In the original story true loves kiss did work. The prince took her "dead" body because she was so beautiful. And somewhere along the line the chunk of apple got dislodged and she woke up.
I don’t think it was the kiss I think that they dropped her when they were carrying her glass coffin and because of the fall the poison apple chunk got dislodged from her throat and that’s how she wakes up

The guards carrying the coffin stumbled and Snow White 'coughed' up a chunk of the poisonous apple. No true love kiss included. And yeah... Goodness... the prince had a thing for dead body. I thought he just wanted to take her because he read the text on the coffin saying she was a King's daughter. You know... Fellow royalty... But he did say that he couldn't live without looking at her. I wonder if there was any movie made exactly like the story. It's going to be a horror movie.
I feel the need to point out that the prince’s horse is white and death rides a pale horse and snow literally rides said white horse which can also be interpreted as pale since to my knowledge the actual color of the horse is never specified
WHY WE STEALING BODIES
I have this theory, the Dwarves worked for the Evil Queen, that's where she get all her wealth. After her "death", all the dwarves used the minerals such as diamonds, rubies and others crystals to forge and create a coffin for Snow White's memory. It's possible that the dark magic from the apple is what kept from Snow White's body to decay, due being usually connected Necromancy and curses.
At least Ven got to beat the shit out of them.

Also, with what the dwarves were mining, affording a fancy glass and gold coffin should be easy. They were most likely hoarding the gems and living thrifty in order avoid thieves, taxes, and getting the entire mine and all their gems stolen by the crown. And they probably had plans to go to another country after their mine ran dry and retire as rich men.

Sorry The Fangirl, have to debunk your theory, if you pay attention to the part where the Queen or "witch" concocts the poison apple in her laboratory, she specifically says "but wait what if there is an antecdote??' nothing must be overlooked!!" she scurries back to her spell book where she finds it says in giant letters "The victim of the sleeping death can be revived by Loves First Kiss" the Queen/witch didn't think that would happen because she didn't count on the Dwarfs not burying her and keeping her in a glass coffin. Its funny how this little detail is overlooked and everyone has this alternative theory about the ending.
I always found it ironic that she looked up an antidote because in her own words "NOTHING must be overlooked" and as soon as she finds the antidote she dismissed it (overlooking it).

My favourite dwarf is Grumpy because in Shrek the Musical he got married to the Princess from the Princess and the Pea and they were the parents of Lord Farquaad. Which means that Farquaad is the surname of the 7 dwarfs.

I just want to say when i was a kid watching snow white for the first time seeing the ending i always thought they were heading towards a castle in the sky so yes i thought it was heaven too i thought they were both dead but about that text they wrote its possible when they said she was beautiful even in death i think we were getting the dwarfs thoughts on how she looked because hey the dwarfs didnt know she was in a sleep like death they just thought she was dead and the gold they probably found at snow whites castle probably melted it down and put her in it and as for her not opening her eyes she was asleep for a long while its possible she couldnt open her eyes because of the fact they were caked with sleepy either that or she had irratated eyes i mean if you havent opened your eyes in a while youd have trouble opening your eyes too or it could be that they were reusing some old slides over and over again that they forgot to keep her eyes open at the end of the film. Plus at the end of the film we see a castle covered with clouds or is it just fog covering the hills plus its not suppose to be snow whites castle we see in the distance its suppose to be the princes although if its his what took him so long i mean he was literally not that far away. Anyway you want to look at it she did get a happy ending but if it is about snow white being dead then yes i see it but if she and the prince are dead i also think we are to assume all six dwarfs are also dead just because the seventh one is missing and i think he is the only dwarf alive it could be the dwarfs died from the hypothermia from the rain or they died from the bolder that landed on the evil queen.Although its sad to think they are dead but if you take it from the computer game disney villians the evil queen not only put snow white in eternal slumber but also put the seven dwarfs in it too. I wouldn't put it pass her to do that to put the prince in eternal slumber either that or he died in his sleep. Or they could all be in eternal sleep by choice meaning they eat what was left of the apple because they couldnt live in a world without her. So yeah i mean as a kid i saw the ending as her and the prince riding to his castle in the sky i just thought maybe they went to heaven but its possible they were alive and the castle was just to far away i mean i don't really look to much into it just because of the fact disney was planing a sequal to this one but for some reason it never got made for some reason. Hey! Don't know if my comment will get lost, but I remember reading a Disney comic my mum had about Show White. It shows that the Queen put the prince in prison. After she transforms to her disguised form she tells him that she'll kill Snow White. He escapes later.

P.S. I always thought she was going to heaven as a child, but never saw it in a dark light at all.
Let's just pretend Aqua really was there with him at the time just like in the game, fuse Kingdom Hearts with the movies it's doing the stories of so it makes more sense.
First I would like to say that I adore your channel and enjoy listening to all your different theories, but I think you might have gotten few details with Disney’s Snow White. The idea that Snow is dead and the Prince is taking her to the afterlife has been floating around for awhile but when you look at certain scenes or factor in certain facts about characters it doesn’t hold up well. When the Evil Queen goes out of her way to create a magical poison apple to give Snow, we learn that the potion is called the Sleeping Death. We even see that she checks her books to see if it has a cure, which turns out is suppose to be Loves First Kiss not True Loves Kiss. The concept of True Loves Kiss was introduced in Sleeping Beauty, not Snow White. The Evil Queen was certain that her plan would succeed, due to the belief she held that the dwarves would bury her and not keep above ground. The fact Snow is unchanged physically from being in a glass coffin could be due to the potions affects. She could have been put into a state of magical suspended animation. This is what they did in Sleeping Beauty as she was supposed to stay untouched by time until True Loves Kiss woke her up. We see the three fairies cast a similar spell on everyone in the castle so that when Aurora woke so would they. Maleficent even makes a great speech about how she plans to release Phillip when he is an old man and let wake Aurora as she will be completely untouched by time unlike him. Speaking of Princes, Prince Florian(Snow White’s Prince) is seen without an escort at the beginning of the movie when he first meets Snow. He even scales the wall of the castle courtyard to gain entrance, again a trait shared with Prince Phillip in Sleeping Beauty. Neither of them have guards with them when they meet their respective princesses, just their horses. My guess is that the Evil Queen announced that Snow had been killed and the Prince went in search of her killers. Regardless of the Evil Queen’s hatred of her stepdaughter, Snow was heir to the throne and was known to her people. The Huntsman even refers to her as ‘the little princess’, so the Queen could not just pretend that Snow didn’t exist. By spreading this information it kept people from looking for Snow and led many including her Prince on a wild goose chase. This is probably what led to the Prince hearing about the girl in the glass coffin. The fact that Snow doesn’t have her eyes open when saying goodbye to the dwarves is something Snow does a lot throughout the movie. It was most likely a creative choice as Snow has small delicate facial features and her eyes were probably a pain to draw at the time. It was the nineteen thirties after all so everything was hand drawn and painted so they mostly likely cut corners where they could. As to why Snow and her Prince don’t get married at the is probably due to Snow’s age. Snow White according to the Disney version is fourteen years old. Even in the nineteen thirties his would have caused a few raised eyebrows, even if it more socially acceptable to marry young. The ending that Disney went with gives the impression of a brighter future for Snow. Sorry for the really long comment but this how I interpret the movie. Wishing you continued success with the channel.
This is an interesting interpretation of the visuals, but I don't think it's what was intended. I think the "closed" eyes are an animation shortcut, and the castle bing in the clouds is artsy visuals signifying that it is "happily ever after".
this is an old comment but i agree with you! lots of people interpret that as her entrance to heaven but forget that many early disney movies were created with aesthetics in mind! sleeping beauty ends with her and the prince dancing on top of clouds. it’s all supposed to fit in with the fairy tale theme. it was a beautiful art form

Dopey is my favorite! I mean, the scene with Snow White kissing the Dwarves on the head is weird (the one where they’re heading to the mines, and Dopey tries to kiss her proper when she gives them kisses on the head goodbye. Remember, she’s only 14, but I’m hoping it’s just a running gag of its time rather than Dopey being a creep) but I thought he was funny. He reminded me of Harpo from The Marx Brothers. :)
Yeah I'm pretty sure Dopey would be me too'ed today, but for the 1920s/1600s he was just seen as harmlessly flirting. It does look so off to see him act like that in 2019 now lol

If you have the diamond edition of snow white and the seven dwarfs you'll see in the bonus features snow white returns newly discovered storyboards I think Walt Disney was going to make a sequel but he died before he could make it. I think if you look it up on TH-cam you maybe able to find it.
Or maybe he got lost in the dark realm and they're trying to bring him back.
Happily Ever After is one of my favorite childhood movies. Maybe you could do a theory on that movie someday 😊

I love them all. I even love Grumpy. Especially, at the end when Grumpy shows his emotion when Snow White is in her coffin. It showed that Grumpy was Not all bad. That he may of always been grumpy. Here’s my theory: when Snow White ran away, a maid or someone in the palace (I haven’t watched the film in probably 10 years) caught wind of her leaving and alerted the prince. He was in love with her all these years and cared deeply for her. The dwarfs mined for the palace and didn’t make a lot of money so he would send them money in return for her saftey. He knew it was so deep in the forest acres and asked them to take her in. One of the dwarfs grew tired of this 14 year old in their house and told the queen everything. Snow White was poisoned and the prince went through a trial and was ultimately executed for this actions. (Which explains why it took so long for the prince to find her and why she only kissed 6 out of 7 dwarfs.)

Interesting theory! My favorite dwarf is Bashful, I related to him so much, being shy as a kid.
First, I want to point out that the Dwarves say they are rich in the song, "High Ho." The song clearly states, "It's no trick to get rich quick.". Yes, they live in a simple house, but James Cash Penny wore old shirts and faded blue jeans, despite being a billionaire. Some people like simple.
As for why no Snow White sequels, I think the answer the same for why there is still no announcement of a live action remake of Snow White. They dare not touch their number one flagship movie! This is the film that built the studio. It saved them from bankruptcy in WW2. It introduced the tradition of rereleasing their movies in theaters before the advent of home video. The Snow White and Mickey Mouse are the two most crucial properties Disney has. They don't want to risk tarnishing them.
Is she dead? Probably just well rested.

Plus the only reason I believe she actually died and The Prince is an Angel guiding her to Heaven is because off the Castle in the sky all shiny and spiritual.
She'd be dead from blinking if Prince Philip were an angel, there's no such place as Heaven since it's a bootleg Olympus and she was actually going to Valhalla.
Her eyes were also closed for most of the movie, so it's possible she died before even meeting the 7 dwarves.

This theory was great! Also snow white was NOT the first animated film it was the first animated feature-length film basically animations were only around 20 min and snow-white was 1hr which was revolutionary for that time being it cost around thousands of dollars

Didn't the prince "shimmy" in the original theatrical version when he bent down to kiss Snow White? Because I heard that there was a problem with the camera in that scene, and it was too expensive to redo, so the film was released with the mistake.

Lol, I thought you were going to talk about how in the original story the Prince didn't wake Snow White with a kiss. He actually tried to buy her from the Dwarves but they refused and it is speculated that this is because it would be disrespecting the deceased. He then asked if he may just take her with him and the Dwarves agreed to allow his servants to carry off the coffin. As it happened though a servant fell dropping Snow White to one side and knocking out the piece of apple still in her mouth thus waking her up. So yeah, handsome Prince didn't wake her in the original story it was a clumbsy servant. I think my favorite Dwarf is Grumpy just because he is such a contrasting character compared with the other Dwarves.

I knew this already when Jon Solo explained the story's origins, but at least she didn't get pregnant with twins and was a princess of heart and also my Bo Peep figure came in the mail the other day while I was at work.

Yeah, plus I really doubt that it's the Prince's castle, because Snow White was less than a day's walk from her own castle. They generally don't build them up back-to-back like that.

Great analysis. Snow White can be looked at in a multitude of ways. Not a film I rewatch often but it's interesting how the ending can be interpreted. I don't mind Snow White being alive but the death theory does have merit. Castle in the sky is one of the references for heaven and let's not go into stairways. We all know what song will be an earworm in our ears.
I think the last scene was more metaphorical than realistic. So basically they died.
I thought there was just a cliff and the castle was so high that it looks like it is heaven, but it's actually a castle on a high mountain or so. My theory though, don't know if she is dead or not.
I don't think the Prince "Died" I think he's straight up The/A *Angel of Death* who she fell in love w and he fell in love w her too- coming for her when she'd been long dead by several seasons, only in the Season of Love to bring her to Heaven.. kinda sweet romantic.
The dwarfs or mining those gems for the hell of it so they could have just got those gems and sold them in town to get the pieces they need for her coffin so then getting the coffee makes sense kind of. My favorite dwarf is Grumpy!! Anyway I dont believe Snow White was dead at the end. The text says that because she was in a sleeping death situation..like she was in a situation of death and sleep at the same time .. while she didn't breath or have any other living symptoms she still was like no day had passed upon her and didn't rot or anything cos this wasnt necessarily a permanent situation..like sleep is not permanent..it was created by magic. A magic that produced both deadly and sleeping symptoms. About the eyes though.. either an error or if you watch Snow carefully in the whole film she closes her eyes a lot .. especially when she's doing something sweet and loving..or she just might be looking down..whoever's you se looking down his eyes would look as if they are closed.. Last thing..the castle.. Philip and Aurora are dancing on the clouds too ..they are not dead..its just a dreamy way of closing up and in this case showing distance.. Sorry for my English

I've seen this theory video many times, and one unanswered question has been bugging me about the details, so I found myself on a Disney wiki page, falling deeper and faster down the rabbit hole than intended (sorry to mix references like that), and after a few more clicks, I learned who Snow White left out with her goodbye kisses in the final scenes. Poor Sleepy was not given a kiss goodbye. And now, according to cannon from your theory, since she's gone to heaven, Sleepy can now only dream that he was given one last kiss by the only woman to ever treat him and his brothers with such kindness and affection. How sad, but how appropriate, that he is constantly showing signs of both narcolepsy and self-depravation, and he will only have one way to really cope with her loss, in the end. She woke up, and is gone forever, and all he can hold onto in his last moments with her is the wish-fulfillment-esque dream that he got to have one last moment with his friend before she left them, all of them, forever.

I've heard that the prince could be a representation of Jesus. He's not taking her back to some random kingdom, he's taking her to Heaven. I so want to see a mouth wash commercial where it's the prince's breath that wakes up Snow White, not his kiss.

Im surprised, i thought for sure u 'd mention this: the prince never has an escort in the film and shows up only as she's wishing for him in a supposedly magical well; i think he died before we even meet him. I also think its possible they already had love's first kiss before he died and that's why the queen isn't worried about it.

Here’s what I think happened to prince “ the evil queen wanted to marrry him she finds about him loving Snow White and murders him but she realizes she made a mistake on killing him and he will never be with snow so she was so sad that she killed him and he would never be with a murder that’s why she didn’t kill the miners cause she finally got caught for all her murders and arrested scream it’s not over”

That's an interesting theory! I have a counterpoint to a few of these. First, I was always under the impression that the castle in the end was the Prince's, not Snow White's. So that would explain why it looked so different. Second, the potion that the apple was dipped in was called "The Sleeping Death," which is pretty vague. A lot of people assume it puts the victim in a coma or something, and if that was the case, Snow would have died in the coffin. But what if The Sleeping Death was literally that? Making the victim appear to be dead but keeping the body in tact as if they were still alive? Third, we have no idea how the dwarves' job works. They are just as likely to be working for someone else as they are working for themselves and like their privacy and not want anything extravagant. It doesn't go to prove my point or disprove yours, we just don't know. Thank you for making a theory on Snow White! She doesn't get much positive attention and I love to see stuff on the movie! I liked your video, and I'm just putting my ideas out here. My comments have a bad habit of seeming mean when I don't intend them to be. Thank you again!
