  • Hey guys FatBuddyCat here! Today I'm going to show you how to restore an old gasket surface to achieve the best possible seal when installing a used performance head. This method can also be used for milling when your out hunting for compression.
    Big THANKS to the awesome folks over in the Gx200/Predator/Clone Modifiers Facebook Group! I appreciate all the patience and help figuring this stuff out. Your tips, tricks and wisdom are being put to good use. Hopefully these videos will help others out there trying to achieve their own small engine dreams!

      @@fatbuddycat Sounds like fun! I need to build another engine. I have some work I need to do on the diesel Samurai but the minibikes are more fun.

      @DIY Willy I really wanted to try this so I'd be better prepared to try milling a head someday.

      @@fatbuddycat I like the use of the blue sharpie. I will be doing this to the block and head of the Briggs just to sure they're stiff flat and Ill try the sharpie trick. .

      @DIY Willy perfect application for restoration work. I got some pretty good scratches out. I was impressed the Wd40 worked so well. Night and day.

      Welcome aboard! Sometimes I do full informative videos and other times I do edits and short ride videos. It's all about building better mini bikes. I try not to swear or get upset just as much as I try my best to show everyone what can and will happen when working on these things.

    If you look close you'll notice It's actually lifting the edge as you change direction. It's best to push it straight 3 or 4 strokes, rotate it quarter turn, push it, rotate, etc. WD40 does lubricate some but it's mainly so you can easily remove the aluminum from your sand paper with a towel keeping it from getting clogged up.

      It wasn't easy to get on video....that took a few tries as is! I totally agree.

      Absolutely! I'm always munching on something when I'm working away on my projects. I spend hours on my bikes instead of watching TV or going out places at night, gotta have a snack to tie ya over!! 😆

      Lol it worked great! This one was like $20 on Amazon. For what it cost to drive into down and deal with the glass company....totally a bargain! 6mm thick tempered glass on a scale rated for 400 whoppers...lol AND you saw those sweet triple A's I took down in the process!

    When I wanted to clean my head surface off and get all that crud and gasket material off and make it look shiney and new I used my angle grinder with one of those paint removal disks on it. It made it look new but i was worried it might also cause an uneven surface if i applied too much pressure so i just barely applied any pressure at all. Basically just let it rest on the surface as i moved it around from side to side.

      Very nice! I know the flapper disc very well these days. Just gotta be super careful with aluminum....😬

    Did you have any problem using the old style champion rockers in that Honda head. I am having trouble with them. I’ve tried them in a gx160 head and a 14cc clone head from omb.

    • @fatbuddycat
      @fatbuddycat  ปีที่แล้ว

      No problems at all. I have the new style rockers too and they have all threaded in at the stud. There are so many different castings out there now. Is it a new Honda?
