Hello Mr. Nate lol My Chester Cheetah V1 is still better than than the TMO Gateway using the same outdoor Waveform 4x4 Panel. Because I get over 500-600 mbps down and 45-60 mbps upload. But now I don't have to worry about using over 50GB on the tablet plan. I have a 65 foot tower and the tower is about 120 feet from the house. Although, I do have a workshop next to the tower. I will not able to avoid a long cable. Should I place my modem in the work shop and then have a long cable to to house?
Unless you absolutely need to be at the top of the tower putting the antenna lower with a shorter cable might actually get you better speed. I would put the modem as close as possible. Its easy to get ethernet or wifi from building to building with zero loss in speed. See th-cam.com/video/34NZwJh4N84/w-d-xo.html
Hey Nate... Excellent work here. Because of my location and trees, I will probably need to go up my mast at least 15 feet before entering the house.. House is approx. 65 feet long. So, I'll (probably need around 45 to 50 feet of cable to get the gateway in a central location. 4,800 sq. ft on two levels. So the question is: Have you done any actual testing with the HQ low-loss cabling.?? I know the "specs" say it's better loss numbers, but what is the actual effect at the gateway.?? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Nate.
I have their older cable which is a higher grade one and will do a back to back test soon. What I've done at my house to limit the length of antenna cable is actually placing the gateway up on the 3rd floor loft and then running ethernet all the way down to the basement (th-cam.com/video/ifRkJb_ejXY/w-d-xo.html) where it then gets distributed via more ethernet to all my wireless access points (AP) for my mesh network on my property (th-cam.com/video/34NZwJh4N84/w-d-xo.html). I high encourage folks to NOT run long antenna cables especially just so they can place the gateway in a central location. It is much more effective to use ethernet or wifi to get the coverage in your house. Antenna loss in cabling is real and will show up in your results.
Nater I contacted waveform and asked them if they could create an RV wire similar to the window wire that can be placed through the slide out seals and would be longer and more flexible than the stiff extension cables they offer. Maybe you could suggest this on behalf of the RV community. Thanks
Ive purchased the mini, as im close to the tower, and want an antenna be able to move to a better indoor location. Mostly, this has increased 10-20% indoor, upload, sinr and rsrp are more stable, and keeps from dropping to n71. Speeds on download max to the tower are more tied to placement, and time.of day. Tower won't go beyond 700Mbps/140Mbps (site limit). Typical results at 1200' (partial obstruction) is 500-700Mbps, upload is 45-60Mbps.
Which providers offers the same wifi box tmobile offers?? Because in the town I live tmobile is not doing it for me at all I need a different provider that offers the same box but that actually has a tower in my town.
@@NaterTater Yea I did love my tmobile Internet back when I lived in Nyc but I moved out of state and tmobile Internet just got straight horrible can only watch my videos at 480p and it sometimes buffers even at 480p at this point it's insane I believe they just don't cover my area
@@NaterTater I checked both Verizon and At and T and they don't cover my area apparently do you know any other provider that offers this wireless wifi thing?? Because I prefer that box than having a land line
@jorelb.acosta2121 those are the main providers. I would reach out to Alfredo at chestertechrepairs.com based in NJ and he can get you setup with a custom 5g router and SIM that works at your address. Mention NaterTater for a discount.
Is it possible for you to test the Chester Trident, mounting it outside right behind the antenna? Due to its design you can minimize the coax length to a mere 2-3 feet, was curious what your results would be since I had ordered the trident my self, replacing the 30ft kit that comes with the old gen waveform 4x4 panel, thereby enabling me to hook onto N41 reliably, whereas before I would barely connect to it at my location
Previously I had used my Chester Cheetah V2 with 30+5 Feet of coax using kit plus extensions to test for T-mobile at my house. I am a truck driver so the Cheetah was for my Truck
Really enjoy your videos but have questions. I will be moving to a location that practically has no cell service. I can sporadically pick up an ATT signal in the yard but certainly nothing in the house. I can go up the hill a little ways and start to get reception. I'm hoping the Waveform will resolve this issue. My question is: 1) Will these antennas pick up signal from any wireless carrier? If not, then how does it know which signal to pick up from a specific carrier? 2) As mentioned, I currently have ATT as my carrier and would like to keep that. However, I'm thinking about going with T-Mobile for internet and using something like either the Cheetah or Netbuddy for my router. How would it work having ATT as my cell carrier and T-Mobile for my internet? Just trying to get understanding on how this setup would work. Thanks!
@benjustice492 if you can get a signal up on the roof or someplace you can put the waveform then you'll be good. It works with all carriers. Most phones effectively work just fine with no cellular and just wifi so in a way your tmo internet will help your att phone work inside the house through the wifi.
Recently i believe Tmobile did some updates locally. Im subscribed to tmobile home intenet, not business. Signal and sinr are generally poor to good. Used to get avg. of 40 down and 30 up with bands N71 nad b12. Now get 90 down and 2 up with n41 and b2. Would i be better to first invest in antenna or chester cheetah gateway to be able to be band selective and also maybe get better reception as opposed to the aradyn kvd21 i currently have? Not as concerned with download speeds as reducing ping and getting upload speeds back up. Enjoy your channel. Thanks
Its an annoying feature of n41, weak signal means terrible upload even if download is fast. N71 is much better for upload in that case as you noticed. The way I would decide on a Cheetah vs 4x4 antenna is I would run an extension cord and put your gateway on the roof/attic where you would install an antenna. If that gives you the performance you want than get the antenna. Otherwise a Cheetah can lock you onto n71 and do multiple carrier aggregation.
Quick question. Did you bother with the inline surge protectors that waveform offers? I know grounding the pole is a necessity, but I'm curious if you think it's worth it to additionally get the surge protectors? If so, which do you suggest for the quad pro? And as a side question - how much signal degradation have you noticed per 10ft, 20ft of cable added (if you've tested for that?) Getting it where it needs to go is the most important, of course, but I'm still curious.
I don't use the surge protectors, if you get a lot of cloud to ground lightening maybe consider it but for me in SE MI we don't get that many strong lightening storms and when we do its typically cloud to cloud lightening. Nothing like the intense summer storms I had growing up down south. This video effectively shows the signal degradation going from 3ft to 13ft to 33ft of cable length and I do a specific test with the antenna in the same spot but with 13ft (10+3) and 33ft (20+10+3) of cabling. Data is in the chart.
@NaterTater oh awesome! I'd only gotten to the overview at the start so far, will watch in full. We probably won't bother with the surge protectors then. We don't get a lot of lightning storms, although it is windy here. I was thinking it would be fine but I'm glad to hear your experience confirms that. 👍 Thank you for the reply! I am waiting to get a G4AR or G4SE still, a local store is willing to exchange with me, but they quickly go out of stock so I may have to call very regularly. I know that trying to get the new modem online would be a bit of luck of the draw, so I'm biding my time. Just purchased the waveform quadpro with your code
@NaterTater Data on cable length is interesting. Will try to keep it as short as possible but favour aiming it the right way. I ordered two 20 ft cables and a 10 ft so hopefully all we need is the 10 ft. We will see! We get about 120-140 down, 50-70 up when the internet is running well on stock, so I'm excited to see our results. Even with a big wall between us and the outside here in the country
Are you using the cheetah RM520N-GL SDX62 v1 for testing? If not which one? If using my own current Wi-Fi 6 mesh system is there any need for v2? Thanks for your replies
I have both a x62 v1 and x65 v2. All the data shown in this video is with the G4AR. For you probably a v1 is fine, you can still get a x65 modem in it. You'll only have 1 SIM slot, 1GE, and lower grade wifi but might not be an issue.
So i already have the original mimo 4x4. 2 questions do you think it is a worthwhile upgrade to the quad pro for my main bands being b66 - n41 - n71 And second how bad of a hit do you think it would being running my black cable with adapters vs the new cable? My current cable is already routed through my wall. Also thanks for making my decision for the original waveform and the cheetah v2 both much easier.
I have the Chetah version 1 and just purchased waveform Quad pro for tm home internet I remember a previous video where you changed antenna ports around. Can you please send a link to that video.

I'd love to see 3-400 download since I have line of site, but the best I've ever hit was around 220 late at night or early morning. I'm guessing it's because of congestion, even though I'm fairly rural. No 5G stand alone for home internet on that tower that I've seen. I'm on n41 and B2 My iPhone can hit high 300's on cellular outside in the same place and shows 5Guc so it probably has higher priority maybe?
Any suggestions for those of us with a crappy signal at work and can't mount any external antenna's? Signal outside is fantastic, but as soon as you go in the building it's worthless. Company won't install booster or anything, even if we(the employees) pay for it. Most of us have AT&T.
Does suction cup on the outside of a window work? Or also not allowed? If its a commercial building or has metal siding/structure it can severely hurt signal inside.
@@NaterTater I would do the window thing without asking, but the windows don't open, so I can't do anything there either. Yes, it's definitely a lot of metal.
yes indeed. And that's why even though I am only 1 mile away I don't get the the best upload unless I really get a big 4x4 outside and high. btw, its a drone....can't afford the copter shots (yet).
I'm roughly 8.3, 5.2, and 6.7 miles away from the towers near me. No line of sight to either of the 3 towers. What do you recommend? I have the new T-Mobile gateway with the antenna ports.
Context: I'm averaging 30 Mbps down and not even 1 Mbps up. I live in South Louisiana and I do connect to B2 and N71. If I take the gateway close to the tower, I get 300-500 down and 70+ up.
@@NaterTater thank you for such a speedy response! Should I buy a mast to set it up on? Or maybe a 42" antenna pole and set it on the peak of the roof?
Are there any restrictions on where the indoor unit sets and the external antenna is pointing? Just thinking about cell phone boosters for the home and you can get oscillation if the antennas are not far enough apart or the indoor antenna is pointed at the external antenna.
this does not have a restriction like a cell booster does of the antenna vs the indoor transmitter. However antenna placement matters, you want it where ever it gets the best signal.
@@NaterTater thank you. Been doing the T-Mobile 3 month test drive and I get 5G UC on and off. Outside can get DL over 400MB and UL up to 60MB on my phone. Inside DL can get up to 70MB DL and 15MB UL on my phone. Home internet not available yet but does look promising. Will only switch if I can get both cellular and home internet together. Thanks again.
Will this boost latency for competitive gaming? I have my Xbox hooked to a Ethernet cable an managed to get my latency 90ms how much Lower could I possibly expect it go? I live in suburban area where we have 5g ultra best it can be around the area.
@alvingacho719 cell tower to this antenna? All depends on several factors. Best case with direct RF line of sight the whole way is probably 10 miles (16km).
question i was gonna upgrade my quadmini to the quadpro, I was wondering should i get the quad pro or there other 4x4 mimo panel antenna which is there older version.
Not really. You can use two 2x2 MIMO antennas to make a 4x4 but you can't use two 4x4 and place them in different spots to somehow double up on signal.
i have the little Verizon internet cube is there a antenna i can use to get better lte 4 g signal, Verizon told me that the serves is not in my area ?? after a few minutes of going back and forth they agreed to send it to me, it works at 250 or so down but the signal is at around 3 of 4 bars
@NaterTater invisigig came out with an enclosure/outdoor antenna that they call the quadlink antenna. I was wondering if you have done any testing with this. I think it has the possibility to put up some really high speed numbers, as there is almost no cable length between the antenna and the invisigig
@sawekb8102 the answer to that question is no but thats a technicality. For MIMO to work both the tower and the modem need to support it and have an antenna array that supports it as well. AFAIK all US towers have it and most modems are going to support it, especially ones with 4 external antenna ports. Thus hooking up one of these 4x4 antennas will get you 4x4 MIMO. However you could hook up just a 2x2 MIMO antenna or even a mono and it will still work but at a (much) slower speed.
@@NaterTater i'm asking because currently i have 2x2 mimo external antena and I considered switching to 4x4 but I tested speeds on 4x4 with usual router antenas with Direct view to BTS and in my case I had no increase in speeds. Reception was better but upload event worse. I think that i have to stay on 2x2 because over 1km from bts is too far for mimo 4x4

I just purchased a waveform quadmini antenna and a modified black arcadia gateway. Now all that I can get is 4g whereas on the unmodified arcadia router without the waveform antenna always got 5g and good download speeds but next to no upload speeds. Now since I can only get 4g band B71 I'm very limited on download speeds and my upload speed is about double what it was before but we are still talking 3mb or less. Any suggestions? I can only hope that the modified arcadia router isn't the issue. I live about 3 miles away from the t-mobile tower with the 5g signal. I"m not sure where the tower is where the 4g signal is coming from if it isn't the same tower. I'm on the very outskirts of signal range according to the t-mobile coverage map. Any suggestions would be super helpful.
@@NaterTater yes the KVD21. The seller had labeled the wires coming out of the device as M, M1 M2, and D. He gave a picture that said that M goes to Connector 1, and M1 goes to connector 2, and M2 goes to 3 and D goes to 4. Thanks for replying back. That's quicker than waveform email support.
Also on my unmodified KVD21 the 4g band I pick up is B66 but on the modified KVD21 with the quadmini I pick up 4g band B71. As for 5g on the unmodified gateway I pick up band N41.
The best speed I got with T-Mobile home internet was when I gave it back to T-Mobile and got AT&T fiber. T-Mobile is horrible has a cell phone company and even worse for home internet.
T-Mobile needs to provide a fiber cable service. That is the future. 5G Internet is still too weak on signal. and upload speed is too slow for content creators. Fiber offers at least 1Gb/s upload and download speed. That is more than 100 times faster than cable such as Spectrum.

Hey! Love the video. I have a request. Could you show how to connect the grey Verizon box to the waveform antenna. Thank you!
@joevaldez764 yes I can do that teardown
Nater I contacted waveform and asked them if they could create an RV wire similar to the window wire that can be placed through the slide out seals and would be longer and more flexible than the stiff extension cables they offer. Maybe you could suggest this on behalf of the RV community. Thanks
Good idea!
Typical results at 1200' (partial obstruction) is 500-700Mbps, upload is 45-60Mbps.
thats good!
Which providers offers the same wifi box tmobile offers?? Because in the town I live tmobile is not doing it for me at all I need a different provider that offers the same box but that actually has a tower in my town.
I dont think any have the exact same box. Many share the same modem chipset though. Check verizon 5g home and at&t internet air.
I can look into that!
Cool introduction!
thanks, trying to keep viewers entertained!
@@NaterTater Awesome! Thank you so much for your reply!
My tmobile home internet is pretty good
Recently i believe Tmobile did some updates locally.
@awesomekip311 very good!
@@awesomekip311 sounds good. Let us know how it goes!
I’m in a country setting 3 miles from an antenna. T-Mobile gateway. Can I expect a decent improvement from this distance with a quad pro?
Yes
Are you using the cheetah RM520N-GL SDX62 v1 for testing? If not which one? If using my own current Wi-Fi 6 mesh system is there any need for v2?
Thanks for your replies
I have both a x62 v1 and x65 v2. All the data shown in this video is with the G4AR. For you probably a v1 is fine, you can still get a x65 modem in it. You'll only have 1 SIM slot, 1GE, and lower grade wifi but might not be an issue.
So i already have the original mimo 4x4.
2 questions do you think it is a worthwhile upgrade to the quad pro for my main bands being b66 - n41 - n71
And second how bad of a hit do you think it would being running my black cable with adapters vs the new cable?
My current cable is already routed through my wall.
Also thanks for making my decision for the original waveform and the cheetah v2 both much easier.
1. No. 2. The older cable is actually lower loss, the new one is more flexible.
@@NaterTater thank you for the quick response. I will stick with what I have.

I'd love to see 3-400 download since I have line of site, but the best I've ever hit was around 220 late at night or early morning. I'm guessing it's because of congestion, even though I'm fairly rural. No 5G stand alone for home internet on that tower that I've seen. I'm on n41 and B2
My iPhone can hit high 300's on cellular outside in the same place and shows 5Guc so it probably has higher priority maybe?
Yes could be. You'll notice just download speed decrease during congestion.
Great report…👍
thanks!
Great video!
Glad you liked it!
Does this quad get better than the previous (older one) one as far as speed and dbi?
it should be similar
At about 7:00 in the video you mention an app for taking metrics... which app are you referring to? Thanks
I am speaking of the tmobile home internet app (or HINT app as an alternative) to get the signal metrics like RSSI, RSRP, RSRQ and SINR
Looking at your house from the copter shots….it kinda looks like you have a certain amount of treetops to look through ??? (True???)

@thatunknownguy2680 depends in your terrain but roof should be OK
How do you know if it catches mimo 4x4 not only mimo 2x2?
The same question witch QUAM 256?
If its a 4x4 antenna it will do 4x4 MIMO, all the US towers support it.
@@NaterTater ok so if a bts supports it you have to receive it?
