Hi Nate. I have AT&T Air inside my metal shop building and have to get an outside antenna. I get 5-30 mbps inside and up to 300 outside. Have u tested this with AT&T? Thanks! Love your channel! Mark
Brother, I just want to thank you for your content. When starlink wouldn’t work here due to obstructions, and there being literally no landline broadband or fiber options available, I gave up. However… God pointed me to your channel a few days ago and for the first time in my life I’m seeing download speeds of 275 avg with spikes as high as nearly 400. Upload isn’t all that great, but I can fix that with a waveform which I also learned of thanks to you. Dude, I watched TH-cam vids at 4k earlier. Those who don’t understand just haven’t been in these shoes. Thank you, man, and God bless you and yours ❤
I don't own a Cadillac but I like to see one driven and put through the tests. Same deal here. Very informative video as usual. Right now I'm satisfied with my stock set-up and happy to report that my performance has improved significantly over the last two or three months which must be to tower upgrades.
I thought of you when I first saw this Elsys product. Glad to see that you got it going. For those of you that are less technical, Richard at the Wireless Haven will step you through all the changes that need to be made. Note: A T-Mobile business SIM requires no setting and works out of the box.
I can't tell you how appreciative that you test equipment like this. I'm excited to get my Amplimax. I spent over 2 weeks trying to get my Waveform 4x4 mini to work well, and it simply wouldn't. Instead of trying the upgrade, I'm skipping that and getting the beast lol
@@NaterTater so yeah, it’s absolutely perfect. I’ve gone from 130 down / 5 up on the Sagemcom to almost 500/35 down/up… and I didn’t even aim the antenna! The ping is in the 20’s vs 80-200 before, so it’s insanely responsive as well.
Got the AmpliMax Ultra a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier! Massive speed increase over the Cheetah V1 and Waveform 4X4 combo. I don't get the speeds that Nater does, but considering I'm on the extreme edge of the T-Mobile service area, I'll take 100-150 down all day long! Thanks for the SA/NSA AT commands sir. They might come in handy! :)
I’ve been waiting for this video! Awesome results. My amplimax arrived and I’m headed down to the cabin to install it next week. If I can 50 down / 5 up I’ll be thrilled. I’m not counting on it because the T-Mobile signal is so weak, but I’m mounting it at the peak of an a-frame. If it all goes well, I can cancel my att business unlimited, which is loaded with fees and threatens to disconnect the service if I get close to 25 GB in a month (for “abuse”). ATT has a great signal but they just cost a lot.
Well, I don't know what the deal is, but it sees tmobile and I've been on the hold with business support for about an hour. They're trying to figure out why it won't register onto the network. It says limited registration. SIM and IMEI information are all correct. I'm going to go through your videos again while on hold, but is there anything you could think of? The APN information?
@ChrisNormanTexas just reach out to Richard at the wirelesshaven and he can get you sorted. I assume you bought it from there. You might need a firmware upgrade. I def wouldn't trust the tmobile store to get it setup right.
These videos are great for learning about methods to improve signal strength. The problem for many of us is the severe deprioritization that T-Mobile imposes for hours a day at many locations. It's not that helpful to me that I can tweak everything and get 300 Mbps DL at 5 am when T-Mobile cuts me down to 4 Mbps from 4 to 10 pm.
@@NaterTater Is there information or evidence that 5G SA makes a difference in T-Mobile's deprioritization of a user's bandwidth? I have the Nokia trashcan, the WS1208V2 (RM520N) running ROOTer/GoldenOrb, and the Cheetah (RM521F) but haven't found much real-world difference between them when it comes to performance as long as I'm connecting on n41. If T-Mobile does alter its deprioritization based on SA/NSA or band, I'd love to know that and would experiment some more. I assumed they just throttle a user the same amount regardless of band or mode. Thanks.
Very informative and helpful. Thank you!! What about the special settings that I hear we need to plug in to maximize speeds with T-Mobile. Such as adjusting the MTU and MSS, etc. I did what you and WirelessHaven instructed but not near the connection speeds and I'm less than a quarter mile from the tower. My speed tests are like 150x25. Also, you should put a change link on your link list for a 50', outdoor certified, FLAT, cat8 cable. This way it can be ran thru a window instead of drilling holes.
First off thank you for the video, I know there are some challenges for folks where they choose to live in a ultra urban or the areas up and down terrain can be a challenge for cell signals to reach. I bumped into this video in my recommended algorithm and since I’m in the cellular industry I couldn’t pass it up. Not to cast any shade at the owner of this channel but it is best practice to have a current body harness on and tethered to one of the dedicated anchors in the man lifts basket. Even if you’re driving the unit to where you’re going to first set up, or if you have a big enough lift, to use the hydraulics while driving to extend out the lifts wheelbase for the working at heights above 60’. The rental company must supply the harness if they know that you that you don’t have your own. I’m not judging anyone as i was guilty of making the same mistake 20 years ago thinking I didn’t need any of my equipment on for a job that had the shortest poles to work on. Twenty years ago I started climbing cell towers but in the area I worked we had a lot of commercial rooftops as well and that meant we worked out of a man lift basket religiously. My first year I was driving a 120’ lift over to the first antenna sector location and I saw one of these oversized speed bumps and I thought or rather didn’t think that let’s drive over it with some speed instead of controlling it as usual. Well, I almost was literally bucked out of the lift, fortunately the CM on-site didn’t see it. That episode shook some sense into me and when later down the road when I was forced to go to climbing school I finally realized just how dangerous everything I was doing was wrong and I was constantly putting my life in harms way. 4 years later I became a CM and helped guys in the years since. Sorry for the OSHA rant… question on the equipment installed on your dedicated rooftop mast. Does any of your antennas installation callouts for minimum separation from other equipment? In theory you should see even better scores on all systems with a minimum of 2’ of vertical separation tip to tip and 5’ of horizontal separation and a clear line of site for optimal performance. I’ve had jobs where they have had some outside interference and we had to have a 3rd part come in and use specialty equipment to sniff out offenders. Some good examples are some idiot using a cell jammer looking for a crazy steep FCC fine, or a cable companies coax amp leaking RF, and my favorite a hotel rooms alarm clock oscillating and spewing RF junk frequencies out in the ether. The reason I mentioned this is the RF engineers I basically worked for demanded a 5’ separation unless physical constraints wouldn’t allow it. I personally was fed up with WIFI issues at my old house where everyone was on the same 2.4 GHz channels and challenged myself to fill all my issues. In my two story I ended up finding a spot on top of my kitchen cabinets which shared a wall with my garage. I mid-entered the incoming coax and installed a 12”x12” gateway box where I could cleanly network all of my room outlets for the whole house. Then I used a utility phone app to investigate everyone’s service and determine what channels to choose on 2 & 5 gig networks an after that tweak how much of the spectrum to use if I was getting any noise. After all was said and done I was able to stream Netflix over DSL which was big dream before I took the time to rework the whole setup and I was very happy with the final results. Point to point microwave installation has even more strict guidelines but that’s a story for one other time. Thanks again for your videos
I bought a waveform 4x4 pro w T-Mobile home. What a difference the performance is! Went from 75/2 mbps down/up to 500/13 mbps with ping times improvement of 60ms to 44ms. Thank you!
From the Waveform guy over on Reddit: "Just want to add a quick note here: only 2 of Elsys's antennas are actually directional. So while those two ports have decent gain figures, the other two antennas are omnidirectional. Given that n41 is 4x4, you're losing out on all the gain on two of the downlink paths with an Elsys device versus with our antenna. The best option is probably one of our antennas with an outdoor modem, but those are unfortunately hard to come by."
@fritzkabeano1969 yes, I agree and I cover the Elsys antenna specs in th-cam.com/video/Sqo1fvGi0jE/w-d-xo.html there is more than one good option for speeding up your internet and I still use waveform on two other gateways in addition to the Elsys!
Impressive that you have your own manlift. I'm jealous. (Edit: Made this comment before watching. Now I realize why it was there). Might want to consider a harness though...we want NaterTater...not MashedTaters.
Thanks for your videos. We just changes our cell service from Verizon to T-Mobil and the 5G service is way better in our area. I decided to try their home internet for $35/month in hopes of ditching our Comcast which is around $150/month. With the standard T-Mobile gateway I'm not too impressed, so I might try one of these Elsys units. I figure even if it's $700, it will pay for itself in 7 months. Not sure I'll be able to mount it very high, but should improve over what the T-Mobile device does. Wife is leery of changing over to cellular based internet......
these 3rd party gateways open lots of doors for the cellular home internet. The stock/provided ones have next to no options/settings to improve performance.
Hey Nate…You really stay on point, and I appreciate that. Thanks buddy. Quick question for you… The Elsys Amplimax has shown serious capability for you (and others). Considering the known quality and effectiveness of the Waveform 4x4, how can you account for the apparently superior performance of the Elsys..?? Is their antenna array ‘better’ in some way (hard for me to believe)… OR is it their modem?? I’m confused about how their metrics always seem significantly better …??? Thanks Nate…
@HowRay for the most part I think it boils down to less loss since the antenna array is on the modem (no cabling) but there does seem to be a little hidden magic in there yet still for upload on the Elsys. I can mostly explain and account for the download performance and if put a waveform in the exact same place with a short cable length I can match the download. The Elsys only has a x62 modem so there are better modems out there and I can surpass the Elsys download with a x75 Cheetah and waveform 4x4.
Dude, I'm still beating these speeds with a SE06 Pro and a 4x4 mimo setup or 4x4 (650-690dl) panel and I am miles from tower. You're killing on the ping though and better uploads.
Another great video and will be investing in it I have the Elys 4g LTE version I would like you to make a similar video like this and thanks again for your help and hard work to provide all of you insight to getting these antennas to work for all of the carriers looking forward to your next video Kraig from Washington State
What a surprise seeing that AT commands are still in use. I'm surprised somebody hasn't come up with something they could slap a patent on and charge for it.
Suree appreciate your content Nate! Curious your thoughts, would the X75 be much of an improvement over the Elsys with the X62 if I'm only aggregating three bands? I'm wondering if I would see more of an improvement with the Elsys by eliminating some of the latency loss. I haven't seen a huge improvement with the X75 over the Sagemcom gateway with Waveform 4x4, but I think it's because there's not any more bands for it to aggregate. idk if that makes sense lol. I thought about rigging up an enclosure to put the X75 on the roof, but I see Elsys is already doing that just with the X62
@zackjennings4355 it can be challenging to determine the best option sometimes. It would be cool if they all could have the same modem! In your case an Elsys might be faster today but might fall behind if you get more bandwidth or bands from the carriers soon vs an x75.
Awesome review! Do you think the modem can stand up to upwards of 120F ambient temperature? In the summers where I live it gets that hot (and humid!!) for a few days of the year.
Nate, this thing is amazing. Do you recommend connecting the Elsys to the stock T-Mobile Gateway with only WiFi turned on and Cellular off since the Elsys is acting as the Gateway? Thanks again!
The Elsys should not be connected to the t-mobile gateway. You'll need you own wifi router/mesh setup to leverage with the Elsys. Here's mine:th-cam.com/video/34NZwJh4N84/w-d-xo.html
Wanted to say another great informative video! A while back I initially watched your video on the waveform antenna, but I never followed through yet. After seeing this, I am very interested in Elsys project. However, I fear t mobile or other providers will try finding a way to make it unusable since it's not their product. Do you think this will be the case? Thank you
I don't think there is a big risk for that. I do think they will crack down on using their service at a different address than your "service address" though.
Excellent video! I love my Elsys AmpliMax Ultra. Currently I just have it on a 20 foot antenna pole but will soon mount on my 65 foot tower. Question for you Nate, is there a way to login to the device remotely, outside of the network?
@LSBProductions I don't believe there is an easy method. There are ways to do that with your own server or virtual machine that you access and then use that to then login to the webui but that can be a bit complicated to setup for most users.
@MikeCris testing and it's nice to have mutli wan for backup and throughput. th-cam.com/video/FugYABcOkTE/w-d-xo.html I don't have starlink, seems expensive compared to good 5G
@MikeCris th-cam.com/video/AnCQkpOGVrk/w-d-xo.html that's a recent test and I actually have a yet to be announced rv antenna from a well known manufacturer that I plan to test and video in the next few weeks!
@gamerwheeler23 the 5688w is what I show in this video. It does not actually work "with" it but rather you take the SIM out and use just the Elsys unit. The 5688w is not used. You'll need another wifi router though.
I would have love to see you do the search but by now you should know where the tower is. I am on my 4th gateway for T-Mobile so I will be mounting my ELSYS antenna soon. Still working out the bugs on my VPN router.
Hi Nate Steve here from Southern Indiana I've been watching your internet videos since you began and I must say we have certainly come a long way from the beginning I remember in the early going was just happy to get speeds in the thirties or forties on downloads. Now look where we're at. I wonder what the limit will be, as far as wireless internet goes
Hi Steve! Thanks for tagging along for so long! Yes the speeds have really improved. Both on the carrier side and these newer modem/gateways. I think we will easily see multi-gig speed in the coming years (this decade). It's almost there today, we just need to do do more carrier aggregation to combine more bands at once.
Great video Nater! So... the ELSYS is using the Qualcomm SDx62 Snapdragon chip, which is not the latest as I think Chester is using a SDx75 (surpassing the SDx65 and SDx72 chips). Where is the magic happening in the ELSYS to get these blazing fast 5G speeds???
one is no cable loss with an external antenna and I must say I think the router on the Elsys shows great performance for things like ping. It's true it would be faster with an x65 or x75 modem though! Each unit has its pros and cons but this unit does perform well.
@brandonbailey4326 correct, it can connect to a wifi mesh system! And that is how I have it installed but for this testing I wanted to keep my mesh out of the loop just to prevent confusion.
I will be waiting for the same exact placement for the waveform vs Elsys! I'd bet on Elsys, as it seems superior in design, but the antenna could actually be better in the waveform... #2.) Need a BUFFER BLOAT TEST!!!? -- The Elsys buffer bloat; test was ran without those results, but it was on the Waveform. This is hiding crucial useful information to anyone wanting to make a purchase. The Elsys modem may actually handle buffer bloat very well as-is, but that test was ignored by using the non-desktop bandwidth test! 30-minutes more of testing could have accomplished both points above.
I can appreciate your enthusiasm. Your request is about 4hrs more testing time for me (outdoor high tower) and probably 2-3hrs additional video editing time. So it didn't make the cut for this video. It's not high on my list for next videos but I can try to get some of the aspects you mentioned in the future.
@@NaterTater I wasn't speaking towards a high tower test actually, but that would be nice eventually. If you have the Elsys mounted high currently, then I see your point although and I did not consider that. Thanks for the video, but it probably in all fairness should have been delayed for that test completion.
@RyanEllerbe the website is odd on windows. It doesn't give me the same server options (no t-mobile servers) and is often poor performance vs the app on the same computer. Speedtest.net strongly recommends the app.
Hello. I realize this is a two month old video, but I just found it and ordered a Elsys unit from Richard. Returning my Waveform QuadPro as it was really no better than the G4SE. Few questions…. For day to day use, did you leave the Elsys in SA or nSA mode? I have the same bands available as you, but my signal metrics are not quite as good as yours. Only .7 and 2.3 miles from the tmobile towers. Line of radio sight good, but I have to pass thru many trees, so my power is -98 +/- signal quality is good. Of all the T-Mobile hardware tried, which is your keeper/day today setup? The Elsys or the Cheetah v2 with Waveform? Or other? Thanks, John
@jebinc9698 I use 5G SA but some people have network reset issues daily or so with SA. I think T-mobile is still rolling it all out. You'll have to test yours. I load balance 4-6 ISP's at any given time running everything from stock gateways to antennas to 3rd party gateways. All for testing so not much of a "regular" setup.
@@NaterTater Yeah, I jumped on it. He gave me a heads up yesterday. Last question - of all the equipment and configurations you tested on T-Mobile, which would you say (from your experience at your location) was the best, in terms of performance consistency/reliability, stable and quick up/down speeds, and overall ease of use?
@jebinc9698 there isnt a magic bullet. The Cheetah with x75 modem has been my fastest by far (with waveform quadpro), the easiest "fast" setup was G4AR with quadpro in the attic, my best upload has been the Elsys Amplimax 5G outdoors.
Hi Nater, I did tried T-Home 3 times for the past 2 years in Chicago N-W Suburbs, my tower is half mile away and Iam getting good speeds, BUT if weather changing to rain or fog I get packet loss in game called Counter-Strike 2 CS2, can you please tell me jitter you have on that hookup ? Just curious. Thanks !
This is great for a lot of money! Is there any hope for those of us who can't afford $500+. In fact $300+ is pushing the limit, when you think of the antenna, pole, etc, that again brings it to $500+. I live in the sticks with LOTS of huge mature trees. Not sure exactly how far I am from the closest 5G tower, maps show none around, but I do get a Strong 5G signal about 20% of the time before it gets lost. If my budget is $400 all in, do I have any hope?
Hi there Nater, apparently T-mobile wants mt speeds to be near to 75 gbps down and 15 gbps up. It is a far cry from where I started at 400 down and 40 up. I spent two week with T-mobile on this subject, they even sent me a new gateway (the one with the SIM card) If this is the awesome 5G network, I am not impressed. I have consistent 4 bars good signal strength. No one at T-mobile can explain my speeds other than it that is my new normal.
@craignehring could be many factors and unfortunately with a stock gateway you don't have much ability to change it other than adding an external antenna. A 3rd party gateway like this Elsys or a Chester cheetah (see my channe) can open up more tricks to get the speed!
Is the POE outside or inside the house? Can i just use the poe port on my netgear ethernet switch? I have to run the wires through my attic and out the cable end. So 1 ethernet cable run 40ft from my netgear switch would be sweet!
@crazyhass84 the provided PoE injector is not outdoor rated. So long as your netgear switch supports the voltage/power required you can use it. It likely will work.
@NaterTater ok. So I have power in my attic. So I could put the poe supply there. Then run 1 30ft ether net cable to the device. Then another down into my 2nd floor to my router. Then from router to my netgeat switch to supply the entire house?
Would it be possible to compare this to the Chester Trident paired with the waveform 4 x 4 panel, both in the attic and outside on your antenna mast? I asked before on another video, now you tested this elys equipment which is quite comparable to the trident actually 🤔 would greatly appreciate the comparison Edit: Reason I ask is that i currently run that very combo with a little 12 inch adapter from the previous gen waveform 4x4 antenna with the n type connector to sma, which goes directly into the trident, which i mount right behind the waveform antenna, curious as to what the difference between my current setup and elys would be
@dak6028 sorta. They often limit a certain range of IMEI values but the FCC specifically states they can't limit consumer devices. There are ways to make them work.
Thinking about buying one of these to replace my Waveform 4X4 Antenna but can you use the Elsys Antenna as just a regular Antenna without the Built-In Gateway capabilities like you can with a Waveform 4X4 Antenna? Basically what I'm asking is could I hook it up to a Chester Cheetah V2 Gateway/Modem and then use my Mesh Wi-Fi System on top of that? The reason I'm asking is because eventually I'm gonna be Upgrading my SDX65 Chester Cheetah V2 Gateway/Modem to a Chester Cheetah SDX75 Gateway/Modem and I don't think the Chips are Upgradable in the Elsys Antenna's? If I can't do that I'll probably just keep my Waveform 4X4 Antenna.
technically you could plug the Elsys into the Cheetah WAN port and it'd work but then the Cheetah would just be a wifi router and not using it's modem. You can't use the Elsys as just an antenna. The new modems like SDX75 do have more capabilities than the x62 in the Elsys. Always trade offs I suppose!
Great testing for us that gives us options……. Question we are on top of a tower that has n41 n71 b2 b66 etc The problem is we sit so far under we have a tree line blocking everything we have (maybe less than a mile) Our Nokia is constantly off line switching back and forth almost unusable I took got a waveform mimo and only connected n71 leads and have good service 70 down 20 up If I hook up the other leads in any combination we have poor n41 and is almost unusable again 10 down in and out and 1.5 up…. That being said it is definitely a line of site issue I have dove into all the video and even the line of site Question before an Elsys investment do u have any thoughts on my situation? Thanks again for all your help!!!!! And all my signal quality is excellent but poor on LTE and constantly changing to poor excellent only on LTE and T-Mobile has sent me 2 Nokia and doesn’t help
@jeromewarren3467 I think an Elsys or other 3rd party router could fix that issue a couple ways. One is by leveraging all 4 antennas but have the modem band lock to just your best bands. Next would be if you get good 5G SA signal you can leverage that and avoid 4G LTE all together.
@@NaterTater THANKS ... taking the plunge now - we have struggled in our area for years..... internet provider will not service us..... out of town dead end road and rural but beside I-95. it was Tmobile expanding that got us up to date internet - now maybe we can get it tweaked - thanks again for all u do for the community. Hi, we got the amplimax ultra 5g after watching this video, our speed got a little better went from 20-50 is better download too but not so stable, with amplimax we also change our router and that was helpful but not much. We have an extra 4x4 memo and wondering if we can connect that to amplimax and make it better?
Hi, you can't hook up an external antenna to the Elsys and you shouldn't need to. Have you gone through and messed with the connection settings to test out different cellular bands and 5G NSA vs 5G SA? See my other Elsys videos: th-cam.com/play/PL8d9FovK2dNTZy-wVIX4tgmQrSbTgQmEz.html

Tried the AT command to force NSA but my speeds and ping are worse in that mode, switching over to SA gives me higher speeds and better ping. I'm rural, so I hope they upgrade the towers at some point. My current speeds are 300-350 down and 70 up. My ping is around 46m/s
So I recently purchased this same unit and noticed something odd, when I directly plug into the amplimax from my PC I get 300 down speed but if I go though my router It drops speed to 80 down, have you noticed anything like this?
@@NaterTater I changed to AP mode on my router and could no longer connect to it. Going to perform a factory reset on it. Just very odd that my speeds slow down so much when i use the router.
@@brandonleeAZN do you have the Elsys plugged into the blue WAN port? You need to make sure the router is also expecting the correct ip address range (192.168.10.xxx)

Hopefully the support is as good as people say, I will update once I have been contacted. I have the Verizon home internet the newest box on my service it's fast down load and slow upload it's like 200 down where I live . But it's at a non approved location. Up the street at the approved location I have it sat at its expretremly fast down load and up load also I'm in a apartment building on back of the building . I feel if I could use that system you have outside I would get extremely fast up and down . But does the newest home gateway from Verizon have a physical sim or is there a way to hook it up to where it would work on that system u have just wondering . At the approved location it's 500 to 600 down and 450 500 upload....
Where have you been gainfully employed in Enterprise Network Engineering? Everything you have done on TH-cam is from your house. What certifications do you hold, any? It seems that everything you present are from a Windows, Phone, home perspective. It looks as if all of your experience is from a Windows perspective. Maybe you work on the network side of Windows on your job. You definately do not work. With layers 1,2,3. You only know layer 4,5 of which in a Windows environment is very unstable. Networking to Microsoft has always been an after thought. I.e. Windows 3.2 was the first MS thought of it when Xerox invented it 20 years earier and was running on IBM's corporate network before you were born.

Hi Nate. I have AT&T Air inside my metal shop building and have to get an outside antenna. I get 5-30 mbps inside and up to 300 outside. Have u tested this with AT&T?
Thanks! Love your channel! Mark
@@watchmark3918 Hi Mark, I haven't thrown an AT&T SIM in it but it will work! A metal shop is a great reason to have an outdoor unit like this!
I forgot to mention it’s T-Mobile 5G and I’m two miles from the tower it feeds from
awesome to hear of the success!
I don't own a Cadillac but I like to see one driven and put through the tests. Same deal here. Very informative video as usual. Right now I'm satisfied with my stock set-up and happy to report that my performance has improved significantly over the last two or three months which must be to tower upgrades.
@biblebelter9772 awesome! Good to hear and thanks for tuning in to watch.
I thought of you when I first saw this Elsys product. Glad to see that you got it going. For those of you that are less technical, Richard at the Wireless Haven will step you through all the changes that need to be made. Note: A T-Mobile business SIM requires no setting and works out of the box.
@PeterC408 good points Peter!
AT commands. I love it. Reminds me of modem days!
@@kenm724 let us know how your Amplimax works!
great to hear Randy!
Looks like you finally cracked it. Congrats on those great speeds.
Yes! Thank you!
@ChrisNormanTexas very good, hoping it gives you the speed you need! It's certainly one of the better ways for an outdoor setup.
At the T-Mobile store now. They’re trying to get it on the network before I drive 4 hours to install it. LOL
@@NaterTater Well, TMobile is telling me my amplimax is locked to the previous carrier.
All i have to say is THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
I didn't know about those commands for NSA only
@pilinke11 thank you for watching! Glad the video helps.
You make the best videos. Thanks for the comprehensive review, was a lot of fun to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it!
These videos are great for learning about methods to improve signal strength. The problem for many of us is the severe deprioritization that T-Mobile imposes for hours a day at many locations. It's not that helpful to me that I can tweak everything and get 300 Mbps DL at 5 am when T-Mobile cuts me down to 4 Mbps from 4 to 10 pm.
sorta! but 5G SA opens the door to new bandwidth and network prioritization that tmobile gateways don't leverage.
Thanks.
@KKL719 I have witnessed that but it's anecdotal. I don't have hard proof that it is in fact how their system works.
Thank you!

From the Waveform guy over on Reddit:
"Just want to add a quick note here: only 2 of Elsys's antennas are actually directional.

10ms ping is amazing for wireless! That's what you can expect with cable internet.
yup I'm getting 30 without it but I want it
indeed! this unit has very impressive ping performance.
Hey Nate…You really stay on point, and I appreciate that. Thanks buddy. Quick question for you…
The Elsys Amplimax has shown serious capability for you (and others).
@the-papaw speeds are determined by a combination of the tower, signals and device (and plan)!

What a surprise seeing that AT commands are still in use. I'm surprised somebody hasn't come up with something they could slap a patent on and charge for it.
lol, very true

Man for a newbie to this stuff im lost!
Thanks Nater! 👍🎯😎 The ELSYS is a great product! I remember the days of 150 down at your places now this unit crushes it!!!
Those results are stellar but those antenna prices are a bit too rich for my working class blood 😳
it is not cheap, I agree.
I’m assuming that you can connect your WiFi mesh system with this? And would that improve the system as well ?
@brandonbailey4326 correct, it can connect to a wifi mesh system! And that is how I have it installed but for this testing I wanted to keep my mesh out of the loop just to prevent confusion.
@@NaterTater understandable and thanks for the response! I love the content you put out so thanks!

Wish you could have used the website instead of the app for the speed test to compare loaded pings.
@ Thanks for the quick reply. Note, Richard is offering $75 discount now. I think he has over 500 units in stock. $624 Out the door.
@jebinc9698 i just saw that as well! Good sale!

@@NaterTater OK, was there something about it you didn't like or just decided not to buy it?

@crazyhass84 yes that can work. Look up your netgear PoE specs and compare to the Elsys needss. It might work directly to it.
Would it be possible to compare this to the Chester Trident paired with the waveform 4 x 4 panel, both in the attic and outside on your antenna mast? I asked before on another video, now you tested this elys equipment which is quite comparable to the trident actually 🤔 would greatly appreciate the comparison
Edit: Reason I ask is that i currently run that very combo with a little 12 inch adapter from the previous gen waveform 4x4 antenna with the n type connector to sma, which goes directly into the trident, which i mount right behind the waveform antenna, curious as to what the difference between my current setup and elys would be
I don't have a Trident currently. I can consider getting one though.
Do I need to send commands for an att sim card? I have 2 sims of the old unlimited tablet plan.
@Alexandra12-219 you'll need to probably look at IMEI and TTL
I have Verizon 5G Home Internet without a SIM. Can I still use it?
@@PBA8 maybe, they will typically be locked atleast to the carrier.
@NaterTater Okay, thanks for the response.
Does any of the 5G providers have issue with using your own equipment instead of their proprietary equipment?
@@NaterTaterOh ok yeah I'm probably better off just keeping my Chester Cheetah V2 Gateway/Modem then and the Waveform 4X4 Antenna.

FANTASTIC CHANNEL
Got the Elsys in And thanks We were able to Band lock N41 and left the other alone and we now have consistent 250 down and 20 up.
@@NaterTater we have and Richard gave us the commands and the 5g SA was the best and gave us speed between 50 and at times close to 60. The band it gets is N71but there is tower with N41 about 7 miles away from us and hoping if we go with much higher poll amplimax will be able to get the n41
We are surrounded by trees
@@MaryamBakhshinejad-z6o ok great to hear you worked with Richard to experiment. Did you try to force n41 SA by deselecting n71 and n25 on the band locking page?
@@NaterTater yes he is great.
No, we didn't. We will try that and keep u posted. Thank you so much for trying to help!
Looks like we are getting N25 also but only 9% connection
Also there is an other tower about 7.8 miles away from us that has N41
Any advise? We were thinking about higher pole to see if we are able to get the N41 and maybe strength theN25
Tried the AT command to force NSA but my speeds and ping are worse in that mode, switching over to SA gives me higher speeds and better ping. I'm rural, so I hope they upgrade the towers at some point. My current speeds are 300-350 down and 70 up. My ping is around 46m/s
@noechaparro8824 those speeds are good but I agree that ping is worse than desired. Typically 5G SA is better for ping.
You should probably start the video telling people it's a $700 unit😮
@ageranger1541 I typically leave price out since they can fluctuate and simply include a link for viewers to get the up to date price.
Does Elysis have gps so tmobile knows location? Thanks.
Tmobile doesn't need GPS to know location. Cellular triangulation is very good so the Elsys does not allow a hidden location (nor can any modem).
@@NaterTater I am confused then. I thought Tmobile was cracking down on their equipment being used at the address that is used when signing up.
Does the Elysis take care of the location for tmobile?
Good Video ..
Seems the $50 off is for the refurbished units only..... :-(
@fsmdanimal no, if you click the first link below, add to cart and go to checkout the discount shows.
So I recently purchased this same unit and noticed something odd, when I directly plug into the amplimax from my PC I get 300 down speed but if I go though my router It drops speed to 80 down, have you noticed anything like this?
@brandonleeAZN you need to check your router settings. Easiest is to probably put your router in AP or bridge mode.
@@NaterTater It is, I disabled QoS on my router and it seemed to have helped a bit, though only getting about 150 down vs the 300 when plugged directly into amplimax.
@brandonleeAZN it shouldn't be slower but I do hear of people having similar issues. What router is it?
Unfortunately this isn't working for me, I received the unit today and entered my IMEI for it but it will not activate, I am currently reaching out to support to see what the problem is, but I can't access the /send-at-command either because of this. Hopefully the support is as good as people say, I will update once I have been contacted.
Update: Support is awesome, I was on an old firmware and after that got sorted I was given a guide with the same information that got it going. Speeds and latency are night and day from my old KDV21.
@@Smokey-Tech did you change the IP address or turn on bridge mode? Entering the IMEI will not affect your ability to access the webpage or at commands
@@NaterTater I was able to access the CFG with the default 10.254, but it states at the top I need to "Enable your Amplimax". So it works and the Elsys site even said it's activated now, just not able to get that banner to go away and I still can't access the /send-at-command so it may be that I'm on an older firmware? It's "AU0QA_1.3.0_rc1" but I can't currently access the firmware page because I didn't order it when I had an account. I haven't tried bridge mode but I could give that a shot and see if it helps any.
Aslo thank you for the reply, I appreciate it!
@Smokey-Tech don't do bridge mode yet or ever if you dont need it. It makes webui access harder. You need to update the firmware. Support can help there.
@@NaterTater I got ya, I waited on your reply as I figured it would, I will wait on support for the firmware update. I appreciate your help and the videos!

it depends on the verizon unit. The gray taller cylinder does not have a pSIM.

If you have an MSIE, you are out of your league when dealing with a CCIE.
@jamescampolo7824 this isn't enterprise networking...this is home networking to get internet.
