People, do you remember what happened few days after the bombing of NS? The Russian said that they some technical problems with providing gas to Italy. Remember that? Only few people understood that it was message. A message, that "we do not need to blow up our pipelines. All we need is to say we have technical problems and thats it." It was a message to the whole world that the Russian did not do it. The US and Norway did.
Exactly. Russia did the same with NS too - technical problems and no gas. That was simple and flexible solution to a problem with a wide range of possibilities. The United States blew up the pipeline to forever cut off Europe from cheap gas and ruin European industry.
"Technical problems" is not a sufficient excuse for removing liability in most commercial contracts. Gazprom tried that with a "faulty" compressor a few weeks earlier. They claimed that the compressor could not be repaired in Russia and that it would have to be shipped to Germany or Canada. To do this sanctions would have to be lifted. Siemens rejected Gazprom's information and stated that the faulty compressor could be repaired in Russia during routine maintenance and, that there was redundancy in the gas compression system.

"In a press conference held just days after the explosion, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken described the sabotage as a "tremendous [strategic] opportunity" for the US. His remarks were echoed earlier this year by Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, who said during a Senate hearing that "I am, and I think the administration is, very gratified to know that Nord Stream 2 is now... a hunk of metal at the bottom of the sea." US exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Europe increased 137% in the first 11 months of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021, meaning that the US now supplies more than half of Europe's LNG. Isn't that a wonderful coincidence?
That still doesn't mean it was done by the US. It doesn't have to destroy a gas pipeline connecting Russia to Germany. The US can use its sanctions power and other forms of economic warfare to achieve the same results. Germany is also a US ally protected by America. The US doesn't attack other NATO states.
@@irvinmcb Attacking and intentionally destroying the pipeline was an act of war and *NOT* friendly fire. Are you referring to a Turkish fighter jet involved in the Syrian civil war and the Kurds? I'm not sure what airplane that was down, or why you're thinking it would trigger a military conflict between two countries with a mutual-defense treaty. @@kreteraketeBullshit. The pipeline was already turned off. And will be turned off. EU considers Russia officially an enemy, dictatorship, war criminal terrorist state.
I'm about halfway through this documentary, and this is a bit confusing to me for a number of reasons: 1) Why on earth would Russia blow up it's own infrastructure? And one that is strategically and financially important no less. Why is this even a theory? 2) Putin mentioned in an interview recently that whoever blew up the pipeline would certainly have to be someone of considerable capabilities and resources. 3) To blow up the joint infrastructure of two major powers is not something anyone without balls of steel and the right backing can do. That is something that could be considered an act of war. Do you really think the governments of Poland, Ukraine, or some other minor powers would make such a risky move?
@DW Documentary You failed to consider the testimony by the Ex Navy Seal Team Leader who was reported by TVP World. He stated that the job was impossible to perform from a sailboat. The job would be ideally performed from a submarine. That would also not be visible from a satellite. From looking at the photos of the damaged pipelines it was blown up with shaped charges. The submarine escape trunk would fit the charges and divers (2). It would also serve as a decompression chamber when the job was finished. It would be at depth and at the location requiring little time for the dive limiting the required decompression. The submarine would have equipment to locate the pipelines, and could relocate without anyone being aware on the surface. This was needed for the various locations needed. This was clearly a well planned military operation.
Maybe Ukraine has a nuclear sub and trained Navy Seals no one knows about. Maybe they watched a movie about US Navy Seals and just copied what they did. And rented an old Russian sub.

There are a few major inconsistencies. The calculation expert said that 50kg of explosives should be enough to cause a leak in the pipes. I agree on that possibility, but there are 2 extra circumstances, which had to be reproduced. The pipes have been deformed enormously, and additionally an earthquake of 2 had been recorded at a fair distance from the explosions. You can adjust the power and location of explosion until everything is reproduced correctly. Recently a baltic pipe was damaged causing a leak, but no earthquake was recorded. So the leak itself and release of internal pressure would not result in an earthquake. An earthquake is clearly an indication of a massive explosion. The calculations should be interpreted as 50kg or more, very much more. Given the other two circumstances, even 500kg might not be enough. Collecting, transporting and placing tons of explosives is another cup of tea. There are more flaws, however. The investigators "conveniently" forgot that a few years prior to the attack Russians found an American underwater drone laying on a pipe very close to the future explosion site. This "convenient" loss of memory is meant to carry you away from "inconvenient" conclusions. Not to mention that president Biden said openly to the press that US would "stop" the North stream. Let us review the consequences. Did Russia lose from this attack? To a certain extent, because Russia invested not only into the pipes, but also into the infrastructure. But the damage is not massive, because Russia has increased production of LNG. This also required investments, so you can also consider it as a loss. For the people who still accuse Russia of a possible foot-shooting there is a simple answer. When sabotage of the pipes occurred, there was a massive leakage of gas you could all see. The amount of leaked gas corresponds to annual consumption of gas by Denmark. So those who accuse Russia would literally accuse her of throwing money into the air. Did Germany lose from the attack? Clearly, because Germany also invested into that project and lost access to the cheap Russian gas. As a result Germany is in recession. Did US win? Absolutely, US is the winner here, because they are able to sell American gas for at least 3-4 times higher price to Germany. While Russia was present on the gas market, US had no chance. US was always (!) against the North stream and did everything to impede construction of the pipeline. Russian LNG is reaching Europe, which affects the gas prices, so US is now trying to impede production and delivery of Russian LNG. Did Ukraine win? Barely, because Russia is able to deliver gas to remaining European customers through Turkey. Also, the increased production of Russian LNG makes Ukrainian pipelines irrelevant. As a result of the attack, Russia is turning to the East and South. So Ukraine is losing its logistical appeal and a substantial amount of income. It appears that US is the only winner here, and Biden did not tell a lie for once.
Saya setuju dengan anda. Sudah menjadi rahasia umum amerika yang meledakan pipa tersebut, karena mereka ingin memonopoli gas di eropa dan menghambat rusia serta membuat negara eropa tidak bergantung pada gas rusia lagi.

Well I don't know who didn't it so we don't 'all' know. Would you care to enlightne us on who you think did it? Given the need for quite long dives, I'd have thought it was quite obvious from AIS ship data if anyone hung around over the bombed locations at the right times. This report could have been a lot more detailed about ship movements. Obviously relatively small yachts may not have AIS, or have it turned on, in which case we don't know exactly where they've been.
This program is embarrassing. Did the German investigators ever pose the question would it be possible that U Navy divers in concert with other US agencies and the Norwegian could have carried out such an attack?
A Russian who turned out to be a spy bought equipment to determine thickness of gas pipes for $100K from a Norwegian company a couple of months before the pipelines blew up. Explain that.
There are multiple statements made by US Elected/Appointed Officials declaring intent. How about starting there? Seymour Hersh did an excellent investigative report.
At least from the perspective of an ignorant and layman, I'd say that yacht and that crew were used specifically to create this noise and suspicion. If those were really the culprits, we would never know.
A major investigative collaboration between 4 Nordic countries ( DR, NRK, SVT and Yle) called "Cold Front" seems to think otherwise. I wish you had addressed their claims here too.
They did not make any claims, they've put unconnected details about Russian intelligence gathering to make it seem like they're the likely culprit. Even tho, their own reporting was based on offensive intelligence gathering made by their own countries. It's funny how they never questioned how these agencies had gathered the intelligence on Russia? While spinning a narrative that Russian intelligence gathering were unique and extraordinary in its scope. They never addressed how espionage were connected to the nordstream attacks, it is solely based on mistrust and theory crafting.
Wait another 50 years, they will disclose it themselves. Everyone know who is the culprit sometime the answer is right infront of our eyes but we ignore them.
This is so insulting, so offensive to people. I would really support to anybody who demands those mainstream media for spreading lies and misinformation (but they're to powerful to common people).
In retrospect, we may come back to this video is 5 years to realise that THIS was one of the biggest economic warfare action ever performed against a country without being at war with that country. Also for who benefited from this? I'll let you guess who sells gas now at an absurd price...

It's strange how the Germans didn't find who blew up the pipe under their noses, but they know exactly what happened to Navalny thousands of kilometers from Germany. 🤣
What I don’t understand is why not use the fourth pipe that was not blown up given that only two pipes were in use that means half of the previous capacity is still available.
Nordstream II had not finished commissioning at the time. And once the invasion happened that commissioning got put on indefinite hold. It is presumably still technically and physically possible for Russia and Germany to agree to start using it, but that seems very unlikely to ever happen (certainly not till Putin is gone). The pipeline was only ever a good idea if you believed that Russia was going to become a normal trading country given suitable opportunities. Once they revealed themselves to be a crazy autocracy with invading tendencies the deal (and pipeline) became null and void anyway.
Because someone should buy US LNG for the exorbitant price. And because crisis of overproduction is no joke, US corporations do not want German industry to be competitive.
@@ImperativeGames it is immoral to buy a cheap Russian gas (and other resources) because Russia exploits its population in near slavery conditions. "US was very concerned of the Pipeline, because it 'stranglehold' of the Ukraine"!? So much for the Western understanding of free trade - the free flow of people, goods and services. I think US fells this pipeline as a stranglehold of the US' monopoly of supplying West Europe with it's energy. I remember how president Trump was taught in ordering president of Serbia to "diversify Serbia's gas and oil supply", which means order to include US' oil and gas supplies of Serbia's energy market.
Did you not see the part where they said they used an actor's voice? Do you think that maybe they didn't play the full conversation (or worse)? What about a scenario where the caller provides full detailed information and description of the yacht to the person on the phone... and then snipping a short clip from the conversation where "he" mentions it, to make you think that the "he" knew all the details of the boat... Or how about we take the irresponsible reporting of DW a little further... how about they summarized, misrepresented or made up the clip that they played? It wasn't the original recording that they played after all. Here's an example: If you were called about being a suspect of a stolen car for instance - would you go into detail about the colour, model and condition of the car you hadn't stolen? Would you even remember the car you hadn't stolen? Seems like DW doing a "who framed Roger Rabbit" to me.
I am sure that the major governments (their key people) know the answer but it is kept as mystery for general public, as there are understandings between them - you release info we release info, and the history is deep, which if opened will bring chaos to the world. Other than that - my understanding is that was "West" itself, given the blessing by the supreme commander USA, thus their involvement, though no direct.
A small submarine would be the likely method of blowing up the pipelines, possibly not requiring free divers? Actually, Nordstream pipelines made Germany more energy-independent from international oil and gas reserves.

It was a message to the whole world that the Russian did not do it. The US and Norway did.
Seymour Hersch

I'm about halfway through this documentary, and this is a bit confusing to me for a number of reasons:
1) Why on earth would Russia blow up it's own infrastructure?

If Russia has been a democratic state carrying for its people, its resources would have cost close to US ones. And the same is true for other resource rich states that are in majority authoritarian dictatorships with poor, almost slave, population.
Looks like the saboteurs screwed up. One of the Nord Streem 2 pipelines were blown up twice. At the second location they put the explosives at the wrong pipeline leaving one of them intact.
@@ImperativeGames The US has no interest in selling Gas to Europe that is needed in the US but currently we have no choice but to help out Europe until they can get alternative suppliers in place.
US did it. Everyone outside of Europe knows it, Europeans know it but they dont dare to say.
I also think that it was a submarine, the only thing I find strange is that it was 17 hours between the first and second explosion, the sailboat could be a cover up for the operation.
The US needs all of its gas itself. It is simply forced to supply Europe for the time being.
Please learn how the world commodity markets work before making such an ignorant comment.
@@Uncommonsensetoosimpl😢forced ? lol what country put sanctions on Russian gas ? Bop bop the US

How is it possible for people board a yacht in Germany, cross a couple of borders, and Germans don’t know who was on the yacht?
fake id?
There are no hard borders or border control between Schengen countries.
DW should do a video on the assassination of JFK, the disappearance of Amelia Earhart, and the existence of Sasquatch.
well, they would come to the conclusion that Sasquatch is actually Amelia, and in his disguise killed JFK. That's the level of the program here. lol
the media becomes more and more unethical.
If he wasn’t involved, how come he seemed to know the size of the boat & the weight?
When i hear "this is the biggest mystery of our times" i feel like throwing up.
Russian would never commit economic suicide. Neither germans.its is the Job of Russian and German enemies. What we see here is beating about the bushes.
stop trying to gaslight us, you insult our intelligence.
Who insured the pipelines? What do the insurers say? Who is going to pay for this damage?
Allianz, ZUrich and other big insurance companies.
Good thinking. "Follow the money".
Nord Stream is seeking more than 400 million euros ($427 million) from its insurers over the explosions which ruptured pipelines designed to transport Russian gas to Germany. It named Lloyd's Insurance Co. and Arch Insurance (EU) DAC as defendants in the suit.Apr 18, 2024
First of all, I should have knew what I was going to hear when the channel that uploaded this was DW.
It's a mystery... wrapped in a riddle inside of an enigma.
