    Can you do a quick performance comparison of the quad mini to your 4x4 mimo antenna from waveform?
    I am currently only getting B2 (15-30mbps down, 10-15 up) inside my house and anywhere on the ground level outside, I can occasionally get very weak N41 or N71 to pop up, but it quickly disappears. In one spot near my chimney on the roof I can get B66 and N41 to connect, but only if I lay the G4SE modem flat on its back, otherwise it grabs that B2 again (even though its in the same spot as when laying on its back). The B66/N41 combo shoots speeds up to 450mbps down and 5-10 up, so its very worth perusing. I'm trying to figure out which antenna to go for.

    @NaterTater Thank you! Just subscribed to your channel after watching tons of your T-Mobile videos. I'm trying T-Mobile now for a month or so since I've been stuck for years paying $110 per month for 200/25 cable internet. Not sure if you've heard of it, but I have a Panorama Antennas DWMM4-6-60 4x4 which seems very similar to the Waveform one and I'm getting high 100's down and 12-25 up. So far it's been reliable. If it doesn't work out, then at least maybe when I call to cancel cable internet, their retention department will offer me the $50 new subscriber rate.

      @@NaterTater Yes, and coincidently, I found that my fastest speed was like you suggested with the Waveform with the middle two reversed. The Panorama antenna nice. It's probably in between the waveform quad pro and the mini at 14.6" X 8.7" but it has built-in 5 meter SMA cables. It has a +/- 45° hybrid layout, but I don't know what that means. Price is similar, around $299, but I was able to get it new in box for $75 which is why I got it instead of the Waveform.

    Really appreciate your work on this testing. My one comment would be that I am surprised at you standalone performance when you place a gateway near a window. In your prior testing of older gateways, you have shown performance from your office and your attic. At this time, I'm going to pass on the mini. At some point I will likely be able to swap out my two year old Arkadian for a gateway with the built in antenna connectors. At that point I might go with the directional Quad Pro because I have an application where I could use the flattened cable through a window.

      @@NaterTater I got my Quad Pro and installed it this week. Impressed with the results. The speedtest baseline before the swap, with best positioning of the Nokia 5G21, was at 20 mbps down and 1.5 mbps up. After the swap my best result was 261 mbps down and 20mbps up. I will say though that real world downloading was closer to 50 mbps down and I base this on downloading several 12 gig games from different gaming apps and they all hit this limit, I also ran downloads on two different apps at the same time and it's combined was 50 mbps, so it wasn't the sites limit. I also followed your RF line of sight video and found my original guess on aiming the antenna was off by 10 degrees but this adjustment didn't change the speedtest results much but did improve the sinr a few points. I'm overall really satisfied with the antenna and I opted for the full kit from Waveform and it was great, they included everything from the pigtails to the gable mounting pole. Thanks for the valuable information.

    I believe you mentioned you always had the best reception using the internal antenna on the 3rd floor loft. But if I am reading the chart correctly @16:28 you get 165 Mbps down using the original antenna on the 3rd floor, but 232 Mbps down on the 1st floor.

      @NaterTater  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes correct. It was odd I got that much faster download on the 1st floor. But that does happen sometimes and in this particularcase it could have been network deprioritization. However I always get very poor upload with the gateway on the 1st floor. Also if you look at the signal metrics table at the end of the video you can clearly see the 3rd floor has much better signal metrics than the 1st floor.

But whenever it switches to n41 I've gotten as high as 300 down and but only about four or five up. You mentioned the 10-ft cable suffers a loss and I was wondering do they have a 3-ft cable because that's all I would need? So do you know why it seemed to have a better download speed with the antenna suction cuped on the outside of the window versus the inside of the window?

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can contact waveform and see if they would make a custom length cable but in general 3 to 10ft is not going to make or break your speed. Might just want to use the 10ft. Outside placement will typically be better than inside.

    Just ordered the Quadmini. Right now I am getting descent download speeds, but having some latency issues. Out of all the data for the cellular metrics, the my LTE SINR is the one that is the worst: -15 at times. I am getting SINR of 40 for 5G. Both LTE and 5G are showing RSRQ of -11 and RSRP of -90. Hoping the antenna will help with the latency. Do you have any other tips or tricks? thanks

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The antenna should help, however the downside to the mini is its omnidirectional which means its worse at improving SINR since it picks up signal from all directions (a good and bad thing). So if it doesn't do what you need you might want to consider a directional antenna like the quadpro or LPDA's. With the QuadMini you can try leveraging your house to block unwanted signal from the direction opposite of the tower.

      @@NaterTater So i got the new T-mobile modem that allows you to hook up an external ant with the quad mini hooked up. However, my signal looks strogner, but I am still dealing with latency issues, download speed is lower than up load speed, and packet loss. Any ideas on how to fix this? This has just been an issue over the past 3 or so weeks. Thanks.

    I know this might sound like a dumb question but I currently have the original Waveform 4X4 Antenna and I've been thinking about trying the Waveform Quad Mini because it can be suction cupped to a Window but would I get better Speeds? I currently get almost 700 Download and around 15 Upload sometimes around 20 Upload and that's with the original Waveform 4X4 Antenna up in my Attic pointing out the Window. I can't really open the Window all the way because it's one of those older style Windows that have hinges on it and fold in or fold open and I'm not good with heights so I don't plan on getting up on the roof to try to put it physically out of the Window. Do you think the smaller Waveform Quad Mini would give me better Speeds if I suction cup it to the Outside of the Window? I would be able to fit the smaller Quad Mini through the Window on the Outside and suction cup it to the Outside of the Window but since it's a smaller Antenna I'm not so sure if it would work or be better. Like they say bigger is almost always better when it comes to Antenna's but do you think it would be worth a try and if not then just return it?

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi, you likely will get worse speed. The original/quadpro is a directional and larger antenna than the quadmini. If its an old window it is likely not low-e glass so signal can get through pretty good.

    • @JoshF151Tech
      @JoshF151Tech 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @NaterTater Oh ok I did order it so I'll try it and I might even try putting it directly Outside of the Window itself using the Suction Cups but if it doesn't help with Speeds or Reliability I'll just return it and keep the original QuadPro Antenna. I've heard some people have gotten better Speeds with the smaller QuadMini over the QuadPro mainly because you can Mount the QuadMini easier and in different places since it's smaller.

    I know that tmobile 5g home is not ideal for online gaming but it is my only option in my location. download speeds are fine. usually around 200-250 and upload around 12. Those go lower during high traffic times. My ping is the problem. Pretty inconsistent. Usually around 35-45ms for ookla speed test. I play valorant and I sit at 60ms average, 45 ms at very low traffic times. Restarting my gateway also seems to lower my ping down to that 40-45 range and will go back up after a bit. It also spikes pretty frequently. I would say probably 5 times per game it will spike to 300ms. Impossible to stream too. I have severe ping issues when streaming in discord to my friends. I even get ping spikes somtimes when my gf is watching netflix in the living room. This shouldnt happen as I have good download speed and okay upload. Would this be an effective way to get that ping down or is probably due to my location? I used to have xfinity and lived a couple miles away and got 20ms in valorant. I want to try to get it to around 30 ms while gaming. What is the best way to attempt to do this? Most of the external modem router combos I have seen are focused on improving speeds and I don't really care about that. I would be fine with 20 down as long as my ping was steady. Thanks in advance for the help.

      Which antennas? Mini to pro?

  • @Moonless6491
    @Moonless6491 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I tried the Pro and the Mini. Both performed poorly with reduced speeds and only slightly better metrics. I spent days crawling around everywhere aiming it in every direction except the sun. I tried, porches, windows, the ground.....the roof, everything. And, when I used the included 20ft cable, my signal dropped to 4g at the gateway. I'm really baffled. And the most confusing thing was that neither antenna would function when mounted above the roofline. The gateway consistently performed better on its own.

      Around the window, in the window, and different areas of my den. I live in a midrise condo and about a mile and a half from the tower. I get downloads between 400-500 and uploads around 50-80 so I guess I don't really need it. It’s a good antenna but just doesn’t help in my situation. Good video as always.

    Lot's of testing, but I get the impression it's all meaningless because internet service varies hour by hour and day by day. Unless you run multiple tests at the same time, you're just looking at the variability in the signal due to cell tower and atmospheric effects. The only clear difference is for outside tower and upload speed. But then, the second best upload speed is 1st floor inside window which avoids the hassle of installing a tower.

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is certainly a lot of variables to consider including what you mentioned but also what bands you are connected to. For these types of videos the testing is back to back within 1-2hrs to help eliminate the time/day issue.

    take off those LOSSY 90' adapters! Very lossy at the SHF frequencies used by LTE and 5G. 1GHZ - 5GHz. go look up the losses on coax and connectors. Also get rid of the LOSSY under-window coax. Those are VERY bad for the signal. Very impactful to the signal level. It is entirely possible to LOOSE all of the gains from the antenna via the poor connectors and coax!

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes every cable and connection has signal loss. Its a balance of installation ability, placement and cable loss. If you want to learn more about these specific components, their loss and the effects on speed see th-cam.com/video/aqLhtT4AdYs/w-d-xo.html
