Thank you very much for this excellent video about the Maytag gas dryer. Your instruction was extremely helpful towards resolving a gas dryer not heating. May God bless you and your family
Great video. All the parts he tested are most of the normal 5 or 6 parts that typically break on almost all makes and models of a standard gas dryer. Take note of the igniter turning white hot. They will sometimes still glow when they are actually broken. The white hot glow as opposed to a lesser reddish glow is necessary for the igniter to complete the cycle in order for the gas valve to open.
Thank You very much for taking the time to make this video....I was able to figure out I had a Bad "Cycling Thermostat" I replaced same and was able to breathe New Life into my 25+ yr Old Maytag Dryer...more Beer $$ 4 Me!! :)
Great Video got the same dryer had no heat. Bought maytag spare dryer parts off of amazon. I opened the back 8 screws swapped 2 parts put back together and bingo dryer back to normal. Thanks so much for the video.
Thanks for the full diagnostic, now I know how to get at my felt seal! I see that your dry has black/carbon on the hot air supply grill. Seems odd, our machine is about a year old and I was wondering about it. I don't know what tugged my felt out but it didn't tear so I can remount it.
great video i have same dryer no flame thanks ill chk the back first I figured most of these can be jumped out but i wont keep them jumped out deff not safe Thanks again excelant video
@@efd I had to wait for the part to come to tell. It WORKS! It was the thermal fuse. Thanks again, I have no electrical background and was able to fix it because of your video.
great video the only thing u did not do that u should do next time is open the piece where blower motor sits in especially if u already took lint screen screws out there are 4 more screws and in that metal duct its usally full of dirt lint and sand witch can cause over heating because blower wont pull out air this will also cause thermal fuse to blow How do I know I did the same thing and blew new fuse when i opened up duct it was loaded with heavy dirt and blower blades were also full of dirt Thanks again great video
That sounds like the sensor in the dryer, when you look in there are 2 metal strips. Clean those, if they have a build up of gunk on them, it won’t read the moisture
I'm having an issue with my Maytag but the igniter is working but won't fire up. I glows for 30 seconds then faded but the gas won't kick. It's not a supply problem. What could it be?
Jesus Christ, all you had to do is take the back panel off to test these elements! Don't follow these instructions folks, unless you're just genuinely curious on how your dryer works as a whole, and you have a lot of free time.
For one for me yeah good to see the workings of dryey, but like what if he bought the $45dollr part and it was a 3dolla part down the line and took out this 45dolla sensor again,, iam not sure but it may be service procedures idk, that's how technicians get you sometimes doing service blow your shit up and charge you ,,,,,that's why iam here I have dryer problems rt now good day to and luck to me

Thank you very much for making this video and helping us learn how to repair our own dryers . Thank you again,Have a bless day
Replaced thermal fuse with your help, and yahoo, our dryer is heating again! Thanks for the informative video!
Awesome! Glad it helped!

Thanks man, it all comes down to testing resistance to see what isn’t working.

Very good video! For me, it was a dead fuse. I never would have known where to look. Thanks for sharing!!
Glad it helped and you were able to fix it 😀
Thanks for taking the time to create this video. Your detailed steps saved me a $200 service call! Much appreciated.

Glad it helped and figured it out before tearing the entire thing apart :)
Do u have the link for the amazon where u got the parts
Thank you, I fixed my dryer because of you.
Awesome! glad it helped!
@@efd good video. 5 stars.
Not exactly my model, but helpful to know about the peephole (no other vids for my model discuss it) and seeing what the parts do.
super job on this video - showed me exactly how to disassemble and diagnose the issue - much appreciated.
No problem, hope you figured it out before taking the entire thing apart like I did 😀
Thank you for your video! I had the exact same dryer and issue! God bless you!
Glad it helped. Hopefully you test everything before completely taking it apart like I did. :)
Thank you for uploading this! It helped me to fix mine and save me a lot of $$$

Thanks for this video. With your instruction, I was able to successfully troubleshoot and replace the bad part.
That’s awesome! Glad it was helpful
Thank you for taking the time to record / post this. Saved me a fist full of Ben Franklins ! $6 part fixed it. MAGA

Yeah, don’t do what did and disassemble the entire think, test those sensors first
Thank you very much
Very well explained. Thanks

Great video and explanation. 👌
Thanks, hope it helped!
Thank you for this video. So the only way to test the part that you replaced is to do the bypass? It can't be tested with the multi meter?
It probably could, but I don’t know that the resistance should be.
Thank you!

You are most welcome!
Great video A+
Does dryer got to be on when you relight pilot light t
thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My dryer only heats on the timer setting. On auto the flame never turns on. Do you think it's the same sensors?
That sounds like the sensor in the dryer, when you look in there are 2 metal strips. Clean those, if they have a build up of gunk on them, it won’t read the moisture
MY dryer has a little blue disc in the wire loom leading to gas solinoid what is it and how to test it.
Without seeing it, I’m not sure. My guess is it’s a gas valve coil.
What do you do if everything has continuity? Still no glow or heat. Same dryer as the one in the video.
hmmm, if you 100% have gas and power, then i would test the igniter. If its good, it could be an issue with the gas valve.
I'm having an issue with my Maytag but the igniter is working but won't fire up. I glows for 30 seconds then faded but the gas won't kick. It's not a supply problem. What could it be?
Have you tested the sensors? Something is telling the dryer to not release the gas.
Mine has fire on for about 5 minutes, than fire shut off completely. So the problem is on the coils ? Thanks
It could be one of the sensors when it gets hot, best to test them all.
That is my dryer.. When tested the flame comes on but when the clothes are put into the dryer then the flame won't come on consistently.
Did you fix the problem?
Yes, it ended up being the sensor I tested near the end of the video.
Is it normal for it to smoke after changing the heating element?
I don’t think it should ever smoke.
Where is the pilot light so I can relight it
Anyone know where to light up the pilot light in Maytag gas dryer
It has a piece that sparks to ignite the flame, there is not a continuous pilot light
Can I safely jump out the thermocouplibg for now
I don’t think I would. The thermo couple is pretty important.
Pilot light is off need to light it to dry clothes
FYI Buy A Flashlight. SO you and the Viewing Audience can SEE👀

Thanks, I said that at the end of the video. that I should have tested those first. Live and learn.
I am glad he went thru all the options so we could see everything that could go wrong. Super fantastic video!
