I think one of the most important points to mention as an international is starting early. Especially when you’re applying from an environment where you are not as exposed to university details as similar applicants here in the UK.
The passport analogy was great. For me, it was something similar where taking on a medical degree in KCL or the UK in general is a great brand to attach myself to. I know it shouldn't form the basis when applying but it has its benefits career-wise.
I study in dubai am egyption. I am ina cambridge igcse cirriculum school then I will do my A levels . Pls can I know the requirements I will need for a UK medical school and is there any way I can get a scholarship since it's very expensive and I would really love to study there
Hello , i am from France 🇫🇷 and my daughter want to study medecine in uk , ( for the future) but , we have a problem: in France , it’s impossible to have a work experience before 18 years old in a hospital, volunteer.... etc . Do you know if it possible to apply in a medical school without a work experience in uk and wich is university? Sorry 😐 for my English. Have a nice day thank you 🙏 very much for your help
Hi, I’m a medical student in the U.K. from France (Paris). I can give you some tips if you like! To start off with, have a look at this link: www.themedicportal.com/application-guide/work-experience/medical-school-requirements-medicine-work-experience/. It has all the details of which unis expect work experience and what type.
Hello, although work experience is beneficial it is not a requirement for every single university, as university admissions teams understand it is very difficult to obtain. For example, the University of Glasgow doesn't require hospital volunteering, and its medical school is one of the best in the country. However volunteering in any sort of caring capacity can support your daughter's application, e.g. volunteer work with local charities supporting a health related issue, volunteering to help elderly members of the community through through a dementia or Alzheimer's charity etc. I study at the faculty of medicine, medical science and nutrition at the University of Aberdeen.
Jacob Morley yes agreed. For example, I worked as a healthcare assistant part time for a month during summer holidays (several of my colleagues were not 18 when working), and I volunteered as a first aider with an Ambulance Crew and with a Mental Health Charity. That, plus got work experience abroad in Canada when I was 16. I think it’s not necessarily what type of work experience, but how you’re able to reflect on it and learn. I definitely feel that the other people at the interview didn’t really have much work experience, so it was more of a bonus for me than something required.
Hi! Thank you to everyone who have replied in the comments. I would say that getting work experience is probably one of the most important part of the medical school application. It's not necessarily impossible to get in without it, but it definitely is important to get work experience to set you apart from the crowd especially in such a competitive area. If you can't get the work experience in France, I would recommend looking elsewhere. There are many international companies that provide work experience and she may also be able to volunteer in the UK if possible. Here is an example: www.globalpremeds.com/gap-medics/
Hi, can I get a information about post graduate in nursing for international students? I’m really curious about kings college London. I couldn’t get enough information about the nursing course. Please let me know where I can dm you! Need help!
How many subjects and what grade required in IGCSE ?? Does IGCSE grade counts in medical school admission ?? A British kid applying from outside UK. Thanks.
What about international students with a Bachelor's Degree? Like me for example I am a registered nurse in my Country. What would be the best way/pathway for me to get into UK med school? (mind you my grades in Biology, Chemistry and Math are not that appealing) Hahaha.

They definitely count but each med school has different criteria. Have a look on their website!

I'd suggest applying through the graduate entry route like I did!
