    This is the third time I've watched your video. Out of every video on YT this is the best and pretty much the only roll-on liner video I've found. Thank you!

    This is a good example of being proactive towards preventing further rusty bottoms..
    What I would do is go on the inside of the door jams and address those areas as well along with the wheel wells. I know the trucks are infamous for rotting there.

    Came out pretty good. I think you should have done the line the flares made. Maybe would offer more protection to area after flares are back on.

    How as the raptor liner held up since making the video?

  • @Jonathan-tb6fm
    @Jonathan-tb6fm 6 ปีที่แล้ว +33

    Should of sprayed it. It comes out way better when you spray it. The gun comes with the kit guys.

    • @BrandonClark563
      @BrandonClark563  6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      you still have to have an air compressor to spray it even with the gun included. I wasn't able to get my hands on one plus as I mentioned I wanted it to be as smooth as possible. Spraying would of added way more texture. I like the way it came out. To each their own! :)

    • @motoxman541
      @motoxman541 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Brandon Clark If you wanted smooth you should of used Durabak liner. Durabak comes in smooth of textured and comes in a variety of colors

    • @1982MCI
      @1982MCI 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      m anton the colors fade really bad within months of being put on tho then looks like crap. There is not a brand on the market that does not fade

    • @motoxman541
      @motoxman541 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Don Pfeiffer dither Durabak liner comes with a UV protection. It cost a little more with the UV protection buts it won't fade. I own an auto detailing business since 1991 and been doing bedliners since 2000.

    • @Ir0nMaidan
      @Ir0nMaidan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the smoother finish is due to his roller choice, if he had a textured roller instead it would come out alot more aggressive but thats all on personal preferences still.

    You do not need self etching primer, because when you sanded the metal with 180 grit you mechanically etched it; self etching primer is typically for new metal that has not been mechanically etched

Or just measure it out. It would have taken you a lot longer though.. You can make straight lines with blue tape it just takes experience and patience.

I use griots fast correcting cream, meguiars ultimate polish, then chemical guys butter wet wax. I haven’t heard of anyone else having that issue. • @BrandonClark563
      @BrandonClark563  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's just an offroad vehicle and the over all finished look isn't a concern I'd say yes go for it, but with the roller on bigger surface areas you may see roller streaks in it so spraying would possibly be the better option. I can't say you would for sure, but I'm assuming after working with this product that if you get into areas much larger than the width of the roller it's going to show your passes.

      Jerry Buckhorn I don’t have the truck anymore but for the several months I had it afterwards and many gravel roads later it didn’t have a signal sign of damage no chips or anything

    Why not just wrap the bottom of the truck black so it protects the paint and u can peel it off?

    • @BrandonClark563
      @BrandonClark563  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      personally I liked the look of the liner. Also it adds way more protection than a wrap would. A wrap will just be beat up with damage and have to be replaced and with the difference in levels from paint to bare metal from the chips that would show on a wrap. Just my preference though

    Hey brandon, when u sanded with 180 grit did u do that all by hand, how long did it take you to sand both sides of ur truck?, Since you have put the raptor on and only did self etching on certain spots is it holding up well? Do you feel a primer is needed after 180 sanding?

    • @BrandonClark563
      @BrandonClark563  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ir0nMaidan yep the 180 was done by hand it probably took me 30-45 mins I’d say. The self etching was only for bare metal other than that no you won’t need a primer because you already have the factory primer and base coat on there. 180 will give plenty of bite for the raptor liner to grab onto. Primer on the whole area would just be wasted money and product. Hope this helps!

      @@BrandonClark563 Awesome appreciate the fast response, i plan on doing this for my 17 tacoma! Im removing my factory flares and raptor lining all of that so appreciate the review! Especially on how much bottle you used too! Mine is definitely shorter wheel base then yours and u didnt even use 1 bottle so thats good!

      for sure man! you'll be good with just 1 bottle on a tacoma for sure I'd recommend 3 coats too! good luck!

    Why You don't use Plasti dip??
    Looks like the same and u can peel it of if u want.
    Greetings from Germany

    • @BrandonClark563
      @BrandonClark563  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      plasti dip wouldn't give you the protection and durability this would. One scratch or chip in plasti dip and it'll start peeling off. I've used plasti dip many times and love it, the letters of the truck are actually plasti dip lol I just don't think it would of gave what I was looking for here. So cool to see someone from germany checking out a video! thank you!

    Just so you guys know it’s not gonna stop that old rust from coming back if anything being sealed in like that it will come back soon, best to do something like this before the rust starts.

    • @BrandonClark563
      @BrandonClark563  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @steve mar yessir you're right. Definitely wasn't looking for an end all fix here, just a little something to help mostly with current and future rock chips. People say it looks bad, but I say it still looks better than chips and rust lol

      Brandon Clark I agree, most of those kits come with a free gun, I’m a painter but you don’t have to be to use it, it’s that easy and lays out with a much better texture pattern.

    • @BrandonClark563
      @BrandonClark563  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yessir I know and I have painting experience as well so wasn't worried about that I just wanted as minimal texture as possible. There wasn't a single video I saw where someone sprayed in any range of psi that I liked enough to put on my truck. Yes it turned out great, but as far as the overall texture finish I needed to roll it for what I was looking for

    Hows it holding up ? Would you do it again?

    • @BrandonClark563
      @BrandonClark563  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have the truck anymore but for about the 4-5 months after before i sold it it held up great to many gravel roads and rock chips. It never even showed an imperfection. If it were to do it again I may go with the tintable kind to color match better, but yes I liked it
