I didn't know walter was in the USA. I used yo hear a lot about him and Leinier, and Bruzon, as well as Jesus Nogueira growing up in Cuba. Nice to know he still plays.
@Sn1993rs This guy is way more talented and accomplished than you'll ever be. Wanna mow my lawn instead, lil bud? It's what people of your IQ and academic level are supposed to be doing anyway...
Oh wow could you like be my coach 😭 I live here too, saw you at the tourney, wanted a pic but I was just too shy ahahhaa, got a selfie with Eric tho@@WalterArencibia
Dude words can’t express how much I love your energy. The game ends with a blunder after an amazing fight, and you don’t huff and puff or even look upset, you just smile, congratulate your opponent, and laugh about it with him. Freaking love it man. I wish I had that attitude with so many things in life, but I let my emotions get the better of me
1) I love your opponent, of course not as much as you. 2) I haven't been on youtube for a few months, and since I've been gone your quality of content has improved, i LOVE the way these videos are formatted and displayed and timed. Really cool
Eric as a fellow content creator I will always feel inspired as to how truly incredible your videos are. From getting everything set up, the silly music while the clock was getting fixed, the 2d board and the incredible commentary. Much much MUCH love!!!
I love your playstyle so much. I really feel you embody the quote: "I want to take my opponent into a deep dark forest where 2+2=5, and the path leading out is only wide enough for one" Thank you for your videos!
It blows my mind that you’re not over 1m subs yet! You are the most wholesome chess personality on TH-cam, but I guess that makes sense that people are just really into drama and and Red Bull manic energy, where I like my Bob Ross of chess
That's rough, always sucks to lose a game like that. I'm not great at chess but that rook A2 move looked really tempting even before you mentioned it, although I only saw rook to A8 as a follow up, I somehow missed the queen taking the knight. Though I think in a similar situation I probably also wouldn't make it without being able to calculate a definite advantage/winning position; I've played enough chess and lost enough games to know that more often than not playing on instinct alone doesn't go well...at least it doesn't for me lol Great video as always!
oh no my queen! awesome opening preparation. I like your explanation style. Me too I saw the rook sac in a2 but difficult to play in a tournament. Online it is an immediate sac without thinking
Heartbreaking-you had victory in your hand. I was shouting at the board. “The roook! Take the pawn!!” Gotham had taught me this I couldn’t see a clear win-but draw at worse.
Interesting game as always Eric. I left my Q en pris the other day- pretty sure that isn't part of your online coaching offer..... but then..... Keep up the great content!
nice to see even a master like you can make a touch move mistake, they are always trying to train that out of me at my libraries chess club ahaha. well played well played, great and insightful vid as always.
After "unstoppable Qa2", what keeps White from running the king to the king side and finding safety, maybe on a light square? Would love to see what the real follow up would be, as it wasn't clear to you in the game, nor to me even now.
At 12:51 if the bishop wasn't covering f8 he would have back-rank mate. Great game, if you had even the slightest advantage in that position you would have won.
17:20 I am sorry I dont see what Qe2 does in this position it looks a bit scary but to me it seems white has enough defenders and the king can just run?
It's Qa2+, Kc2 Rb8. Here white should give up the pawn and run the king. If white tries to defend with Rb1 then Qb3+ leads to a forced mate in a few moves. With the b2 pawn captured, white wants to trade and stabilize, and get the h1 rook into the game. Black must avoid the queen trade, keep pressure with checks and tempo on the queen, avoid blundering a back-rank mate, and swallow up those central pawns. Too hard for me to play in blitz - I'd need at least 20 seconds per move to make sure I'm not blundering something (or walking into a queen trade).
As a mere spectator, I would love to see Eric play more aggressive and risky chess, rather than slowly getting outplayed. Especially in blitz events, when there are no GM norms on the line if I understand correctly.
That's my dad right there! I got him the blazer as a holiday souvenir, but I didn't know he wore it that day. So happy ❤😂.
Thanks for the gift Gaby! This jacket brought me some luck in that game😅.

A tale as old as time: Rosen getting up 1:30 in the opening, Time equality by move 14
Your oppponent's jacket/blazer was fantastic.
That's all I could think the entire time.
it was his psychological tactics :)
The loudest part of the video.
I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic but I do like it

weak man
@@carl2552 Who?
The way he laughed when the clock didn't work at first just endears me so much to him
The way he pointed at that bishop was cold af
rules are cold af
No it wasn't, he was pointing out "you can't do that". Routine.
It was normal… idk what you people smoke
not at all. He was making sure later he can prove that opponent did in fact touch the bishop. Touch piece move.
So is life at times :)

Bro the chess board gets blurry sometimes and I thought I was tripping lol
Yeah this was really disconcerting. I kept blinking and had to go back in the video to prove my sanity.
Chess is a helluva dr*g

7:25 “the bissue with a3” talking about a move that would make the bishop sad 🤣🤣
Was looking for such a comment 🤣
awesome production quality, awesome game. Your opponent seemed like an nice guy. We need more :)
Great game Eric, appreciate the upload, good luck on your next game.
Dang I was invested in how you would pull it off. Great informative video.
Interesting game & analysis, Eric. Thanks for sharing despite your loss!
pleasure watching this guy play chess. He is so wholesome. He takes his wins and losses well. A really likeable guy.

Great video as always!
Problem is that down a pawn and backward pawn on d7, allowing white to consolidate practically guarantees a loss. but… it is blitz.😢
Thank you Walter for the great game with Eric Rosen
oh no my queen! awesome opening preparation. I like your explanation style. Me too I saw the rook sac in a2 but difficult to play in a tournament. Online it is an immediate sac without thinking
Eric is so humble in saying, "... missing the fact that his queen can move backwards."

That arbiter’s beard fade is so smooth it looks like a filter lol.
That was the defense of a GM.
1:03 how did arbiter do it???!!!?!!
After losing like that, don't you feel like just destroying your hotel room?
Lololol

Rodriguez is so stylish
Very instructive game! I'm happy that I spotted Rxa2 as an idea while watching (though I also didn't know if it was good or not)
I would have liked to see the follow up steps after queen checks king.
1:00 nice beard fade.

"Oh no my Queen", and this time He really meant it. Moral of the story boys and girls - dont tempt fate.
Absolutely heart breaking 😭
Opponent’s pawn on g2 was hanging for quite a bit after 7:00
I dunno if that’s a good play but didn’t see it mentioned
Thanks Eric!
Tough decision to sac a rook for a pawn. Your opponent played well too. Good game.
Do you edit your videos yourself? They're so good lately! Love this format.
Very nice game as well, that was impressive.
Important to say that Arencibia was YOUTH World Champion only!
Eric, next time you have to wear a shirt: "OH NO MY ROOK". Very interesting game though. Sometimes you have to follow your instincts.
1:00 Guy behind is not happy
Next time... no thought! NO MERCY!
You had to sacrifice THE ROOK!!!!

There would be Qd8 even without the Bishop

Would be nice to see how the attack plays out further after the Rook sac.
Dude is that music from manic mansion 2? Day of the tentacle?😮
17:20 I am sorry I dont see what Qe2 does in this position it looks a bit scary but to me it seems white has enough defenders and the king can just run?
Looks like Qe2 followed by Rc8+ lets you pick up the pawn with check and everything falls apart for black after that
Qe3 would have protected the knight

That defense was ridiculous
That was a tough one to lose. I'm sorry about that one.
From the thumbnail I thought you were playing Gilbert Godfrey
I'm sorry Eric, hate to see you lose like that. Hope the next round went better!!
Good choice of shirt for the topic.
Aw man, when you are so deep into the sauce that the simple things get overlooked. That was really unfortunate.
between this and chessbrah, i'm really getting sold on the taimanov.
That ending was sad to see. You both played well.
Can you share the prep for your Taimanov opening? Can you transition to that from pin variation?
It's almost like he got you to do a bad premove because you were low on time
Unfortunately, Eric, your opponent won the fashion match today.
The blazer is meant to strategically distract his opponent, and it worked!
Great game! So close!
Press the right button then press the middle buttons
Mr Rodriguez, never play an opening Mr. Rosen knows well! Eric, trust your instincts, mate; just go for it :)
Sometimes I feel like the DGT clocks were designed back when people still communicated by Morse code.
great game!
Woke up to new Rosen video = day made
TBH, I can't fathom blitz with touch-move. Didn't know there was such a thing.
Is this a paper board?
That's too bad. You'll get em next time
As a mere spectator, I would love to see Eric play more aggressive and risky chess, rather than slowly getting outplayed.

How could you have mated him after the rook sac?
Same question in exam which was already prepared 😅
this is what happens when you let kids play in tournaments. they WILL hack your clock, and render it inoperable, pending a hard reset
Oh no my Queen! Botez Gambit
Oh no, your Queen!😢
Should you have tried to keep at least one pawn rather than giving both away?
Eric needs to start wearing blazer jackets like that in tournaments!!!!
Oh, no, my queen!
That arbiter has a sick beard
Chess clock gambit
Do you have only one shirt my friend or is this all one single day
It is a fantastic shirt and I do mean that but it is only one shirt this whole series thus far lol
Why isnt this video titled "Oh no, my queeen :( "?
The title made me think that you may have been Kramniks latest victim of cheating accusation.😂
Why was the pawn on G2 off-limits?
Probably taking would mean opening the g file for White's rook facilitating an attack on Black's king.
@@labestianegra6373 thank you!
10:28 Rxa2 is the best ... Qa7 equal
Botez Gambit.
Hyper aggressive Eric would've won this game going on intuitive rook sack on a2
Chess clocks are so terrible with their weird button commands, trying to have lots of functionality but only three buttons to input everything.
that arbitrater beard fade
Time gambit. Somebody call a horologist.
Wait... _I_ was 18 in 1986. I'm not as old as Rodriguez, right? RIGHT? 😭
