wrong size! Ended up putting the old one back on. The idler pulley had to be replaced also.
Really helped man went 3 days without a dryer waiting on the element to come in the mail followed this step by step easy as pie. Definitely take a picture of the wires first lol a quick google reassured me I was right
Awesome video! My dryer was exactly the same as this one and it had a faulty heater - it was heating our clothes on the "air dry" cycle". This video saved me a couple of hours of frustration and missteps, I'm sure! Thanks for posting.
Good commentary as you go through the steps. Easy to understand each step and appreciate the extra effort for the camera views. Now to do my own exploration with our heatless Maytag.
Ty so much! ❤ My problem was not the heating element it was the thermo fuse. Your video plus a $7 part and a few hrs later and my dryer is up and running again.
Thank you so much for this video! I have a Bravos Quiet Series 400, purchased in 2009. It stopped heating up Monday. On Wednesday, it’s working just fine with a new heating element. I could not have attempted this without your video!
This saved me. I have replaced the heating element on other dryers in the past but it was done from the back. I was having fits because the back would not come off. Thanks a ton
The video really helped me to replace the dryer heater. Putting the belt back on threw me for a loop! :) I had to imaging how the belt will go on from the front view since the camera view was from the rear facing the front. But, the dryer is working now so the wife is happy!
great instructions! i did this repair 1.5 years ago and it took me forever. looks like the element is gone again, so will follow these great tips. Thank you!
My husband and I are seniors. Have watched your video and feel confident about removing the front to remove what I believe is lint buildup. Then on to our Bravos XL washing machine that can't get beyond rinse and onto spin. We'll look for your video on that. We'll let you know😮...
I really appreciate this video !!! Like has been said, the exact dryer and problem..... kind of wish I had paid the repair guy though !! So the repair has been made !! I would not have been able to do it without this video. Thank you for the detailed and in-depth video Sir !!! 🤘
This video made a moderately challenging job of replacing a heater dramatically easier and safer. The tips for the safety clip on the duct from the heater and re-attaching the drum belt were key. Thank you. I hit the subscribe button. You have a very nice helpful style with a detailed knowledge behind that.😊
We have this exact model and our dryer stopped heating up last week. Well because of finding your video I was able to change out my element (hoping that was the problem) by myself and my 6 year old son as a bystander lol. I still can't believe I did it and it works now and I only cut myself once 😂. Thank you so much for this video!
Thank you for the video. I echo all previous comments. This was a fantastic demonstration with every detail covered for my Maytag Bravos XL Dryer Model: YMEDB750YW2. The Maytag website specifies that the replacement Heating Element is model # WPW10044440. Hopefully the OEM version in the post above will do the trick.
Super helpful video... I had the exact same thing with my Maytag Bravos 400 series electric dryer. The tricky part for me was the felt rings (front & back) that fit on the drum - finally got it figured out and the job was a cinch! Thanks to the Bearded one!!
Two things amaze me about this - first, that you filmed the exact model dryer with the exact issue as ours and second, your amazing generosity in sharing your knowledge with us. Great video. Fixed the dryer in just a few hours total. Saved my marriage! 🤣🤣🤣
Excellent!
🤣🤣
A few hours?! (How many beers did you drink) Yeah that's why my wife thinks it takes a few hours to 'change the oil' on the cars too. ;)
@@TheFoyer13 I think he’s taking into account the time to get the piece from the store as well
I’m not married so my girlfriend can wait till Monday ;)

Thank you so much for such a GREAT video tutorial! I used your video to successfully replace the heating element on the same type of drier. Thank you for helping me. I'm 75 but not dead, so I like fixing things myself. You made it much easier than my error and do over method.
Thank you so much for the video! Great step by step and visuals. I have the exact same dryer and you just saved me $300+ by not having to call the repair man. Appreciate you my friend!
Video is four years old and helped me fixed my dryer today!!! Thank you so much.

Just completed this on my dryer. Followed your video step by step. Done in an hour or so. Thank you!
Thank you!! Being a widow of a Jack of all trades, I can't believe how expensive it is to call a repair man! You saved me a bunch of money!!
Saved me $500 on buying a new dryer! You're the man! Thanks!
Thank you sir. I searched for a while on how to properly take this machine apart. Just got finished. Thank you again.
My wife and I were able to fix our dryer with the help of your insightful, pleasant video. Thank you.
Thank you so much! My husband and I (who are not very handy) were able fix our dryer in a couple of hours following your tutorial. Great video and much appreciated!
I can’t thank you enough! This video guided me through the process of fixing (and cleaning) my dryer. You’re a life and money saver!
This is the most comprehensive tear apart of this dryer I could find. Thank you so much! I was able to change the element on mine with your perfect instructions. 👌👌
Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video. Your explanation of the job is second to none!
Thank you so much for this video. I was able to change the heating element by myself for my Maytag Bravos quiet series 300 dryer just by watching and rewatching your video. Thanks again!
Thank you for making this video! Replacing the element was ALOT cheaper and easier than getting a new dryer!!
Great to hear!
What year is this dryer?
Wow! I looked at so many frustrating videos until I found yours. Excellent! I don't say that very often, but you really do a superior job. Thank you thank you.
Wanted to show appreciation to you! This is the second time I’m watching this video to fix my dryer again!
We service this model all most every week.Very popular in our area. Good video we follow the procedure you presented in your video thank you.
That is the best appliance video I’ve seen in years. Excellent camera work. Very complete.
Wow, thanks!
Thorough and straightforward video made it a manageable and inexpensive DIY repair. Thank you for posting!
Thank you your video. Made replacing the heating coil really simple. Please keep up the great work and videos. Only took an hour to do the complete job. Guys like you really help us guys that have never worked on appliances. Thank you.
I've used this twice- to replace the heating element in the same dryer. It's awesome- thank you!
Thanks! This helped me fix my dryer that stopped heating. Turns out it was the heating element. I couldn't have done it without this video!
Really helped man went 3 days without a dryer waiting on the element to come in the mail followed this step by step easy as pie. Definitely take a picture of the wires first lol a quick google reassured me I was right
This is the only video I could find with the same setup, saved me and my housemates having to get another dryer. Thanks!!
You're doing a public service! Thank you, sir.
I used this guide to fix my Bravos 300 series with no problem. I did take the back panel off to access the belt much easier than what is shown here.
Dryer stopped working today. Watch video and diagnosed the heating element. Fantastic video
Thank you so much for this video! I have a Bravos Quiet Series 400, purchased in 2009. It stopped heating up Monday. On Wednesday, it’s working just fine with a new heating element. I could not have attempted this without your video!
Glad it helped!
This helped me immensely. This is the exact dryer I have and your walkthrough was exactly what I needed. Thank you so much
My heater element went out and I found this video. It was perfect and made it easy to follow. Thank you so much!
Don’t ever stop doing these videos!! Fantastic! You are a hero!
This video saved my girl and I close to 300 dollars. I can’t thank you enough
This is amazing. I have this dryer. Its working fine but now after watching this I want to take it apart to clean it.
Explained very well. I am repairing an old Maytag Bravos just like this one. Nice visual descriptions. Thanks.
great instructions! i did this repair 1.5 years ago and it took me forever. looks like the element is gone again, so will follow these great tips.
Thank you so much. I was able to successfully repair my dryer following your video. I’m very appreciative!
This video made a moderately challenging job of replacing a heater dramatically easier and safer. The tips for the safety clip on the duct from the heater and re-attaching the drum belt were key. Thank you. I hit the subscribe button. You have a very nice helpful style with a detailed knowledge behind that.😊
Awesome - my dryer needed the fuse replaced but your assembly & disassembly info was invaluable !!!
Thank you! You just saved us from an expensive repair or even replacement. I was able to fix it in about 2 hours. Much appreciated!
Thank you so much! I swapped my element out so easily due to your helpful tutorial.
Thanks for the great in depth video. Just saved our family a lot of mine. $39 on Amazon, done.
Saved money and time thanks to your videos. You're a lifesaver, and you've got a subscriber!
Super helpful video... I had the exact same thing with my Maytag Bravos 400 series electric dryer. The tricky part for me was the felt rings (front & back) that fit on the drum - finally got it figured out and the job was a cinch! Thanks to the Bearded one!!
lol they are on there tight. especially putting on new one. You need 4 hands to get them on sometimes lol. glad to be of service!
I was able to repair my dryer thanks to your video, thanks again !
